Idle Champions: Festival of Fools 9
Posted in Idle Champions.

After a such long and cold winter, the citizens Daggerford are eager to celebrate the Festival of Fools: a day of feasting, drinking, and general foolishness. People don brightly-colored and garish clothing, dancing in the street like court jesters and competing with one another to see who can pull off the most foolish (yet harmless) pranks.

During the festivities a concerned villager approaches the party and asks for help. She says that her husband's prank is to try and taunt a frost giant...
Festival of Fools as returned for Year 9, introducing Tasslehoff Burrfoot, everyone's favorite 'borrower' and Hero of the Lance, as well as bringing a major update to Lucius Elenasto, the Arcane Chromat!

Featured Champions

Tasslehoff

Excitable, friendly, and insatiably curious, Tasslehoff Burrfoot is a kender of no small renown. Tas is the beating heart of the Heroes of the Lance, and his knack for 'borrowing' somehow manages to solve more problems than it causes. While Tas may not see himself as a hero, he is fearless in the face of Krynn's greatest dangers, and he always comes to the aid of his friends.

Learn more about Tasslehoff in his Champion Spotlight.

Lucius

Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto was born to high nobility. He thought he knew what he was getting into when he joined the Heroes of Aerois, but then he met his first cow. Dreadful, evil creatures. Lucius is slowly coming out of his nobility shell as he continues to learn the true value of comradery, friendship, and a world without barriers.

Learn more about Lucius and the tweaks we've made to Aerois Synergy across the Heroes of Aerois affiliation in his Champion Spotlight when it releases on April 3rd.

While Tas may not see himself as a hero, he is fearless in the face of Krynn's greatest dangers, and he always comes to the aid of his friends.
Tasslehoff Burrfoot is a Support and Speed Champion who buffs Champions in one of the back three columns of the player's choice. His diversionary nature strengthens that column at the cost of positional formation abilities next to him, and his wanderlust further increases his support as the party remains in an area. Finally, his habit to borrow items speeds up progression in areas with quest items.

To learn everything you need to know about this kender rogue with a god as his best friend, read on!

Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Bushwhackers!

FAQ

What are the different leprechauns?
You can whack up two types of leprechauns: hatted and non-hatted.
  • There are 8 hatted ones to find, 3 will unlock turn-in stations, and the other 5 will give you daily quests. You must manually whack these ones to capture them.

  • The non-hatted ones will drop items for you to turn into the turn-in stations. You can quick whack and mana whack non-hatted leprechauns when they appear if you wish. The non-hatted leprechauns will *always* drop some turn-in items, rather than just having a chance to.

How can I find the leprechauns?
Just keep whacking. You could whack them all up in a day if you wanted to. The odds to whack up hatted leprechauns will increase as the event goes on.

What adds to my event progress?
Turning in items to the Gold, Beer and Clover stations, and doing quests for folks in the event area.

Do I have to do the achievements?
No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.

Where can I see all the achievements available and how to get them?
Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

Why should I ask for friends to help boost turn-ins?
It increases the amount of progress you get from doing a turn-in.

Idle Champions: Fleetswake 9
Posted in Idle Champions.

The party is recruited by one of Waterdeep's merchant guilds to look into a number of mysterious ship disappearances over the past year. Superstitious folk blame Umberlee, but the merchant guild isn't so sure, and as the Fair Seas Festival gets underway your party begins their investigation in the Dock Ward of Waterdeep...

Fleetswake Year 9 finally brings the Heroes of the Lance to Idle Champions, and for us, there was only one choice in who should come first: Raistlin Majere.

Raistlin is available now. We hope you enjoy him. Next week, on March 11, a major update will arrive for Deekin Scalesinger, everyone's favorite troubador who sings about doom. Learn about the changes to Deekin's design when his Champion Update Blog arrives on Friday, March 6.

Learn everything you need to know about Fleetswake below!

Featured Champions

Raistlin

Born frail yet gifted with an uncanny aptitude for magic, Raistlin Majere is the Sorcery to his older twin brother Caramon's Sword. The youngest wizard ever to attempt the Test of High Sorcery, Raistlin was forever changed, marked by white hair, golden skin, and hourglass eyes that see the accelerated passage of time...

Learn more about Raistlin in his Champion Spotlight.

Deekin

A former member of the Dripping Fang clan, Deekin was once a Skald for a White Dragon named Tymofarrar. Once he was released from Tymofarrar's service, he set out to become the most amazing storyteller in all of Faerûn. He yearns to sing and tell stories of heroic deeds, but his songs often devolve into 'tales' of the doom that is coming to him or his companions.

Idle Champions: Introducing Raistlin Majere
Posted in Idle Champions.

Born frail yet gifted with an uncanny aptitude for magic, Raistlin Majere is the Sorcery to his older twin brother Caramon's Sword. The youngest wizard ever to attempt the Test of High Sorcery, Raistlin was forever changed, marked by white hair, golden skin, and hourglass eyes that see the accelerated passage of time. Together with his fellow Heroes of the Lance, Raistlin wields his formidable arcane talents against Takhisis, the Dragon Queen.
Raistlin is a DPS Champion who excels when positioned away from the rest of the formation. His damage grows when positional formation abilities focus on just him and a small number of other Champions, and he'll periodically toss a fireball at the next area, resulting in enemies being softened up before the party arrives.

Raistlin Majere is the first Hero of the Lance to come to Idle Champions -- but he will not be the last! We've been privileged to get a chance to work with author Margaret Weis to bring Raistlin to life as he was at the beginning of Dragons of Autumn Twilight, just five years after he completed his Test of High Sorcery, when he and his brother Caramon met up with their friends at the Inn of the Last Home.

Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Magic Missile (magic) - Raistlin fires a number of magic missiles at the toughest enemies.

Formation Abilities

  • Prodigy of High Sorcery - Raistlin increases his damage by 100% for each Champion that is not adjacent to him, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Savant - For each positional formation ability affecting Raistlin, he gains Intensity stacks based on how few other Champions are also affected by the same ability. He gains one stack if there are three other Champions affected, two if there are two other Champions affected, three if there is only one other Champion affected, and four if Raistlin is the only Champion affected. The effect of Prodigy of High Sorcery is increased by 100% for each Intensity stack Raistlin has, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Debilitating Magic - When Raistlin attacks and is at or above 90% of his max health, he takes 1% of his max health as damage but deals 400% more damage with his attack.
  • Herbalism - Other Champions' healing effects on Raistlin are reduced by 50%. Whenever any other Champion in the formation uses an ultimate attack, Raistlin drinks a cup of tea after his next attack, healing himself for 2% of his max health for each ultimate that was used, stacking additively.
  • Flames of High Sorcery - While fighting in an area with an incomplete quest, Raistlin casts Fireball at enemies in the next area after every fourth attack. This causes those enemies to spawn with missing health equal to 10% of their max health, stacking additively up to five times.

Specializations

  • Heroic Mage - Raistlin increases the effect of Prodigy of High Sorcery by 125% for each Good Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Reclusive Mage - Raistlin increases the effect of Prodigy of High Sorcery by 125% for each Champion in the formation with a Melee or Ranged base attack, stacking multiplicatively.
  • War Mage - Raistlin increases the effect of Prodigy of High Sorcery by 300% for each Tanking Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.

Wintershield Mastery Challenges!
Posted in Idle Champions.

You've unlocked Anson, recruited the rebalanced Binwin, and pushed your limits across multiple Wintershield variants. Now it's time to put your skills to the test with WINTERSHIELD MASTERY!

Welcome to the second run of this exciting Event augment! You can learn more about how Mastery Challenges work in last month's Introduction blog. Today, however, we're here to talk about the specifics for this month's challenging restrictions as we all push to get Dragonsoul Card Sleeves for Artemis the Wintershield Event Champions!

Wintershield Mastery Challenges

Base Restriction: Fellowship of the Fallbacks
  • You may only use Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, and members of The Fallbacks affiliation.

  • Restriction A: Slow Going
    • Enemies gain 5% more health in each area, stacking multiplicatively.
    • You may only use Champions with a base attack cooldown of 5 seconds or higher.

  • Restriction B: Shadow VIPs
    • Enemies gain 5% more health in each area, stacking multiplicatively.
    • Two Formation Slots in the formation are taken up by Shadow Imp Escorts.

  • Restriction C: Attack Pattern
    • Enemies gain 5% more health in each area, stacking multiplicatively.
    • If a Champion is adjacent to another Champion with the same base attack type (ie. melee, ranged, magic), all Champions have their damage set to 0.

  • Restriction D: Building Shadow
    • Enemies gain 5% more health in each area, stacking multiplicatively.
    • In non-boss areas after area 10, an invulnerable Shadow enemy has a 100% chance to spawn alongside each enemy. This chance is reduced by 10% for each unique alignment in your formation. Subsequent enemies spawn with 100% more health for each Shadow enemy in the current area, stacking multiplicatively.

Champion Shop Improvements

With today's update, we also began implementing quality-of-life improvements to the Champions section of the Shop. These updates will roll out gradually over the coming months.

We also noticed during Chest Vaults last year that players enjoyed having access to every Champion's chest. We decided to make that a feature moving forward, accessible through the updated Champions section of the Shop.

BW2: Flooded Mines Quest Hub
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Hi Whackers!

The Mer-Dwarves have a great new project, but it's mired in setbacks that only a Bush Whacker can solve! Help them build up the Mer-Miner's Quarters into a proper Quest Hub, featuring new quests, dailies, store, and more!

If you've completed the Welling Adit and mended the Tidal Medallion, you can get started at the Town Crier or the Forewoman in the Mer-Miner's Quarters.

Note: Once you've started these daily quests, you won't be able to do any Halflight Haven, Cenote Site, Cera Altepetl, Explorer's Camp, Sanctuary, or Cloudland daily quests for the next 20 hours.

Completing the Daily Quests will award you Sunken Dollars, which can be used to buy a plethora of exciting custom items and treats from this hub's unique store once it's been unlocked.

Chat about it on the forum!

Happy Whacking!

Introducing: Mastery Challenges
Posted in Idle Champions.

Well met, Champions!

Today, we have a brand-new Event Augment. We're really excited for this Augment to shake up the final week of our Simril Event, allowing players to put their formation strategy skills to the test and push as far as they can go to show their true Mastery!

As you set up your best possible formations in the Challenge Adventure, you can collect Mastery Gems. This new currency is used to purchase a new type of prestige cosmetic that you can collect for Event Champions: Card Sleeves!

To learn more, read on...

Welcome to Mastery Challenges

The Simril Mastery Challenge will go live at Noon PT today. It will be active until the end of the Simril Event (12/24 at Noon PT). It is accessed from the new notification at the top of the game, either in an Adventure or from the campaign map.

This Mastery Challenge uses the Simril Spoilsport Adventure, with Lark's formation. At first, only the Base Restriction ("Center of Attention") is available. However, there are four Optional Restrictions that you can eventually add to your Challenge Adventure. These Optional Restrictions increase the Adventure's difficulty and are necessary to collect Mastery Gems

Base Reward: Event Token Rewards

You'll earn 10 Event Tokens for every area completed in this Mastery Challenge, up to area 2,500. You'll only earn the Event Tokens per completed area once during this Mastery Challenge, so if you complete area 2,000 with the Base Restriction enabled and collect the Event Tokens for completing areas 1-2,000, you won't start earning additional Event Tokens in this Mastery Challenge until you complete area 2,001+ on later runs.

Unlocking Optional Restriction Slots

Your first step in the Mastery Challenge is to run the Simril Spoilsport Adventure with the Base Restriction to unlock your Optional Restriction Slots.
  • For every 500 areas you complete in a Mastery Challenge (with any restriction active), you'll unlock one of a total of 4 Option Restriction Slots. Those Slots allow you to toggle on Optional Restrictions for future Mastery Challenge runs. Note: When a Mastery Challenge is active in the future, Optional Restriction Slots that have already been unlocked in previous Mastery Challenges will remain unlocked.

Mastery Reward: Mastery Gems

After you complete your initial Challenge Adventure and unlock one or more Optional Restriction Slots, you can start adding those Optional Restrictions to your Challenge Adventures to collect Mastery Gems!

You can earn up to 1 Mastery Gem for each area completed, based on the number of Optional Restrictions enabled. It doesn't matter which Optional Restriction is enabled, just that you have completed an area with X or more enabled.
  • For example: If you complete area 1,000 with 1 Optional Restriction enabled, you'll collect 1,000 Mastery Gems when you reset that Adventure. If you complete area 1,500 with 2 Optional Restrictions enabled on a future run, you'll collect a total of 2,000 Mastery Gems (1,500 Mastery Gems for 2+ Optional Restrictions enabled, PLUS an additional 500 Mastery Gems because you've now completed up to area 1,500 with 1+ Optional Restrictions enabled as well).

Spending Your Mastery Gems: Card Sleeves!

With this Mastery Challenge, we are introducing a new prestige cosmetic that you can use to bling out the Equipment cards of Event Champions: Dragonsoul Card Sleeves!

Dragonsoul Card Sleeves are currently available for each Simril Event Champion in the Event Shop Tab, for a total of 2,000 Mastery Gems each. That means by proving your Mastery of Simril, you can purchase Card Sleeves for up to 5 of the following Champions: Dhadius, Halsin, Krull, Lark, Lucius, Nordom, Regis, Shadowheart, Talin, Warden, Warduke, and Yorven.

Once purchased, the Dragonsoul Card Sleeve is automatically equipped, but it can be toggled off or on via the Champion Page near where you equip Skins. Once equipped, Card Sleeves can be seen in the following locations:

When you open Chests and collect equipment for that Champion.

When you view the Champion's equipment on the bench, or on the Champion Page

You can collect up to 2,500 Mastery Gems for each number of Optional Restrictions enabled. Reaching 2,500 is a top-tier goal, and isn't something we expect most players to achieve - after all, this is a Mastery Challenge.

Every milestone you reach is meaningful progress. If you don't quite make it to the next milestone, any Mastery Gems you've earned will remain in your inventory and help jump-start your progress in the next Mastery Challenge. Every run makes you stronger, and every Mastery Gem earned puts you one step closer to your next Card Sleeve when this augment returns!

FAQ

What are Mastery Challenges?
Mastery Challenges are a limited-time system where you can run Challenge Adventures to earn rewards by building efficient and powerful formations. By enabling Optional Restrictions, you can also earn Mastery Gems, which can be spent on a brand new prestige cosmetic type to deck out the equipment cards of various Champions: Card Sleeves!

What can I earn from Mastery Challenges?
You can earn Event Tokens by completing areas in the current Challenge Adventure. The number of Event Tokens you will earn is based on the highest area completed across all of your runs during the current Mastery Challenge. Once you've claimed the Event Tokens for a particular area, you cannot claim the Event Tokens for that area again in a subsequent attempt during this Mastery Challenge.

By enabling Optional Restrictions, you can also earn Mastery Gems, again based on the highest area(s) you have completed in your attempts using one or more Optional Restrictions.

To gain the maximum rewards from a Mastery Challenge, you must reach the max area (currently 2,501) with all of the Optional Restrictions enabled. This is *not* a task that most players will be able to accomplish!

What are Optional Restrictions
Optional Restrictions are additional, challenging restrictions that you can opt into for the Challenge Adventure. Before you can attempt any Optional Restrictions, you must unlock Restriction Slots, which you do by reaching area milestones with the Base Restriction enabled. You can enable multiple Optional Restrictions at once, up to the number of Restriction Slots you have unlocked. You will earn Mastery Gems for completing areas based on the number of Optional Restrictions enabled. You can choose any combination of Optional Restrictions to attempt at once, and you will earn currency based on the number of Optional Restrictions chosen, not the specific Optional Restrictions that are enabled.

What are Mastery Gems?
Mastery Gems are a new type of currency only collectable through a Mastery Challenge. They can be spent on a brand new cosmetic type to deck out the equipment cards of Champions you love: Card Sleeves!

What are Card Sleeves and how do they work?
Card Sleeves are a new card border that you can collect for certain Champions during the Mastery Challenge. This new cosmetic will accent the look of the equipment cards that Champion has! You can equip or remove them from the Champion Page, near where you equip Skins. You can only purchase Card Sleeves for Champions from the current Event.

Do I have to purchase the Card Sleeves during the Mastery Challenge? Can I wait a few weeks?
Card Sleeves are available on the Event tab of the Shop, and you can purchase Card Sleeves for any current Event Champions. They are currently available for purchase only while the Mastery Challenge is active.

Do Mastery Gems go away at the end of the Mastery Challenge?
No! Just like the Optional Challenge Restriction Slots that you can unlock during this Mastery Challenge, the Mastery Gems you earn are yours. You can spend them on Card Sleeves during this Mastery Challenge, or you can hold onto them for another Mastery Challenge to get sleeves for other Champions! If you have any Mastery Gems remaining, they will remain in your inventory.

When is the next Mastery Challenge Scheduled?
At this time, the Mastery Challenge is an Event Augment. As with all Augments, we plan to review player feedback before determining when Mastery Challenges will next appear!
