I. Certainty

Certainty Dran, the heiress apparent of Acquisitions Incorporated, is endowed with knowledge surpassing even her father, Omin Dran, and privileged with access to the finest schools and resources. With a fusion of martial skill, clever magic, and unwavering self-belief, Certainty is certainly an unstoppable force.

III. Certainty's Design

Idle Champions fans will remember the wonderful Jasmine Bhullar as the creator of our March charity familiar, Isra the Infernal Horned Toad. Now we have the pleasure of working with her again on a full Champion! She's an accomplished actress, content creator, Twitch livestreamer, TTRPG performer and Game Master. The most recent PAX West showcased her skills performing for Acquisitions Incorporated and Seattle By Night, and she passes along TTRPG tips and musings in her new show Bronze Dragon Inn.

The Secretarian fills an important interpersonal role in any Acquisitions Incorporated franchise. They are a master of assessing the strengths and weaknesses of others, and then using that information to gain the most value out of them for the company. No one is better at convincing others to do what they want than Certainty Dran. The expert Secretarian's Advice she offers gives Champions in front of her the confidence to do more damage, and if she's working with other Acq Inc or "C" Team Champions then that damage as well as their gold find will be even bigger. Keep her around as she'll increase her effectiveness as you thoroughly finish adventures with her, and when she completes her Employee Evaluations she'll give bonuses if your team has high marks!

Certainty has an obvious soft spot for her father Omin Dran, so she'll help him recruit more Champions of Tymora in the formation. She also loves to support her "Uncle" Jim Darkmagic, and will use the royalty payments from using Jim's Magic Missile as her basic attack to help boost his damage. People who collaborate with Certainty are inspired by her to work smarter and harder, and her Specialization choice will focus that development time into either Intelligence or Charisma. Finally it's not uncommon to need to deal with angry customers, which is why her toy airship is always ready to enlarge and strafe across the battlefield with a barrage of canon fire!

With the force of personality to convince anyone to follow her brilliant tactical advice, Certainty is the ideal employee in any franchise!

IV. Certainty's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Jim's Magic Missile - Certainty fires two magic missiles at random targets.

Formation Abilities

  • Secretarian's Advice - Certainty increases the damage of Champions in the row in front of her by 100%.
  • Reboot Expert - Certainty increases the effect of Secretarian's Advice by 100% each time she has been in an adventure for at least 250 areas when it is reset. This stacks additively and persists through resets.
  • Financing Rounds - Certainty increases the effect of Secretarian's Advice and your Gold Find by 1% for each level on Acquisitions Incorporated or "C" Team Champions in the formation, stacking additively. Each Champion's contribution caps at 1000 levels after their last available upgrade.
  • Dad and Uncle Jim - Certainty helps her father Omin by increasing the damage of Champions of Tymora adjacent to her by 200%, and she helps her "uncle" Jim Darkmagic by increasing his damage by 200% due to royalty payments for using his spell.
  • Employee Evaluations - Certainty assesses the average score of her preferred ability (INT or CHA) of the Champions in the column in front of her and increases the damage effect of Secretarian's Advice by 200% for each full point over 13, stacking multiplicatively.

Specializations

  • Best And The Brightest - Certainty's preferred ability is Intelligence and she grants a +1 INT bonus to all Champions in the column in front of her.
  • Smooth Negotiators - Certainty's preferred ability is Charisma and she grants a +1 CHA bonus to all Champions in the column in front of her.

Ultimate Ability

  • Airship Attack - Certainty manifests a toy Airship which launches into the air and transforms into a larger version. The airship strafes the enemies with multiple shots from a big cannon sticking out the bottom, dealing a massive hit to all the enemies and blasting up to 10 random non-boss non-static enemies off the screen. These monsters don't count towards quest progress or drop gold.

V. Certainty's Epic Equipment

Slot 1: Global DPS
Slot 2: Secretarian's Advice
Slot 3: Reboot Expert
Slot 4: Financing Rounds
Slot 5: Employee Evaluations

Idle Champions: Highharvestide 6
Posted in Idle Champions.

The Savage Frontier of the Sword Coast can be a dangerous place. At the junction of the Long Road and Evermoor Way, the town of Triboar seeks the aid of heroes. Bandits have begun to assail the small town while the citizens are meant to prepare for the Highharvestide Festival...

Highharvestide 6 sees the beginning of Year 6 Events in Idle Champions and the introduction of Egbert from the Oxventurers!

This event also brings back D'hani, the aarakocra monk from Rivals of Waterdeep, and the intimating Minotaur Barbarian Torogar Steelfist. Players have until Monday, October 10th at 12PM Pacific to complete your Highharvestide 6 unlocks and objectives.

I. Egbert

Dungeons & Dragons Egbert Key Art
Clumsy but well-meaning, Egbert the Dragonborn Paladin was summarily booted out of his Paladin order after a terrible incident he doesn’t like to talk about. Setting out on his quest for atonement with a new deity in tow, La Vache Mauve, he falls in with the Oxventurers Guild and, by his reckoning, questing with them offers as good a chance as any of guiding him towards absolution. Often impulsive, he very rarely plans beyond his initial moment of ‘inspiration’ but his heart’s in the right place. Well, at least until he next rushes into battle, trips into a spike pit and it ends up kebabbed on a skewer…

Egbert is a Tanking, Support, Healing, and Gold Find Champion who seeks atonement after being kicked out of his Paladin order. Does he make amends for his past transgressions, or will his companions lead him astray? He can be added to the formation by swapping him out with Minsc (Slot 7).

For more information on Egbert and his abilities, check out his Champion Spotlight Blog or the quick Video Spotlight!

Year Six Variants

  • Variant 1: Delay Tactics - Egbert starts in the formation and can't be moved or removed. Enemies can take at most 10% of their max health per hit in damage for the first 10 seconds after they appear. Speed potions last twice as long.
    Reach Area 75

  • Variant 2: Kicked out of Le Dragon d'Or - Egbert starts in the formation, can't be moved or removed, and his Atone for the Past ability starts out unlocked. If Egbert has positive Atonement points, only Lawful Champions can deal damage. Otherwise, only Chaotic Champions can deal damage.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Variant 3: Egbert the Careless - Egbert starts in the formation and can't be moved or removed. Every 10 seconds, Egbert accidentally drops a lit bomb which bounces back and explodes, dealing a random amount of damage up to the area's number to a random Champion and anyone standing next to them.
    Reach Area 175.

The Savage Frontier of the Sword Coast can be a dangerous place. At the junction of the Long Road and Evermoor Way, the town of Triboar seeks the aid of heroes. Bandits have begun to assail the small town while the citizens are meant to prepare for the Highharvestide Festival...

Highharvestide 5 sees the beginning of Year 5 Events in Idle Champions and the introduction of D'hani from the Rivals of Waterdeep!

This event also brings back the loyal Dwarven Battlerager, Thibbledorf Pwent, and the intimating Minotaur Barbarian Torogar Steelfist. Players have until Monday, October 11th at 12PM Pacific to complete your Highharvestide 5 unlocks and objectives.

    New Champion: D'hani

    Dungeons & Dragons D'hani LaTia

Moving to Waterdeep provided D’hani with more of the opportunities she was searching for after living in Chult. At first, she took a job as a mercenary with the Cassalanter family and tasked with infiltrating and spying on the Rivals. As her familiarity and friendship with the Rivals grew, she preferred to stay with them and continue to help with their adventures. Her skills in combat are impressive, and while she never means to kill anyone, she gets carried away in the thrill of battle where even the most flashy combat maneuvers can be deadly!

D’hani’s love of painting infuses her fighting style with both color and tactics. She becomes more powerful the more her Rivals family is at her side. When you want to add her to your formation, you can swap her with Bruenor (Slot 1)

    II. D’hani’s Stats

    Race: Aarakocra Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Class: Monk (Kensei) Gender: Female
Age: 10 Affiliation: Rivals of Waterdeep

    STR: 11 DEX: 20 CON: 14
    INT: 11 WIS: 20 CHA: 7

    Role: DPS and Gold Find
    Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Vajra
    Slot: 1 (Bruenor)

    Dungeons & Dragons D'hani

    III. D’hani's Design

We were very excited to have the opportunity to work with LaTia Jacquise, who is the Community Relations Coordinator for Monte Cook Games. She is a prolific writer, developer, and streamer with many years of experience in the TTRPG space, with recent contributions to D&D Beyond, DMs Guild, and the Into the Mother Lands RPG. Along with her work as both a player and DM on Rivals of Waterdeep, LaTia can be seen on a variety of streams and shows, including as a cast member for Tampo and a guest on the Dimension 20 show Adventuring Academy.

With a brush in one hand and her other hand prepared to punch, D’hani is ready to Paint Them Red one way or another! She’ll use every color in the rainbow when on the attack. Her Way of the Brush means each time she gets to practice painting an enemy, her skills grow even more deadly! Put this deadly bird into your formation and she'll take down all of your enemies!

For more information on D'hani and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

    Year Five Variants

    • Variant 1: Red Alert! — Champion Damage and Gold Find is reduced by 99%, and enemies who have not been painted by D'hani move 100% faster.
      Reach Area 75.

    • Variant 2: Bullywug Brawl — Bullywugs appear in each formation, but they do not drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress. Only Champions with DEX of 14 or higher can be used.
      Reach Area 125.

    • Variant 3: Doubling Down — The effects of D'hani's specializations are doubled, but quest requirements are also doubled! The bosses also get in on the doubling fun, as in each boss area, a second boss spawns. Both bosses must be defeated in order to progress.
      Reach Area 175.

For information on previous years' variants, check out the Highharvestide 4 blog. And if you have feedback, let us know in a Community Q&A or Champion feedback post on the Idle Champions Subreddit, on the Steam forums, or on the Official Idle Champions Discord!

    Idle Champion Spotlight: D’hani
    Posted in Idle Champions.

Some monks spend every moment they can honing their combat skills, but this Champion would prefer to paint people over pummeling them!

D’hani is an aarakocra monk who traveled to Waterdeep looking for a more exciting life, and she’s certainly found it with the Rivals of Waterdeep! While she would rather enjoy her artistic pursuits, she also will not hesitate to use every part of her body to swiftly defeat anyone who puts her new friends in danger. She joins the Champions, as well as her fellow Rivals Shaka and Selise, next week during Highharvestide!

Her Way of the Brush means each time she gets to practice painting an enemy, her skills grow even more deadly! Put this deadly bird into your formation and she'll take down all of your enemies!

    IV. D’hani's Abilities

    Basic Attack

    • Fists of Fury — D'hani attacks a random painted enemy. If no enemies are painted, D'hani attacks the nearest enemy.

    Formation Abilities

    • Paint Them Red — When D'hani attacks she paints the enemy red, and can paint an enemy up to three times. D'hani's damage is increased by 100% for each stroke of paint she applies, stacking additively.
    • Friendly Rivalry — D'hani is more confident when her friends are around, so her damage is increased by 100% for each Rival of Waterdeep in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
    • Way of the Brush — D'hani's damage is increased by 100%, and she keeps track of the total number of enemies she has painted across all time - this count persists between resets. D'hani's practice with layers of paint increases as the total number of painted enemies increases, and at certain milestones she gains another Layer of Way of the Brush, which increases this effect by an additional 100%, stacking multiplicatively. Once D'hani reaches Layer 10, each additional enemy painted increases the buff by 0.03% additively.

    Specializations

    • Splash of Yellow — Enemies D'hani paints also gain a splash of yellow, with a max of 1 application per enemy. Enemies painted in this way drop 200% more gold when they are killed, regardless of who kills them.
    • Stroke of Green — Enemies D'hani paints also gain a stroke of green, with a max of 1 application per enemy. Enemies painted in this way cause D'hani's attacks against them to damage nearby enemies as well at 50% damage. This effect does not chain, but does apply 1 stack of red and a stroke of green to the enemies it damages.
    • Blotch of Blue — Enemies D'hani paints also gain a blotch of blue, with a max of 1 application per enemy. Enemies painted in this way are stunned for 2 seconds when D'hani attacks them and boss enemies painted in this way take 400% more damage from all attacks.

    Ultimate Ability

    • Flurry of Brushes — D'hani pulls a quiver of sharpened paintbrushes from her robes and flings them out at 5 random enemies. They deal damage and apply D'hani's paints to all enemies they hit! If multiple brushes hit an enemy, it will gain multiple stacks of red paint if possible.

    V. D'hani’s Equipment

    Slot 1: Self DPS
    Slot 2: Self DPS
    Slot 3: Painter’s Smock
    Slot 4: Sash
    Slot 5: Ultimate Damage
    Slot 6: Ultimate Cooldown

    VI. Conclusion

We’re thrilled to have another member of Rivals of Waterdeep in our Champion roster and can’t wait to see D’hani painting her way into your formation! If you want to find out more about all the Rivals of Waterdeep you can check out their shows as livestreams or podcasts!

    Idle Champions: Highharvestide 4
    Posted in Idle Champions.

The Savage Frontier of the Sword Coast can be a dangerous place. At the junction of the Long Road and Evermoor Way, the town of Triboar seeks the aid of heroes. Bandits have begun to assail the small town while the citizens are meant to prepare for the Highharvestide Festival...

Highharvestide 4 sees the beginning of Year 4 Events in Idle Champions and the introduction of the savage Minotaur Barbarian bodyguard to Arkhan the Cruel and the third Champion from the Dark Order: Torogar Steelfist!

This event also brings back the loyal Dwarven Battlerager, Thibbledorf Pwent, and the Tiefling Pact of the Fiend Warlock, Farideh. Players have until Monday, October 5th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Highharvestide 4 unlocks and objectives.

For more information about Year 4 Events and how they work, please check out our Year 4 Events Dev Blog.

    New Champion: Torogar Steefist

    Torogar's Bio

There's savage, and then there's Torogar. Few had even survived a head-to-head match with him before he ran into Arkhan the Cruel. He was known worlds over as an unstoppable brute. Now, as a part of the Dark Order, Torogar leads armies and communes with a god, but he's always down for another one-on-one match.

    Torogar's Stats

    Race: Minotaur Alignment: Lawful Evil
    Class: Barbarian Gender: Male
    Age: 32 Affiliation: Dark Order

    STR: 23 DEX: 17 CON: 14
    INT: 8 WIS: 9 CHA: 15

    Role: DPS, Support
    Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Vajra
    Slot: 10 (Tyril)

    Torogar's Formation Abilities

Torogar is a support and DPS Champion who powers up Evil Champions. While blood raging, he increases the damage of the formation significantly, with permanent power-ups that unlock the more you use him. His DPS and buffs increase with his devotion to Tiamat through his Zealot stacks, affecting his Markings of a Zealot & Preach abilities. Initially, Torogar only gets a Zealot stack when he or an adjacent Champion kills an enemy, however, his Word of Tiamat specialization extends this power to all evil Champions.

Torogar is a lynchpin for evil formations, doubling down on the boosts they are already receiving from other Dark Order members — Arkhan the Cruel & Krull — and making them stronger as they push further into the adventure.

For more information on Torogar and his abilities, check out his Champion Spotlight!

    Year Four Variants

    • An Abyssal Mess — Two Abyssal Chickens start in the formation and every 25 areas, ANOTHER Abyssal Chicken joins the fun. The Abyssal Chickens don't do much, they just like hanging out with you..
      Reach Area 75.

    • CONfirmed Sightings — The Resurrected Hero of the Vale appears in area 25 as an additional boss, where you'll need to defeat him. Again. Only Champions with CON of 14 or higher can be used.
      Reach Area 125.

    • The Dark Order Arrives — Torogar & Arkhan start in the formation and cannot be moved. Only members of the Dark Order (Torogar, Arkhan, and Krull) can deal damage. All other Champions have their DPS disabled, but their formation abilities are active.
      Reach Area 175.

For information on previous years' variants, check out the Highharvestide 3 blog.

    Idle Champions: Highharvestide 3
    Posted in Idle Champions.

The Savage Frontier of the Sword Coast can be a dangerous place. At the junction of the Long Road and Evermoor Way, the town of Triboar seeks the aid of heroes. Bandits have begun to assail the small town while the citizens are meant to prepare for the Highharvestide Festival...

Highharvestide 3 sees the beginning of Year 3 Events and the introduction of one of the fiercest and most loyal allies to the Companions of the Hall: Thibbledorf Pwent, Dwarven Battlerager! Our first Y3 Event also brings back the Y2 and Y1 Champions to unlock: Stoki, the Rock Gnome Monk, and Farideh, the Tiefling Warlock. For more information about how Y3 Events work, check out our Year 3 Events Dev Blog.

Players have until Monday, October 7th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Highharvestide 3 unlocks and objectives.

    New Champion: Thibbledorf Pwent

Despite a reputation as a loud, gruff, and stinky dwarf who hates bathing, Thibbledorf Pwent is a loyal and beloved member of Clan Battlehammer. Known as 'Pwent' to his friends, he leads the Gutbusters of Mithral Hall, a dwarven battlerager squad focused on direct combat with little regard for their own safety. He wears armor completely covered in spikes to help rend the flesh of his enemies, and in the midst of battle Pwent often falls into a bloodrage, doing anything to protect his allies.

While not an official member of the Companions of the Hall, Pwent will always aid his King when possible — even beyond death...
Thibbledorf Pwent is a Dwarven Battlerager Barbarian and Support Champion. His attacks cause enemies to bleed, he can boost ally damage for adjacent Champions, and he greatly buffs dwarves and Companions of the Hall members in the formation. When you want to add Thibbledorf to your party, you may swap him with Calliope (Slot 5).

    Year 2 Champion: Farideh

Abandoned as an infant and adopted by an outcast dragonborn warrior, Farideh grew to adulthood acutely aware of the drawbacks of being a tiefling. Despite doing everything she could to reassure her neighbors, including keeping her wild twin sister, Havilar, out of trouble, the villagers focused on Farideh as the one who would embrace the dark side of herself. They weren’t wrong.

When Havilar tried to summon an imp to practice her blade on, she drew the attention of Lorcan, a cambion looking to make warlock pacts with the descendants of one of the first Infernal warlocks, the Brimstone Angel. But Havilar was always meant for the glaive--and Farideh would do anything to keep her sister safe. While Lorcan, Asmodeus, and the Nine Hells do their utmost to corrupt her, Farideh isn’t interested in power so much as defending the world from demons, the undead, and any other villains trying to bring trouble or drag her friends and family into danger. Even being made the Chosen of Asmodeus--something Asmodeus isn’t going to explain to Farideh or anybody else--just means she has more magic to turn against the powers of evil.
Farideh is a DPS Champion with a tank-synergy twist. She attacks using Scorching Ray and will use Hellish Rebuke against enemies who attack either her or adjacent Champions. When you want to add Farideh to your party, you can swap her with Minsc (Slot 7).

For more information about Farideh, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Farideh dev blog!

    Year 1 Champion: Stoki

Born Stami Gackle, she fled her home after a terrible accident at a young age and joined a monastery of the Even Hand to study ki. An adept monk and extremely capable adventurer, her thoughtful approach to problems has earned her a reputation as an uncommonly stoic Rock Gnome.
Stoki is a DPS and Support Champion, able to attack multiple enemies. Furthermore, enemies damaged by Stoki will drop additional gold when killed. When you want to add Stoki to your party, you can swap her with Jarlaxle (Slot 4).

    Year Three Variants

    • Underdark Reinforcements — Drow cultists appear alongside the enemies in each area, seeking to further Loth's dominion. Each cultist deals double damage. Additionally, they can only be damaged once they have been bled by Thibbledorf.
      Reach Area 75.

    • The Plague Cometh — Cursed Cows spawn randomly in each area. If any of them reach the formation, the Champion they damage becomes cursed. Cursed Champions deal no damage and have max health halved. After 5 seconds, the curse spreads to adjacent Champions.
      Reach Area 125.

    • Somebody's Poisoned the Well! — The bandits have poisoned the well! Luckily, Thibbledorf has some Gutbuster flasks to help. Champions lose health every time they attack. Thibbledorf is not affected by the poison.
      Reach Area 175.

    Year Two Variants

    • Asmodeus is Watching — Cultists of Asmodeus randomly spawn alongside the normal monster waves. They drop no gold when killed.
      Reach Area 75.

    • It's Quite A Puzzle — Only champions with Intelligence/INT score of 12 or higher are allowed in the formation.
      Reach Area 125.

    • Time to Step Up — Asmodeus is testing Farideh. You start with Farideh in your formation, however, she is the only Champion that can deal damage. All other Champions' damage is reduced to 0, but they continue to grant buffs.
      Reach Area 175.

    Year One Variants

    • The Farmer's Kids — The Farmer's Daughter and Son block two slots in the formation.
      Reach Area 75.

    • Due Diligence — Quest requirements are doubled.
      Reach Area 125.

    • Wanton Necromancy — Undead enemies randomly spawn alongside the normal monsters. These additional enemies drop no gold.
      Reach Area 175.

    Idle Champion Spotlight: Thibbledorf Pwent
    Posted in Idle Champions.

It's time for our next Idle Champion Spotlight! Today, we're previewing our newest Champion: Thibbledorf Pwent. Yes, you read that right. The hygiene-lacking dwarven battlerager from Mithral Hall is "launching" (get it?) tomorrow! Read on to learn all about the dwarven wrecking ball who strongly supports a dwarven formation with some additional Companions of the Hall support!

    I. "Thibbledorf" Who?

When you want to add Pwent to your party, you may swap him with Calliope (Slot 5).

    II. Pwent's Stats

Class: Barbarian (Battlerager) Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Race: Dwarf Gender: Male
    Age: 176 Affiliation: None

    STR: 18 DEX: 14 CON: 17
    INT: 9 WIS: 12 CHA: 8

Eligible for Patrons: Vajra & Mirt

    III. Pwent's Design

Pwent was an interesting nut to crack. He's always been a side character in the Legend of Drizzt novels. Not a "member" of the Companions, but eventually becoming a valued friend and ally. As his story wound to a close, he showed true bravery, love, and faithfulness to his king, Bruenor.

We started discussing Pwent around the time of Wulfgar's design, in 2018. There were so many different ways we could have introduced him. We discussed using him as Wulfgar's ultimate, having his ghostly form race out of the horn. However, being a fan of him in the books, I really wanted the spiky battlerager in the game as a Champion.

When it came time to design him, we had two routes: Battlerager Pwent, or Vampire Pwent. While Vampire Pwent sounds awesome (Vampire Champion when?), I have a soft spot in my heart for the old boy and I didn't want to represent him in the form that he truly hated. Instead, I chose to go back to his roots: the gruff battlerager who dons a set of armor filled to the brim with spikes, who runs ahead and slices and dices his enemies.

By focusing on his pre-undead form, we could highlight his allies more. As Pwent's design grew, I realized that this stalwart dwarf from Mithral Hall was a great lynchpin for a dwarven fighting force. He is the leader of the Gutbuster Brigade after all. Oh, you haven't heard about the Gutbusters? They are a group of dwarven battleragers Pwent founded. They focused less on strategic plans and more on just running into battle. With the Gutbusters, the cannon fodder is filled with spikes and coming right at you!

Pwent's final design is something I'm really proud of. Not only does he make Barrowin relevant again, he also helps elevate Binwin and Bruenor in an especially big way.

    IV. Pwent's Abilities

    Basic Attack

    • Spiked Hug — Pwent headbutts a random enemy using his spiked armor to inflict a DOT bleed effect. That bleed effect is key to his big formation ability: Count 'Em Off.
      • The enemies will have a red blood drop effect while the bleed is active. When it is no longer damaging them, the blood drop turns black, so you know that they were affected, but it's no longer doing damage.

    Formation Abilities

    • Count 'Em Off — Whenever an enemy that is or was affected by Pwent's bleed effect is killed (including if it is killed outright by Pwent), he gains one stack on this ability. Pwent increases the damage of all Champions by 20% for each stack of Count 'Em Off, stacking multiplicatively. The stacks cap at 25, and every 12 seconds, the stack total is reduced by 25%.
    • Battlerager — When Pwent attacks, if he attacks an enemy that has already been affected by his bleed effect (active or inactive), there is a 33% chance that he'll attack again immediately.
    • Can You SMELL That? — Champions that are adjacent to Pwent have their base attack cool downs increased by 8 seconds, divided by the number of Champions affected. This effect has a hard cap of 20 seconds per affected Champion in cases where other Champion's abilities can increase the effect.
    • Gutbuster Recruits — Champions affected by Can You SMELL That? have their base damage increased by 75% for each second their cooldown is increased by, stacking multiplicatively and counting partial seconds. This effect is doubled on dwarves.
    • Bruenor, Me King! — While not a member of the Companions of the Hall, Pwent fully supports them in their quests. Pwent increases the Bounty of the Hall pool (gold find) by 100% and increases the effect of Count 'Em Off by 100% if you have at least 1 Companion of the Hall (Bruenor, Drizzt, Catti-brie, Wulfgar, or Regis) adjacent to Pwent.

    Specializations

    • Counting Class — Increases the effect of Count 'Em Off by 100%.
    • Bloodstained Armor — Increases the chance to attack again with Battlerager by 50%.
    • Dwarven Hair Grease — It's all-natural! Increases the total cooldown of Can You SMELL That? by 5 seconds.

    Ultimate Ability

    • Round 'em up! — Pwent dashes quickly around the area rounding up all available enemies and then stuns, damages, and inflicts a bleed effect on them. He attacks up to 10 enemies in this way, applying his bleed to all of them, and (if not static) forcing them into a position in the middle of the screen (between the formation and the wall), stunning them for 5 seconds.

    V. Pwent's Equipment

    VI. Conclusion

Pwent will hopefully unlock a whole new dwarven formation, with Binwin, Bruenor, Barrowin, and himself. He also slides into any Companions of the Hall formation. Try him out and let us know what you think of this spiky dwarf!

    Idle Champions: Highharvestide 2
    Posted in Idle Champions.

Faerûn's Savage Frontier has no shortage of dangers, but that hasn't stopped the citizens of Triboar from carving out a living in this picturesque stretch of fertile northern farmland.

This year, however, the people of Triboar are in need of aid. As the Highharvestide Festival approaches, bandits have begun causing trouble for farmers attempting to bring in their harvests, and it's up to the Champions to put an end to it!

Highharvestide 2 is our first Year Two Event, which runs until Monday, October 15th at 12:00pm Pacific. Highharvestide 2 also introduces Farideh, the Tiefling Warlock protagonist from the Brimstone Angels novels, and also brings back Stoki, the Rock Gnome Monk!

    Our Approach to Highharvestide 2

When we began our approach to Year Two of Highharvestide, the first decision we made was to polish to our work from Year One. We started by playing through the event, pausing to discuss what we would do differently if we had designed the event today with an additional year of tools, monsters, and knowledge.

We approached the event with the following questions:
    • Can the backgrounds be updated, or should we use different ones?
    • We updated the lighting on a few of the backgrounds to better match the text.
    • Are there better monsters we could be using?
    • We added the new Red Wizard Evokers from the Tomb of Annihilation campaign, and we also mixed up the groups of bandits and added wizards that actually attack with fire that matches the text.
    • Should any boss monsters flee or have additional tech added?
    • The Resurrected Hero of the Vale is now hits-based and cleaves the first 2 rows. It seems it is getting cranky about constantly being resurrected.
    • Are all the quest icons and portraits polished?
    • They all were.
    • Are there any location or event-specific distractions we could add?
    • For Highharvestide 2 we didn't, but we look forward to adding pumpkins to Liars' Night!
    • Should we update any text?
    • We fixed a few typos, and we will be updating the dialogue to include more Event Champions in future updates.

You'll be able to play through the updated event during Highharvestide, but also when you go through a Time Gate for Farideh or Stoki in the future!

As you can see above, both Champions have their own track of Adventures and Variants. They both use the same event currency – in this case, Harvest Baskets for Highharvestide. You will earn chests for the corresponding champion by playing through their variants. For example, Stoki Free Plays will grant Stoki Silver and Gold Chests, and Farideh Free Plays will grant Farideh Silver and Gold Chests.

If you didn't complete all of Stoki's variants or achievements last year, you'll be able to pick up right where you left off. If you did complete them, you can still play through her free plays. As an added bonus, all Year One Adventures and Variants have had their cost reduced by 75% for Year Two! We also updated the Free Play costs for both Year One and Year Two events. They will each start at 500 Harvest Baskets. Every time you complete a Free Play within one of the two tracks, the cost of that Free Play will increase by 500, to a maximum of the normal Event Free Play cost of 2500 Event Tokens!

Side note: We appreciate all the feedback we had during the Year 2 Event Q&A last week — thank you :)

As a final update, the new Year Two track of The Bandit Harvest adventure and variants will have a new formation to help keep things fresh! This formation will also remain for future Farideh Time Gate runs.

When you log in and click on the Highharvestide notification, you'll see the two Champions listed. You can select either of them to see their Champion details, as well as see how far you've progressed in their track of The Bandit's Harvest.

We hope you all enjoy the updates we've made to The Bandit's Harvest!

    Idle Champion Spotlight - Farideh
    Posted in Idle Champions.

Welcome to our next Champion Spotlight design blog!

Today, we're going to go into detail on our newest Champion: Farideh, the Tiefling Warlock.

Farideh will be available in our first Year Two Event: Highharvestide, launching TOMORROW (October 3rd)! I hope this blog will give you all you need to know about our latest champion.

    How you can unlock Farideh:

Farideh is unlocked by playing Highharvestide, a limited-time event launching on October 3rd and running until October 15th. Once you unlock Farideh, she swaps with Minsc or Catti-brie.

Farideh will be sharing Highharvestide with last year's Champion: Stoki, the Gnome Monk! Don't worry - you'll be able to unlock both of them if you haven't already unlocked Stoki.

    Who is Farideh:

Farideh is a character from the from the Brimstone Angels D&D Novel series written by Erin M. Evans.

    Farideh's Design:

We were excited to have a fully fleshed-out 5th edition stat block, which gave us a great place to start from a mechanical standpoint. Between the stat block and our knowledge of the Brimstone Angels series, we reached out to Erin M. Evans, the author of the books Farideh appeared in, to see if she was interested in working with us to make our version of Farideh. Luckily for us, Erin was game for anything we threw at her. She worked closely with us, reviewing the design, sketches, and the equipment pieces. She also helped come up with some really fun GIFs, like this one showing Farideh enjoying her tea with WAY too much sugar.

We decided early that we wanted to place Farideh into slot 7 (Minsc, Catti-brie) and we wanted her to be a pure DPS character. I found her Hellish Rebuke ability super compelling. I really liked the idea of giving her a reaction-based ability to push back against the horde. From there, Justin and I sketched out the rough design and passed it over to Erin who enjoyed it as much as we did!

Base Attack - Scorching Ray: Farideh starts in your formation with her Scorching Ray attack. Scorching Ray begins with 3 rays of fire that attack random enemies. As Farideh increases in level, the number of rays she creates increases, which increases her DPS. Her DPS is key to her design as you'll see shortly.

Hellish Rebuke: When you unlock Hellish Rebuke, you start to tap into the infernal power that Farideh controls. Whenever an enemy hits Farideh, they take damage back equal to a percentage of Farideh's DPS. It starts as a modest percentage, but as you gain levels, and earn better slot 3 equipment, that percentage increases. On my dev server, each Hellish Rebuke is currently dealing 1,300% of her DPS!

Chosen of Asmodeus: Being a chosen of Asmodeus has to grant you some sort of advantage, right? When you unlock this ability, she grants Hellish Rebuke to champions adjacent to her. This means that when enemies attack Champions adjacent to Farideh in the formation, those enemies will take damage from Hellish Rebuke. Even though this damage is coming FROM a different Champion, the calculation is based on Farideh's DPS, so put her behind your tank(s) to maximize her damage dealing capabilities!

Pact Family: Farideh and her twin sister Havilar were orphaned at a young age. They understand the sting of growing up as a Tiefling. Because of that, Farideh's damage increases based on the number of Tieflings in the formation. Bring out Makos & Strix. It's time for a Tiefling party!

    Farideh's Specializations:

With Farideh's specializations, we wanted to help you decide how you want to use Farideh's Hellish Rebuke based on your formation.
You can either use Dark One's Luck to expand the range of Hellish Rebuke, granting it to Champions within 2 slots of her, or you can increase her damage with Dark One's Blessing, which also increases the damage output of Hellish Rebuke to those Champions that have access to it.

    Farideh's Ultimate Attack:

Farideh's Infernal Aspect is a new ability granted to her as a Chosen of Asmodeus. With it, she can project an aura of menace, affecting her enemies and causing them to be frightened. In our game, that means she's going to sprout a pair of fiery wings for the duration of the ability, tapping into her infernal connection. She pushes enemies back, slowing them for the duration of the ultimate, while she also damages a random enemy EVERY second, for 15 seconds.

Look out, baddies. We've got an angry tiefling!

    Farideh's Equipment

    Slot 1: Amulet
    • Farideh's amulet increases her damage.
    Slot 2: Magical Rod
    • Farideh's chosen focus increases her damage.
    Slot 3: Spellbook
    • Farideh's book increases the effect of her Hellish Rebuke ability.
    Slot 4: Armor
    • Farideh's armor increases the effect of her Pact Family ability.
    Slot 5: Wroth Deck
    • Farideh's wroth deck increases her Ultimate Attack damage.
    Slot 6: Chapbooks
    • The chapbooks that Havilar continues to loan Farideh reduce the cooldown of her Ultimate Attack.

What about any other Farideh Details I'm looking for?

Farideh is Neutral Good, and her stats are as follows:
    Str: 10 Dex: 14 Con: 14 Int: 14 Wis: 13 Cha: 18

    Champion Rebalance

Fariedh received the following changes as part of an update on October 8th 2021:
    • We've added a new ability - Sister Sister (Farideh)
      • Increase the effect of Pact Family by 500% when Havilar is in the formation.

    TL/DR- Final Farideh Thoughts

Farideh uses her Hellish Rebuke as an unlimited reaction to deal damage to enemies that attack her or Champions in the Formation she wants to support. She wants to work with other Tieflings and stay near your tanks. She's a DPS character that you'll want to buff, especially when facing down an enemy that attacks multiple Champions!

We'll be watching the discussion online and on discord to see how well she's received, so let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, or on the official Discord! If you are enjoying Farideh, consider checking out the Brimstone Angels series by Erin M. Evans. It's a good read!
