BW2: Generation 9 Pets are Here!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Gotta find 'em all! A new selection of cute and scaly critters are now available to be your companions!

Those weirdly random abandoned eggs scattered all over Bushwachkia have been switched up and all new pets are ready to hatch when you accept the "Find an Egg" quest from Misty. She will also have all the Generation 8 eggs available to purchase for Bush Bucks during the "Find an Egg" quest.

Other changes to Misty and Hank for Generation 9:
  • Misty will no longer let players abandon Gen 8 pet eggs that they are hatching (they're now too rare). Only current generation pet eggs can be abandoned during hatching. Please note that if you're in the middle of hatching a pet, then that egg will still hatch into whatever pet it would have been before.

  • Generation 8 pet eggs can now be found in Quester's Satchels (with the same limitations as the Generation 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 eggs, which will still be available in satchels as well.) Generation 8 pet eggs are now more expensive to buy with DNA in the PAGAS store.

  • Hank now sells a random assortment of hatched level 1 Generation 9 pets (instead of Generation 8) for Bush Bucks in his pet store.

PAGAS changes for Generation 9:
  • Generation 9 pet eggs are available to buy with DNA in the PAGAS store, once you have hatched at least five (5) Generation 9 pets.

  • The Pet Progress dialog now includes Generation 9 pets. Another 10 new pets that all players can unlock!

And now, without further ado, the information you've all been waiting for:

Generation 9 Pets:
  • Angler Fish
  • Arctic Fox
  • Blood spider
  • Brachiosaurus
  • Kiwi
  • Maine Coon
  • Narwhal
  • Scorpion
  • Sea Monster
  • Woolly Mammoth

Dev Blog: Introducing Time Gates
Posted in Idle Champions.

Hey everyone! Justin here from the Codename team with another developer blog for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. This time we're talking about Time Gates, a new feature that you can access RIGHT NOW in-game.

One of the most common questions we see from players involves when they can recruit event Champions that they missed - either because they started playing after an event or because they weren't able to play an event for whatever reason. This has been a priority of ours for some time now, and we've spent a considerable amount of time trying to determine the best way(s) to introduce this feature. Time Gates are our first pass at that feature.

They work like this: Thanks to the power of Mystra, the goddess of magic, every few weeks (on most weekends when there's no event running) three Time Gates will magically become available. You can find a countdown until the next natural Time Gates on the Time Gates dialog, which you can access from the main screen or the campaign map.

Clicking the Time Gate button on the main menu or the banner on the campaign map will take you to the Time Gate dialog.

Each Time Gate allows you to unlock and/or gear up a specific event Champion, though the available Champions are randomized and unique for each player each time the Gates appear. There will always be at least one Champion you don't have recruited available, unless you already have them all. You can only pick ONE Time Gate to open each time the Time Gates become available, so choose wisely. The other two options will be lost in time once you've made your choice, at least until the next Time Gates become available.

You can see how many Time Gate Pieces you've collected in the upper left of the Time Gate Dialog. Whenever you obtain a Time Gate reward, the difficulty for the next Time Gate adventure for that champion is increased by 25. Whenever you don't select that champion on a future Time Gate, the difficulty will decrease by 25. Note: This image is from the Dev Build.

Once you've chosen the Time Gate you can complete adventures through that Gate to earn rewards. Each time you complete a Time Gate adventure you earn favor with Mystra and, if you reach a certain level, a reward. The rewards are chests for the chosen Champion and, if you don't already have them recruited, the Champion themself. Once you've earned two rewards you can continue to do Time Gate adventure free plays to earn more Mystra favor, but you won't earn any more Champion chests.

Make sure to complete your current adventure before you open a Time Gate so you can play immediately.

Mystra favor can be converted to a permanent favor when the Time Gate closes. The conversion rate is about a quarter of what you get for normal events, but it's still enough to provide a good boost to your Torm, Kelemvor, or Helm favor for new and veteran players alike.

So a new Champion and/or two Champion chests every three weeks or so. Sounds good, right? But what about all the time in between Time Gates? Well we've provided a mechanic to open Time Gates manually, via Time Gate Pieces. Time Gate Pieces drop randomly in boss loot sacks (there's an internal cooldown, so farming won't help you get them faster), and once you've collected six of them you can manually open a Time Gate, assuming a natural Gate won't be opening soon. Manually opened Gates function exactly the same as naturally opened Gates, with a random selection of Champions to pick from and two rewards to claim.

But what if you don't want chests for any of the Champions available in a Time Gate? We've got you covered. If a Time Gate closes and you haven't earned some of the rewards, you'll gain a Time Gate Fragment for each of the unearned rewards, giving you a head start on opening another Gate manually.

Time Gate Pieces will drop from boss loot sacks. You also collect one if you don't receive a Time Gate reward.

Time Gates are available in game RIGHT NOW, with the first natural Gate already open and waiting for you to step through. You can also find an FAQ in-game with more detailed information about Time Gates, the adventure objectives, and the rewards. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Happy 6th Anniversary Bushwhackia!

Your friends in the Commons event area are up to something--and they need your help!

Be warned, this post contains SPOILERS for the event! You may want to play the first couple days of the event before reading these details!

The developers of Bush Whacker 2 are running the turn-in stations. Over the course of the event, you can find Typo Reports, Bug Reports and Suggestions in the bushes to turn in for event progress. Can you flood the poor developers with enough to earn the 100% Mosaic Piece?

Four daily quests will help you gain progress as well, starting with the quest for Gnome parts. The developer gnome quest has been updated with 8 more gnomes. Each completion will award you a random developer gnome and there are now 16 of us to collect. Note, if this is your first time doing the event, you'll get 2 gnomes per turn in.

Later on, there will be a daily quest to test your Bush Whacker knowledge with trivia questions, plus the return of Linus (from Halloween) who will have a sweet reward and of course, 6 years of whacking bushes has taken its tole, so it's best if you help to replant.

Do you have a favourite outfit from among the all the Custom Items over the years? Well, you can now show them off! Once you build the Costume Contest area, you can enter your favourite outfit and vote. New winners will be chosen daily, and will get a small treat.

Familiar friends, like Nate and Kaine, will also have quests as the event goes one.

New for 2018: We've added 2 new quests that will show up during the event, and in one you'll be helping out artist Georgia!

FAQ

How do I participate in the Easter Egg Hunt?
Talk to the NPC under the Easter Egg Hunt banner to be teleported to the hunting zone.

What do I do in the Easter Egg Hunt zone?
Click on all the crates, barrels, rocks and bushes trying to find as many eggs as you can. There are only 20 eggs hidden in all the doodads.

How do I get a perfect score in the Easter Egg Hunt?
You need to collect all 20 eggs - basically not letting any of the other hunters find any.

I’m too slow at the Hunt. How can I be better?
The NPC with the wizard hat in the event area of the Commons sells boosts for Easter Tokens. Speed up your character and distract the other hunters with his wares. Also, travel in a circle, starting in the area closest to where everyone else is being distracted. And don't click on the searchable items themselves, click beside them. Clicking on the item causes you to walk slower.

When will the last quest unlock?
All quests will be unlocked by the 10th day of the event.

What contributes to my 100% progress?
Turning in the Unpainted Eggs, the Dye and the Wax as well as completing the Easter Egg Hunt and the quests for the folks in the event area.

Why do I want to ask friends for help?
It increases the amount of progress you get from doing a turn-in.

Do I have to do the achievements?
No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.

Where can I see the achievements available and how to get them?
Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

When can I do the World Wide Easter Egg Hunt?
The World Wide Easter Egg Hunt starts on Easter Sunday - April 1st - and lasts for the rest of the event.

Where do I find World Wide Easter Egg Hunt Eggs?
Once the hunt has started, you can find eggs by clicking them in many of the zones in the world. Eggs are hidden behind rocks and trees and in tricky to access locations in normal zones, secret areas, and adventure zones all over the world. Not every area has an egg hidden in it. There are 75 eggs hidden throughout the world in total, but you'll need to be done most of the content in the game to find them all.
