COTLI: Superhero Spring 5!

No matter how perilous the world becomes, hope still remains.

An ageless paragon of hope has arrived to save the day! Adina the Wonderful embodies power and grace, and she's here to lead the Hero League to victory...

Superhero Spring 5 has begun!

This year's event runs until Wednesday, April 8th at 12PM PDT, introducing Adina the Wonderful and bringing back Deathpuddle, Thoonoose, Foresight, Arachnobuddy, Metal Soldierette, and Bat Billionaire!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Adina the Wonderful

Power. Grace. Wonder. Words are not quite enough to describe the latest Crusader, Adina the Wonderful.

As a Paragon, Adina increases Global DPS for each Superhero Crusader in the formation. Justice for All allows Adina to make heroes of the Crusaders around her, giving the Superhero tag to adjacent Crusaders in the formation. Her Hero League ability causes the Self-DPS formation abilities of Crusaders in her column to apply to all other Crusaders in the column at 10% effectiveness (note: this cannot be propogated or mimicked).

With Ageless Life Adina's DPS is multiplied 4x for every 25 levels over (and including) 200. Her Growing Compassion and Be True abilities increase Global DPS. And finally, as an Expert Commander Adina allows the formation abilities of Crusaders in her column to be active regardless of their requirements (note: this cannot be propogated).

An ageless hero that embodies wonder, power, and grace, Adina the Wonderful is sure to lead any heroic formation to victory!

Area 301 to 400: Only Tier 4 Crusaders can be used. Area 401 onwards: Only Tier 5 Crusaders can be used. On death, normal monsters spawn more monsters with special powers.

COTLI: Hermit's Premature Party 5!

Hermit is always extra excited at this time of year, and 2020 is no different!

As St. Patrick's Day approaches, the Washed-Up Hermit triples his efforts to provide the latest Premature Party, drawing the attention of a being ancient and wise. Inviting himself to this year's soiree is Tiernan, an angel responsible for the three realms and guiding lost souls. But this angel is no stranger to St. Patrick's Day -- in fact, he claims to have been the inspiration to Saint Patrick over 1500 years ago...

Welcome to Hermit's Premature Party 5!

This year's event runs until Tuesday, March 17th at 12PM PDT, introducing Tiernan and bringing back Ana Guinness, Saint Patroika, Squiggles the Clown, Snickette the Sneaky, Kyle the Party Bro, and Larry the Leprechaun!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Tiernan

The angel Tiernan has watched over the realms for ages, guiding souls and safeguarding the natural world.

Tír na nÓg, Seed of the Earth, and Three Realms boost the damage potential of Crusaders. Druidic Patterns propagates formation abilities on Tiernan to all Crusaders adjacent to exactly three formation slots.

Butterflies circle around Tiernan as part of Tryptych Display, which gives him his second and third Angel and Good tags.

Gold-o-rama has never been better than with Tiernan in the formation. Lost Souls improves Group DPS while Gold-o-rama is active, and Nectar Scented offers a 10% chance that when a boss is first killed in an area, the Gold-o-rama cooldown may be instantly reset.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Tiernan | Tiernan takes up a slot in the formation. Crusaders only do DPS when Gold-o-Rama is active.
    Quest Requirements x 7
    Reach area 400.

  • Seeing Green | The formation is now ramp-shaped. Crusaders at the end of or under the ramp have their DPS disabled.
    Quest Requirements x 7
    Reach area 450.

  • Seeing Double | Crusader copies are the only monsters attacking your formation, and are tough to kill.
    Quest Requirements x 7
    Reach area 475.

  • Seeing Into The Void | A Black Hole occupies a slot in formation and steals your gold and quest items. The Black Hole gradually reduces your DPS to 0 if you take too long to complete an area.
    Quest Requirements x 7
    Reach area 500.

  • Seeing Divinity | Only Angel Crusaders can be used. Crusaders with the 'Good' tag receive a buff to their formation abilities.
    Quest Requirements x 7
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled St. Patrick's Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. COTLI: Merci's Mix-Up 5!

Merci is nothing if not tenacious. After four years of trying to find a match for a Valentine's Day outing, he's still game to try and try again with help from his ever growing collection of friends.

This year he's bringing in the big guns: a professional Matchmaker!

It's time for Merci's Mix-Up 5!

Merci's Mix-Up 5 runs until Wednesday, February 26th at 12PM PST, introducing Alacrity the Matchmaker and bringing back Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, Frankie the Demon Crooner, and Ishtar!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Alacrity the Matchmaker

Alacrity the Matchmaker isn't your stereotypical demon. They're bubbly, vivacious and willing to help out your team with their skills, and some help from their impish friends.

The flow of magic in your formation will affect Alacrity with the Metamorphosis Mastery upgrade. When you have more magical than non-magical tagged Crusaders next to Alacrity, they'll change into their female self. When it's more non-magical than magical adjacent, Alacrity will switch to their male self. If there's a even amount of magical and non-magical Crusaders around them, they'll remain their bubbly Non-Binary self.

Alacrity is so friendly, that they're able to summon 3 Imp friends to help them, and you, out:
  • Summon Scamp - If Alacrity is adjacent to at least 2 Support tagged Crusaders, they'll summon Scamp. When Scamp is active, monster spawn speed is increased by 50%. This is buffed when Alacrity is in their male form, and can be buffed by their Love Meter equipment.

  • Summon Trickster - When there are at least 2 Angel or Demon tagged Crusaders in the formation, Trickster will be summoned. While Trickster is around, they'll summon a special Imp monster every 10 seconds, which counts for area progress and drop extra gold when killed. Spawns will double when Alacrity is in their Non-Binary form and you can reduce the summoning timer by collecting Alacrity's Letterhead gear.

  • Summon Scoundrel - When Alacrity is adjacent to at least 4 other Crusaders, Scoundrel will show up. Scoundrel provides the formation with a 50% global DPS buff per each adjacent Crusader, which is increased when Alacrity is female.

  • Familiarity - The imps continue to help out with this upgrade, providing an extra buff to the gold find provided for having Crusaders who share tags with Alacrity in formation.
When you want to add Alacrity to your formation, you can find them in slot 31 on the bench, swapping with Bridget and Xygallix.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Alacrity | Alacrity is chilling out in a slot in the formation and reduces all Crusaders DPS to 0 if there are an unequal number of Male and Female Crusaders in it.
    Reach area 400.

  • Pairing Off | If any Crusaders have more than 1 Crusader adjacent to them, all DPS is zero.
    Reach area 450.

  • A Pox on Commercialism | Only Valentine's hating Crusaders are available. Check the in-game Restrictions for the list of the available Crusaders.
    Reach area 475.

  • 'Match' Maker | A fiery spirit occupies a spot in the formation. It deals damage over time to the highest and lowest DPS Crusaders in the formation, if there are two or more Crusaders in formation.
    Reach area 500.

  • Valentine's Day | A bitter heart occupies a spot in formation and disables Crusaders if you hurt its feelings.
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

COTLI: New High Tier Objectives!

Today we're introducing 14 new objectives to the game for you to enjoy! Plus we've made some long awaited changes to one objective in particular, and revamped The Washed Up Hermit to go along with it.

We've updated World's Wake with the Tier 4 11th objective, and the five Tier 5 objectives. We've also added the Tier 4 11th objective for Descent Into Darkness and the seven Tier 5 objectives, plus we've finally changed up Get Me Out of Here so it's easier to get to the content it guards.

New World's Wake Objectives

New Tier 4 11th objective - Washed Up - The Washed Up Hermit occupies a slot in your formation and is the only one who can do DPS. Beat area 1000 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards the new maximum number cap being 1e700. This means with maxed Arithmagician, your maximum number cap will be 1e900.

New Tier 5 objectives

  • Run Away - Beat area 400 with a back column full of rabbits, and increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 250 rubies.

  • Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch - Protect the Hand Grenade to area 450 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 300 rubies.

  • Inflation - It's your toughest challenge yet: not just leveling up Nate Dragon any longer, but instead doing your best to get the entire formation to level 1000 in order to complete the objective. Awards 350 rubies.

  • Your Mother's A Hamster - The Trojan Rabbit needs your escort skills again, as chickens and cows rain from the sky. Beat area 450 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 350 rubies.

  • Top Tier - Beat area 450 with just half your Crusaders available and increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 350 rubies.

New Descent Into Darkness Objectives

Tier 4 11th objective - Inner Darkness - A seer occupies a slot in the formation and moves every 100 areas. She reveals the dark side of Crusaders adjacent to her, though The Shadow Queen is immune to this effect. If any Crusader dies, the formation wipes and goes back an area. Beat area 1200 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards Bonus Boss Idol drops on the weekly Challenge objectives.

New Tier 5 objectives

  • Grond! Grond! Grond! - Escort the vicious battering ram and beat area 450 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 300 rubies.

  • Get Me Out of Here! - Beat area 450 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 300 rubies.

  • Lone Descent - It's a solo walk for a Crusader to beat area 500 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 350 rubies.

  • Double Trouble - Beat area 500 with increased difficulty scaling, as the hoards of monsters and quest items rush at you. Awards 400 rubies.

  • Dual Descent - Pair up your favourite Angels or Demons as two of them take a stroll to beat area 550 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 400 rubies.

  • Demolition Derby - Escort the explosive demolition experts to area 500 with increased area difficulty scaling. Awards 350 rubies.

  • Slow Descent - Try beating area 250 this time. Awards 400 rubies.

Changes to Get Me Out of Here

This update brings changes to Get Me Out of Here, specifically in that it is no longer a timed objective. As we continue to add content to the game, including the higher tier objectives, we feel that while the old version of Get Me Out of Here was a unique piece in the game, at the higher levels of difficulty it would be a blocker to all the new content.

Get Me Out of Here is now set up in the following manner:

  • Tier 1 - Monsters can't be damaged by DPS as you try to beat area 150. Awards 200 rubies.

  • Tier 2 - An escort takes up the middle slot in the formation. If it dies, the formation wipes backwards an area. Beat area 350. Awards 250 rubies.

  • Tier 3 - Escape is even further away as you need to beat area 550. Awards 300 rubies.

  • Tier 4 - You need to beat area 750 without the help of your Legendary effects. Awards 300 rubies.

But how do new players complete Get Me Out of Here if there's no projectile Crusader in the original 20 Crusaders? That leads on to the next section.

Changes to The Washed Up Hermit

We are fans of The Washed Up Hermit's old mechanic of not having a Crusader directly in front of him, but if he wasn't in the front of your formation, it meant leaving an empty spot in your formation to get the power out of him, and most of the time, having another Crusader with Group DPS upgrades was more important than his boost.

So we've changed up his Craziness ability to require 2 or less adjacent Crusaders to the Hermit to get the boost out of it. Plus, since he is a bit crazy and he had the Arrow Attack ability sitting right there, we've changed it so that he's now a projectile firing Crusader. That way, he can help new players tackle the improved Get Me Out of Here, and for other objectives that would require a projectile Crusader before they've had a chance to recruit one from an event or the mission system.

But wait, wasn't his Arrow Attack a boost for The Bush Whacker? Don't worry! The Washed Up Hermit still boosts The Bush Whacker. We've moved the Swordplay boost to the Hermit's Dark War Stories upgrade. to accommodate the loss of that Self DPS upgrade, we boosted his remaining Self DPS upgrades. Now the Hermit is ready to help you out in your formations with his brand of crazy!

We hope you enjoy this update!

COTLI: The Nate Before Christmas 5!

O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree -- how angry are thy branches...!
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree -- how much you embody the rage of nature and bring the wrath of the elements down upon us all!

Once again The Nate Before Christmas blesses our doors, and this year we are visited by the rage of nature: Kris, the Enraged Elemental!

But that's not all: the Fresh Air that Kris brings increases Global DPS for each Flora Crusader in the formation, including Kris, and they are able to increase the maximum health of Crusaders with Forest Furor. Take Root prevents your DPS and Click Damage from dropping, while Winter Vigil can revive your formation once per area to save the day!

New Tier 5 Objectives

    Reach area 400.

  • Home Alone | You can only use one Crusader in the formation.

COTLI: Holiday Grab Bag Update, Dec 2019

Come one, come all and gather round to hear some highlights of what this latest update for Crusaders brings!

Saved Formation Changes

You asked, we've answered! We've made some improvements to the Saved Formations system.

  • More Saved Formations - Now you can have up to 5 saved formations on every campaign!

  • Challenge Saved Formations - Now each Challenge has its own set of saved formations, so you won't have to worry about affecting your normal formation for each campaign!

  • Saved Formations on Tricky Objectives - Now you can save formations on objectives with alterations to the normal formations, to help you clear the objective. These saved formations will be cleared on changing objectives.

  • Guidebook Page - We've added a Saved Formations entry to the in-game Guidebook, so you can access information about how they work at any time.

Talent Changes

We've made the following changes to the Talents mentioned below, plus topped everyone back up to 3 respecs!

  • Sprint - We've extended the timer on boss areas to 10 seconds, and clarified how the Talent works on the Talent dialog.

  • 10K Training - We've reduced the cost of the Talent to be more manageable.

  • Montage Training - We've also reduced the cost of this Talent to be more manageable as well.

  • Phase Skip - In this new version of the Talent, each level increases the chance that you will skip an area entirely and it works on any objective.

  • Idolatry - We've increased the bonus each level of the talent gives you.

Improvements to Nargulg Granitehand

With this update, we took the time to revisit Nargulg's design, so he's a more competitive clicker.
  • Trickses - The old version increased Nargulg's personal click damage by 400%.

The new version increases your click damage by 10% of your DPS.

  • Fellowses - The old version increased Nargulg's personal click damage for each Orc and Dwarf crusader in formation, multiplicatively.

The new version increases the DPS of all Crusaders for each Orc or Dwarf in formation.

  • Yes, I Cheatses - Still increases Nargulg's personal click damage for every 25 levels.

  • Boo Magicses - The old version increased Nargulg's personal click damage by 50% for every Animal Crusader in formation, and decreased it for every Magical Crusader in formation.

The new version increases the effect of Trickses by 10% for each non-magical Crusader in formation.

  • Smashdown! - Previously named All the Yardses, the old version increased Nargulg's personal click damage for every 50 areas unlocked.

The new Smashdown upgrade increases your Critical Chance by 100% on monsters with less than 20% health.

We also changed Nargulg's gear, to match his new kit.
  • The Kilts - Previously it had the legendary effect of increasing the DPS of Crusaders adjacent to Nargulg.

It now increases the DPS of Crusaders who are adjacent to at least one Orc or Dwarf.

  • The Clubs - They previously increased the personal click damage of Nargulg and had a legendary effect of increasing Naruglg's old All the Yardses upgrade.

They now increase the effect of Nargulg's Club Smashes upgrade and have a legendary effect of increasing your global click damage.

  • The Shields - They previously increased your global DPS and had a legendary effect of increasing your global DPS per Dwarf or Orc in the formation.

They now buff Nargulg's Smashdown upgrade and have a legendary effect of increasing your critical click damage multiplier.

COTLI: Kaine's Dinner of Doom 5!

    Seasons leaves, wilting and falling,
now's the time: Momma Kaine's calling!
Cold, gray, dark, wet, and gloom,
The perfect time, for dinner of doom!

Kaine's Dinner of Doom 5 runs until Tuesday, December 3rd at 12PM PST, introducing Gemthel, the Gourmet and bringing back RoboTurkey, Momma Kaine, Paul the Pilgrim, Petra the Pilgrim, Chef Casey, and 43G1S!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Gemthel, the Gourmet

Gemthel, the Gourmet brings additional support and healing to Slot 13. She uses Rock Sirloin to boost Global DPS, she shields Crusaders with Well Fed, and her Norog Spice adds increased potency to the formation, increasing the chance that Crusaders' chance-based abilities activate by 5%.

As you level Gemthel, you unlock additional Global DPS with Pheasant Under Glass, a 4x increase in DPS for every 25 levels over 200 with Refined Tastes, and projectile attacks to Crusaders in her column with Food Fight!.

Make no mistake, this Royal Dwarven Lady is here to liven up your Dinner of Doom!

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Gemthel | Gemthel, the Gourmet takes up a slot in the formation. New steak and veggie escorts also take up slots in formation, and rotate around the formation every 25 areas. While they are adjacent to Gemthel, Gemthel provides a DPS buff; Otherwise Gemthel is hungry and debuffs the Crusaders. Legendary Effects are disabled on this objective.
    Reach area 400.

  • Grumpy Old Men | No DPS-tagged Crusaders can be used. Three grumpy escorts occupy slots in the formation, each with a preferred tag. Crusaders with a matching tag need to be adjacent to them in order to do DPS.
    Reach area 450.

  • Sweet November | A new formation should make this more of a challenge!
    Reach area 475.

  • Grindhouse | All quest areas get changed to kill 40 monsters. Monsters spawn in waves of 10, and have resistance to CLK and DPS. Invulnerable ranged enemies spawn at random.
    Reach area 500.

  • Countdown to Christmas | A sneak peak of the new Christmas Crusader occupies a slot in formation. Christmas tree monsters spawn at random, which shield other monsters and can only be damaged by projectiles. The Christmas Crusader has a special projectile attack which, if it hits a monster, prevents that monster from counting for quest progress.
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Thanksgiving Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop All Tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crusaders will only appear in All Tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop when you go to purchase chests with real money or event currency.
