Idle Champions: Seasons

There are many reasons our players enjoy Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms: the challenge of formation strategy, the joy of playing with familiar Champions, an appreciation for the D&D story and lore...and of course, cool rewards! So we're excited to introduce Seasons as another way to have fun and get awesome rewards in the process!

What are Seasons?

Seasons are multi-month events that run roughly 10 weeks. During a Season, you can complete daily, weekly, and Season-long quests, increase your Season level, and purchase Season Rewards from the Season Shop. Seasons have a wide variety of rewards for players of all levels, including exclusive skins, feats, and even modron cores!

Each season focuses on a group of five existing Champions. The chosen Champions receive balance changes at the start of the Season, and the rewards for the season are focused on those five Champions.

What can I earn during Seasons?

Season rewards include basic items like potions, chests, and contracts, but also include unique items such as skins, feats, and even a modron core. There are also exclusive, one-time item level boosts for the Season Champions, meaning those Season Champions will come out of the Season with a significant amount of power!

There is also a Season-long Buff that gets more powerful as you level up your Season level or buy rewards, and focuses on buffing the season Champions. If a Season has a modron core as a reward, the core's outputs will usually mimic some of the Champion-specific power gained from the Season Buff. At the end of the Season, you can convert your Season favor into favor for ALL of your permanent campaigns deities!

Do I need to buy a Season Pass to participate?

A Season pass is not necessary to participate in the Season system, though many of the more exclusive rewards require it. You can complete Season quests, claim many rewards, and convert your Season favor when the Season ends all without a Season pass.

What are Season Quests?

Season Quests are like patron challenges. They come in three varieties: Daily Quests, Seasonal Quests, and Milestone Quests. All Season Quests reward Season XP, Season Favor, and Season Currency when completed.
  • Three new Daily Quests are made available every day. These are simple quests that can be completed quickly and easily. If you get a Daily Quests you don't want, you can optionally replace it with another. You can only do this once per day for each Daily Quest slot.
  • Seven Seasonal Quests are released each week. You have until the end of the Season to complete these quests, though only ten of them can be active at a time. These are generally more challenging quests that will require a bit more time or imagination to complete, so don't delay!
  • Ten Milestone Quests are available from the very beginning of the season, each having ten tiers. Completing one tier of a Milestone Quest will unlock the next tier of that Milestone Quest. These are challenging, long-term Quests which will require significant investment to complete all ten tiers.

What is Season XP?

Season XP is earned by completing Season Quests and used to increase your Season Level. When you level up, you unlock an additional effect for your Season Buff and may unlock new reward tiers.

What is Season Favor?

Season Favor is earned by completing Season Quests. When a Season ends, you will convert your Season Favor into favor for all of your unlocked permanent campaigns. The more you have, the bigger your boost will be!

What is Season Currency?

Season Currency is earned by completing Season Quests and used to purchase Season Rewards from the Season Rewards Shop.

How do I unlock new reward tiers?

New Reward Tiers are unlocked in the Season Rewards Shop by leveling up your Season Level. You can do this simply by completing Season Quests!

What happens when a Season ends?

When a Season ends, all incomplete Season Quests are abandoned. Any unpurchased rewards are forfeited and your Season Favor can be converted into favor for all of your unlocked permanent campaign deities. Unpurchased premium items will be added to the wild offer pool at some point in the future.

Will there be more Seasons in the future?

Our current plan is to run four Seasons per year, using them as an opportunity to highlight and potentially majorly rework up to twenty Champions per year.

Season One Begins September 14th, 2022 at 12pm Pacific!
Champions: The Heroes of Aerois: Aila, Qillek, Sentry, Nova, and Lucius

All five Aerois affiliated Champions have received balance changes, with the most significant going to Nova and Lucius. The main thrust of the design changes was to make the Aerois Champions work well together, with their high-level focus being on slowing, stunning, and rooting enemies. When this occurs, they get more powerful.

Additionally, Time Gate costs for the Heroes of Aerois will be cut in half during Season 1! So until the end of Season 1, all Time Gates for Aila, Qillek, Sentry, Nova, and Lucius will cost 3 pieces instead of the usual 6!

Aila

Aila's Aerois Synergy ability has changed to add stack each time an Electrified enemy is attacked, so that it can stack up even when a single enemy remains on screen. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks affects the damage done to electrified enemies. Both Shielding Storm and Aila's ultimate, Storm Herald, were adjusted to scale based on Aerois Synergy stacks. Storm Soul's damage bonus is now increased more by Electrified boss enemies. Finally, Aila's fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

Qillek

Qillek's Aerois Synergy ability has been changed to stack up the longer you're in an area, rather than being a complicated algorithm based on effective healing that only stacks high with certain enemy attacks. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks continues to affect Bless. Aside from that, a new ability, Slow Sanctions, has been added to increase gold drops from stunned, slowed, or rooted enemies. His existing specializations were tweaked and a new one was added to support his new gold find ability. Finally, Qillek's fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

Sentry

Sentry's Aerois Synergy ability has been changed to stack each time an enemy spawns and each second a boss is alive. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks continues to affect Guardian of Solwynn. Speaking of Guardian of Solwynn, this ability no longer requires Sentry to be in the front-most column to have an effect -- instead a new specialization choice increases its effectiveness in exchange for adding this existing restriction back on. This new specialization replaces Sentry's old Echo's Will specialization, which increased the effectiveness of Sentry's speed ability Echo Resolution. But don't worry, that effectiveness increase is now available all the time via a new Feat. Finally, as with the previous Champions, Sentry's fifth equipment slot now increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

Nova

Nova has been completely reworked from the ground up. Curiosity has been replaced by a new ability with the same name that increases the damage enemies take the longer they are alive. Discovery has been replaced by a new ability called The Crew which increases the damage of Champions near Nova based on the sum of those Champions' levels, stacking multiplicatively. Nova's Close Encounters ability has been removed. Failsafe has been changed so that the damage shield also applies to other Champions in Nova's column and now includes a big damage buff while the shields remain. It also scales with Nova's HP rather than a fixed amount. Nova's Aerois Synergy now stacks whenever an enemy is stunned, slowed, or rooted. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks increases the effect of The Crew. Slow and Protective Field remain the two only unchanged abilities. Nova's specializations have been adjusted to support her new abilities. Her ultimate, Active Tiangong, now scales with Aerois Synergy stacks, and finally, her fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

Lucius

Lucius has also seen significant changes that realign him as a main DPS rather than a quasi-support. Rather than a DoT, Arcane Chromat - Acid now increases Lucius' acid damage during subsequent attacks against the same enemies, stacking multiplicatively. Arcane Chromat - Cold now does massive damage to enemies that are slowed, stunned, or rooted (especially ones with multiple slows, stuns, or effects on them). Elemental Adept now scales its damage based off of Aerois Synergy stacks. Lucius' Aerois Synergy continues to stack when Elemental Adept triggers, but has been tweaked to be more similar to the other Aerois Champions' new Aerois Synergy abilities. It also now applies to all of Lucius' damage, instead of just his Acid damage. Lucius' specializations have all been reworked to support his adjusted abilities, and as expected, his fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

Conclusion

In addition to the ability changes, all five Aerois Champions received a full second look at their upgrades, resulting in higher base multipliers for many of them.

Taken together, the Aerois team now focuses on slowing, stunning, and otherwise delaying enemies from reaching the front lines, while simultaneously having a beefy front line that can hold back enemies long enough for Lucius to shred them to pieces, especially when combined with the team's stuns, slows, and roots. Aerois works well with other Champions that stun, slow, or root with their base attacks, such as Wulfgar or Penelope. We hope these changes, along with the excitement of the new season, will help you have a lot of fun playing with the full Aerois team!

Idle Champions: Weekly Party

The weekend buffs have been an excellent opportunity to take advantage of more powerful Champions and push through a tough variant or patron challenge. So we thought it would be fun to offer some more opportunities for Champions to get buff. So this week we're introducing a new weekly feature to Idle Champions: The Weekly Party!

The Weekly Party feature runs from Noon Pacific on Monday to Noon Pacific Friday every week and functions similarly to weekend buffs, but with some important differences and improvements.

Notably, the Weekly Party highlights just three Champions instead of five. One of the three Champions will be the same for all players each week (this first week is Widdle starting Sept 12!), while the other two will be randomly selected based on each individual player's Champion usage from the past several weeks. In this way, the Weekly Party will almost always include powerful Champions that you are actively using in your formations. All three Champions receive buffs to their abilities for the duration of the Weekly Party.

In the shop, rather than having unique chests that contain gear for all three Champions, special chest packs are available while the weekly party is running that contains individual chests for each Champion. Some of these packs award more overall chests than normal for the price point, resulting in a quasi "bonus chests sale" for the chosen Champion chests each week. Additionally, the bonus Golden Epic equipment awarded for your first purchase is randomly selected from the pool of GEs available for the three Champions, increasing your odds of seeing a GE that you can immediately use. Finally, pack purchases during the Weekly Party will increase your Weekly Party buffs, making the chosen Champions even more potent.

Please note that the release of the Weekly Party system will be delayed on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. We plan to roll Weekly Party out on those platforms in the coming weeks!

We hope you enjoy this new feature and can make use of the buffs to push through a tough variant or patron challenge. Idle Champions: June 1st 2022 Update

We've rolled out some big updates and changes recently, including several that have gone live today. So we thought it was a good idea to go into detail about the balancing, redistribution, dismantling, and more!

Spring Balance Update

Dungeons & Dragons Spring Balance Update

We are in the final week of our six-week Spring Balance Update, where we have been making adjustments to Champions that didn't require a major rework. The final updates have been made, and you can read about all of the details in the in-game changelog or our blog post.

Soft Cap Increase

It's time to level up! Your adventures in Faerun have continued to take some twists and turns, heading into the Feywild realm of Prismeer and facing down the most dangerous of the Demon Lords in today's update. This week's update for Idle Champions brings with it increases to the upgrade cap for all 101 Champions! This newfound strength will help your formations to push further than ever before. Good luck!

Item Level Cap Redistribution

Players have equipment that is leveled over its item level cap, but those extra levels are not providing any benefit. Today's update fixes this issue! A check will be done every time the game loads, a new adventure is started, or you switch parties. The sum of all levels over the cap will be calculated, the items will be reduced to the level cap, and the game will refund the excess levels in the form of Blacksmithing Contracts. Now if you have (or obtain) an item over its cap, you'll be able to use additional levels elsewhere!

Briv Steelmarrow Update

Briv's mechanics allow him to bypass important content that we've intended players to encounter. Challenging bosses are a big part of some adventures, variants, and patron variants' difficulty, and completely skipping these reduces the adventures' challenge to an unintended degree. We've made some changes to the way his skipping works, both to avoid bypassing that content and also improve his skipping in offline progress and background parties.
  • Briv can no longer skip bosses in base adventures, variants, patron variants, Time Gates, and special adventures such as split the party or the Trials of Mount Tiamat. He can still skip bosses in free play, including Time Gate free play. If Briv was going to skip a boss area, he instead skips TO the boss area. Once that boss is defeated, he then skips to the area that would have been skipped to.
  • A new feat has been added that limits Briv to skipping at most 4 areas. It has no effect if Briv is not capable of skipping at least 4 100% of the time.

Hew Maan Update

Hew Maan's quest-progression-increasing mechanic is in need of a balance. This is ironic given the name of the upgrade that buffs it is Perfectly Balanced. It is much easier to gain massive speed increases with Hew Maan compared with essentially every other speed Champion, putting them in a class of their own in the speed Champion rankings. We are not completely against being able to beat an area in only a few kills, but this power should not be easily obtainable with a single Champion.
  • We have reduced the base effect of Zrang's Teamwork from 25% to 20%.
  • We have reduced the base effect of Carefully Balanced from 10% per Champion to 5% per Champion.
  • We have capped Hew Maan's slot 4 item at 2501 item levels for non-gilded items, 1615 for shiny, and 1172 for golden. Players with more than the maximum number of item levels will have their excess item levels refunded as blacksmithing contracts.

Dismantle Champion System

Dungeons & Dragons Dismantle Champion System Due to the changes listed above to Briv and Hew Maan, the Dismantle Champions system will be available for Asharra, Briv, and Hew Maan for the next 3 weeks. As noted below, we will also have a Legendary Dismantle event for all Champions during that same time frame.

As many of you know, we've been working on the Dismantle Champion System for a few weeks now (following the recent updates to Asharra). Since then we've been listening to player feedback and making some adjustments, and the system is now ready to be released!

After a specific Champion has had a significant balance change, and we choose to allow it to be dismantled, the Dismantle Champion System will become available for that Champion for 3 weeks. You can only dismantle a Champion once during this time period, and only the Champion(s) we have selected (The current list includes Asharra, Briv, and Hew Maan). You will find the button to start the process in the Champion's character sheet, near their portrait.

Dismantling a Champion has the following effects:
  • All equipment item levels are set to level 1.
    • Equipment item levels are returned in the form of Blacksmithing Contracts with a total value equal to the item levels removed.
    • Capped iLevels - The number of item levels you can dismantle is capped at 10K per slot. Any additional item levels will remain on the dismantled champion.
  • Collected equipment is retained, and your max rarity of each equipment slot is retained. If you're fully epic, you'll remain fully epic, just at a reduced item level.
  • Golden items are reverted to the non-golden version of themselves.
    • An Epic Golden Potion is awarded for each.
  • Shiny items are reverted to the non-shiny version of themselves.
    • A Potion of Polish is awarded for each.
  • Legendary items are reverted to epic rarity.
    • A Legendary Potion - Level # is awarded for each.
  • Feats that can be purchased for gems are removed.
    • Gems equivalent to the total purchase price are awarded.
    • Refunded feats will be available to purchase again for gems.
When we trigger a Champion Dismantle for a specific Champion, we will also trigger a Legendary Dismantle Event for all Champions. This is based on player feedback, and will allow players to adjust their legendary investment in Support Champions that were used in conjunction with the nerfed Champion.

New and Updated Items

In order to make these changes outlined above easy for players to work with, we have made some updates to existing items as well as added new types of items!
  • Potion of Polish (Updated): Potions of Polish have been upgraded to be targetable. This means that players can choose both the Champion and the equipment slot to use this potion on. All existing Potions of Polish will gain this ability.

  • Epic Golden Potion: The Epic Golden Potion turns the item of a player's choice into a golden item, provided we have released that item as a GE previously. Players can choose both the Champion and the equipment slot to use this potion on. If the item is not already epic, this potion makes it epic as well.

  • Legendary Potion - Level #: Legendary Potions can be used on an epic or legendary piece of equipment. It will make that equipment a legendary item, and add the levels listed on the potion. A Legendary Potion can not be used on an item that is already of an equal or higher legendary level. Players can choose both the Champion and the equipment slot to use this potion on. It functions as if the player crafted and/or leveled up the item to the target level, without paying any associated costs.

  • Legendary Blacksmithing Contract: This new blacksmithing contract grants more levels (120) than was available with the existing blacksmithing contracts (1, 2, 6, or 24).

Every day during the Year's End Festival you can log in and open a new Celebration chest, but each chest is only available for 24 hours! Each chest contains 5 awesome items, hand-picked by the team here at Codename Entertainment to help you in your adventures. If you get goodies in those chests for content you have not yet unlocked, then your account will retain those items and save them for you to enjoy when you have unlocked those systems in the game!

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, Part 10

This week's content update brings the exciting conclusion of the Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden! With concluding the campaign, we're also bringing Tier 4 & 5 Icewind Dale Blessings to the game.

Additionally, Icewind Dale, Part 10 brings our latest Evergreen Champion, Xerophon. Xerophon can be unlocked by completing A Lesson in Classes the second variant for The Fall of Ythryn adventure.



New Evergreen Champion: Xerophon

Xerophon is a Support Champion who uses their excellent imitation skills to provide valuable information to the rest of the formation. When you want to add Xerophon to your formation you can swap them out with Minsc (Slot 7).

Thank you for joining us for Idle Champions Presents: The Trials of Mount Tiamat. Dungeon Master B Dave Walters (Black Dice Society, A Darkened Wish, Into the Mother Lands) took our three brave parties of Champions through a harrowing campaign across seven episodes, leading them into a direct confrontation against Tiamat with the fate of the Forgotten Realms hanging in the balance.

We had an exciting seven weeks filled with voting and rewards! As a reminder, all in-game rewards must be claimed before the start of our Year's End Festival, so claim your voting rewards before 12 PM Pacific on Wednesday, December 1st!

As part of voting and with a little Champion rebalancing we had four new feats for our Champions become available - the winners of the votes were unlocked in-game with the conclusion of their votes, but all four will be available for 12,500 gems as of 12 PM Pacific on Wednesday, December 1st.

November 30th Update: Party 3 Champion Rebalance

These changes will be live in-game as of 12 PM Pacific, on Tuesday, November 30th.

Strix will receive the following changes:
  • Additional self DPS buffs at level 160 and 1090
  • Reduction in attack cooldown from 6.5s to 5s

Evelyn Marthain will receive the following changes:
  • Increase base health and health upgrades by 20%
  • Increase Steadfast Might base buff to 100% per enemy (from 25% per enemy)
  • Increase Divine Prayer base effect by 100% (to 200%)

Vlahnya Um'vairar will receive the following changes:
  • Breaking Out Solo - if Vlahnya is in a column by herself or with only one other Champion, her Enthralling Performance effect is increased by 200%.

Vote for the Show You Want to See

Just like with our first Idle Champions Presents, Idle Champions players will be able to influence the characters and events of upcoming Idle Champions Presents episodes through in-game daily votes. Starting on Tuesday, October 12 with the in-game daily reset (12PM PT), each vote will go live for 24 hours, with the final vote for the week ending on Monday at 12PM PT.

Daily votes will have both an In-Game Effect and a Livestream Effect. For example, if players vote for one of two Champions to be granted a boon for the next episode of Idle Champions Presents, that Champion would be granted a corresponding boon in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms! We don't want to spoil everything that players will be able to vote for, but here's an idea of what a few of the daily votes might look like:

  • Dice Roll! — Which Champion gains an guaranteed 'critical' roll?
    • Players will get to roll an Idle Champions D6 to collect a number of Electrum Chests and if they roll a 6, they can collect this paragon of honor and justice as a free familiar!
    • Baby Bahamut Familiar
  • Lucky Choice — Which Champion should gains a luck die?
  • Surprise Find — Which Champion should find some additional gear?
  • Wild Card! — Do the Champions meet goblins or kobolds? Who explores the darkness? What fun affliction affects the chosen Champion?
But wait, there's more: there are Weekly Challenges each week that will vary between easy, medium, and difficult challenges to earn additional votes for daily votes. You can save these votes up for as long as you wish, using them all on the final vote in Week 7 if you wish. The choice is up to you!

The first vote begins on Tuesday, October 12 at 12PM PT in-game. You'll want to check in every day if you want the most chances to influence Idle Champions Presents!


Party 1 Champion Rebalance

In order to account for the way the current meta would impact voting, we’ve made some adjustments to certain Champions.

Selise Astorio will receive the following changes:
  • Increase to the duration of her Wall Stance damage reduction buff to 10 seconds
  • Increase the base effect value of Vow of Vengeance from 100% to 200%
  • Update to happen in version 406+ : Last Resort stance also increases the effect of Vow of Vengeance by 200%

Havilar will receive the following changes:
  • We've added a new ability - Sister Sister (Havilar)
    • Increase the effect of Leadership Summit by 200% when Farideh is in the formation.
Farideh will follow her sister with a matching ability:
  • We've added a new ability - Sister Sister (Farideh)
    • Increase the effect of Pact Family by 500% when Havilar is in the formation.

November 2nd Update: Party 2 Champion Rebalance

Penelope Half Pint will receive the following changes:
  • Minor Eruption's AOE applies the Have You Met My Friends debuff to all affected enemies
  • Max Story Time stacks increased to 40, up from 25
  • Increase base effect of Have You Met My Friends from 300% to 500%
  • Increase Tools For the Job Charm gold bonus to 15% of total buff, up from 10%

Shaka will receive the following changes:
  • Increase base effect of A Celestial Puzzle from 100% to 150%

What do I need to know?

Idle Champions Presents: The Trials of Mount Tiamat begins on Monday, October 18th with the first episode broadcasting from 4PM until 7PM Pacific Time on Twitch.tv/CNEGames. Daily votes for the first episode will begin the week before, starting on Tuesday, October 12th at 12PM Pacific.

Episode 1

Disembarking from their Drow submarine ride are Freely, Orisha, Baeloth, and Havilar. They’ve arrived in the village of Hornfirth during the colorful Festival of Fools, and Orisha is once again overcome with a cryptic vision and warning that she imparts to the group. Revelry with the party and the bar patrons ensues.

A sudden ruckus nearby, including the sounds of Freely calling out in distress, cause the group to dash outside. In a nearby alley, they find the halfling protecting a red panda from a pack of wild dogs. No one wants to hurt the dogs, and between some illusions, fire, and snacks they are able to convince the dogs to run away. Freely is happy to see his old friends, and introduces the red panda as Cinnamon.

Another cry of terror rings out, and running back out of the alley the heroes find a tipsy conjurer using a spell scroll to summon fiends! Spined devils, quasits, and a nightmare appear as well as a drunken group of angry party goers who want to join the fight. Our heroes are quick to dispatch the spined devils and quasits, convince the intoxicated revelers to stand down, and persuade the nightmare to a truce. The fake Halister Blackcloak is killed, and several scrolls are found on his body. Briv makes a connection with the nightmare, who agrees to come four times when he calls, before disappearing.

Episode 2

Just as one problem is solved another commotion starts up from Heiley, a distraught festival reveler crying for help. Her husband Beirn and his friends have gone into the mountains to play a prank on the frost giant Wrerdor and his ogre servants. Normally the frost giant is a good neighbor, but the townsfolk are terrified that Wrerdor will be infuriated and attack the village. Iris the friendly beholder shows up to offer some advice on the situation and agrees to help with any plans the heroes come up with, as well as offer a new title for both Alyndra and Briv.

The group head up the mountain to try and find the pranksters before they can strike. Their way is blocked and their trip is hampered by a Sneeze Breeze trap and then a pack of angry owlbears. The creatures are quickly killed, but Orisha’s deva rewinds time to save the owlbear’s life. After casting speak with animals they discover she’s just protecting her cubs hiding in a nearby tree, so Briv casts revivify to bring the other back to life. Continuing up the mountainside, they are distracted by the sight of a flaming mountain with a massive creature flying over it that brings Havilar infernal vibes. But it’s too far away to do much about.

Eventually, they find a tunnel entrance with a sign indicating it leads to Wrerdor, and running out of the cave is a screaming woman - a member of Beirn’s crew. She relays the group put itching powder in Wrerdor’s underclothing, but the giant did not appreciate the prank and attacked. After a stern talking about the stupidity of their actions, she is sent out into the cold to head back to town while the group head into the caves to try and rescue the other eight townsfolk. After getting lost for a while they finally find the cavern with ice mephits tormenting the captured townsfolk. They defeat the creatures and free the prisoners but are informed that Wrerdor and his ogres are heading for the town to extract revenge!

Episode 3

Beirn informs everyone that he knows a quick way to get back to town, so after a few healing words they rush off. He leads them to a log flume that can be used to get down the mountain quickly as long as they can put together a raft. Havilar’s strength and Briv’s liquid metal are put to good use in crafting the raft, Alyndra oversees the building, and Baeloth and Orisha terrify and inspire the townsfolk to help. The heroes jump on the raft and head down the flume, narrowly avoiding several potential disasters including an otter dam they manage to dodge while saving the otters. With a frantic leap, they manage to exit the raft just before hitting the lake, taking a variety of cuts and scrapes but no major injuries. While the trip was dangerous, it did manage to get them in front of Wrerdor!

Bubbles the Hollyphant appears and offers to help them scare off the giant, transforming them all into were-red pandas before disappearing again. The group prepares to try and stop Wrerdor and his three ogres, putting up a wall of fire and preparing a massive pond full of bubbles. The ogres charge into battle, but some persuasive words from Havilar and Orisha, a joke from Briv, and a command to parlay from Alyndra convinces Wrerdor to talk first. The giant admits that he’s not mad, he’s just upset he was left out of the festivities. After some discussion and calming down, Wrerdor is convinced to throw his own party! They’re going to have a foam party, with drinks and snacks, and Baeloth agrees to sing for entertainment. Orisha coordinates the decorations, Briv takes over food prep, Alyndra leads some on some calming meditation, and Freely gathers up the townsfolk to join the festivities.

The party is a success! The Festival of Fools is finished with a fantastic festival of foam!

Episode 1

In the seaside port town of Echo Bay, five epic heroes arrive with invitations to a party. Orisha, Havilar, Baeloth, Melf, and the Black Viper have traveled to enjoy the Fleetswake festivities with their friend Freely. However, the party is put on hold as Freely has agreed to help a local merchant whose ship, the Muskrat, has gone missing. A local fisher confirms the ship was seen five days ago heading for the docks, but never arrived. Despite the festival, the locals are nervous and are avoiding the water.

Before they can do any more a loud bell rings out, and the whole town heads to one of the main events of the festival, a crab battle between Pumpkinhead versus Walnut! Orisha’s eyes suddenly glow and a strange voice emanates from her throat as an announcement is made that something has gone wrong. But the voice tells the heroes if they will fix what is wrong they will “forget their names”. Just as quickly as the voice came it is gone, as is their memories of it.

Suddenly a swarm of demonic geese attack the crowd, but before they can harm any innocents the heroes dispatch them with relative ease. These creatures were not actually from the abyss but had been poisoned and transformed. Asking around the town to find out more about these strange developments, our Champions discover a number of disturbing incidents over the past two months have many people on edge; fishing boats have been attacked by sharks, and many capable swimmers and dock workers have been injured or nearly drowned. Many are suspicious of the new mage high priest to Umberlee named Mistress Hoistsail. After Orisha crafts and sings a song to Umberlee to magically open the door to the one-room shrine, they head inside to question a group of worshippers, but the leader of the cultists transforms into a wereshark and attacks! While it gets a bite out of Baeloth, it’s shocked and stabbed to death!

Episode 2

As the fight with the cultists comes to a close a chaotic attack from Baeloth destroys the altar, and our Champions notice it was funneling magic from somewhere else in the caves. As they loot the bodies they find a journal and a magic key on the late cultist turned wereshark, learning these are fanatics who have come to Echo Bay to serve the will of Mistress Hoistsail. Heading back outside they discover both Freely and Havilar’s hound Zoonie are missing, but Bubbles the Hollyphant and Freely’s parrot TreAvor are there. Bubbles offers to help the group, first healing Baeloth and Black Viper and then giving Havilar the ability to speak to animals. TreAvor relays that eight pirates kidnapped Freely as he defended Zoonie and told her to run. Havilar summons her Imps and sends them off to look for Zoonie, and inspired by the idea Baeloth summons his Djinn servant Najim to create pirate outfits for the entire party.

Back in town, the party matches the key they looted to a warehouse marked by the same flying frog symbol. It’s been empty since its owner, Galid Tanter, drowned two months ago. Her death was the first of the strange incidents that have the townsfolk on edge. As they take a moment to catch up with Iris, Melf hears a whispered voice from the shadows trying to warn him of danger, but the voice is gone before he can make out the whole message. They find the warehouse on the edge of town, and while it’s supposed to be abandoned Black Viper notices that the lock has been recently oiled, indicating there’s been recent activity. Inside is mostly empty but a suspicious tapestry hides a secret passage to a back area with a massive chest, and Melf notices a magical aura coming from it. Stacks of bloodstained paperwork nearby are ships manifest including one for The Muskrat, and all the vessels were carrying spell components for very heavy conjuration magic.

Opening the chest they discover a pair of disgusting gibbering mouthers! Their horrific noises and gnashing teeth stun and disorient the heroes, and one almost manages to eat Melf! But eventually, they destroy the creatures and discover a practically brand new ladder leading deep into darkness. But having taken a lot of damage and being exhausted from the day, Havilar leaves one of her imps to guard the ladder and the group takes a well-deserved long rest.

Episode 3

The next morning while the group discusses how they want to proceed, Orisha is suddenly overtaken with a spirit. The creepy voice of the ethereal being gives much valuable advice, including a warning that time is of the essence but that there is no reasoning with the fanatics. Bubbles the holyphant reappears and promises to help, but instead curses the team to speak only in rhyme! Before the issue can be fixed Bubbles disappears again, leaving the team speaking in verse as they head down into the cave where they hope to find Zoonie, Freely, and answers.

After a perilous slide and past a dual trap, they are greeted by an acquaintance of Baeloth’s who also happens to be a member of the Bregan D’aerthe. Our Champions continue on their path and arrive at a broad sea cave with an ancient dock where wrecks of the missing ships are found. The dock and ships are covered with ghostly forms, and the deck of the ship has strong conjuration magic that is increasing in intensity.

Knowing they are short on time the team rush in. Orisha is snatched on the shore and yanked into the water by a furious sahuagin. As more sahuagin and sharks join the fight, Baeloth summons Najim to rescue Orisha. Not only does the Djinn save the aasimar but he removes the rhyming curse, but now they must speak like pirates! Fortunately, the Bregan D’aerthe shows up and destroys the underwater enemies with torpedoes, but the ghost ship suddenly disembarks and heads for the mouth of the sea cave.

Everyone scrambles onto the ship, and as they get into the hold they can hear chanting coming deep in the ship. A gruesome scene is discovered, and Mistress Hoistsail has Freely and Zoonie in a conjuring circle, in order to call forth a monstrous semi-translucent kraken!

Orisha sets the bodies on fire as Havilar pulls her unconscious friends out of the ritual circle. All of this disrupts the magic, weakening and delaying the full appearance of the kraken. Orisha, Havilar, and Black Viper engage the kraken on the deck while Baeloth attacks Mistress Hoistsail, and Melf casts dispel magic several times to get rid of the magic on the ship. Hoistsail is defeated, and after an epic battle, Baeloth is able to banish the kraken back to its plane. The Bregan D’aerthe show up to rescue the heroes from the sinking ship, and once again the Sword Coast is saved!

We wanted to clear up some Frequently Asked Questions asked in the community, especially around voting. What is Idle Champions Presents?

Idle Champions Presents is a six-week interactive in-game and livestream event that runs from February 16th until March 31st. For these six weeks you'll be able to complete challenges, earn rewards, and vote to influence the events of the live D&D show Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas (Feb 22, Mar 1, and Mar 8) and Idle Champions Presents: A Fool's Errand (Mar 15, Mar 22, and Mar 29). The Idle Champions Presents show airs live each Monday at 4PM Pacific on CNEGames Twitch and you can also watch the video later on our YouTube channel.

Do I have to watch the Twitch Livestream to participate?

All you have to do is play Idle Champions to participate! In addition to helping to craft an unforgettable show, at the completion of each vote, a new in-game reward becomes available. The in-game reward will normally be something related to the vote, so we recommend voting to get the best experience, but we welcome everyone to enjoy the rewards.

Where can I watch Idle Champions Presents episodes?

Idle Champions Presents broadcasts for 6 episodes, starting on Feb 22nd and ending on Mar 29. All episodes start at 4PM Pacific on the CNEGames Twitch. If you miss the livestream you can watch the video on demand on Twitch, or soon after the broadcast on our YouTube channel.

Voting FAQ

How long are votes available?

Normally, votes are available for 24 hours: From 12PM Pacific to 12PM Pacific the following day. At 12PM the vote total will become public, and the reward will become available for all players. On Mondays, our newest episode will air, and we don't want to give away any spoilers for the next episode! There will be no active vote from 12PM Pacific on Mondays until the end of that evening's episode. Once the episode airs, the next vote becomes available, with players who are active in-game at that time getting a first shot at the vote!

Can I vote for both choices?

If you want to, absolutely. You do you.

How many votes can I get each week?

Each day at 12PM Pacific, you'll automatically earn a new vote. Each week, you can earn up to 6 additional votes through challenges. Earned votes (including the free vote available each day at noon), are available for the duration of the Idle Champions Presents event.

What are challenges?

Challenges are in-game tasks that you can complete to earn extra votes. Challenges come in a variety of difficulties; some votes are easier to earn than others. New challenges unlock every week and can be accessed on each week's page. Each challenge is available to complete for six days after it unlocks. After the six days have passed, any unfinished challenges will no longer be completable.

What can I earn from challenges?

Each complete challenge earns an additional vote.

How long do I have to redeem a reward?

Rewards will be available for the duration of the Idle Champions Presents event. The notification will turn off at 12PM Pacific on March 31st, so we suggest collecting all of your rewards before then.

Why can't I see clips on any of the votes?

We can't show you clips of how your vote changed the game until our players get around the virtual table! Every Tuesday, we'll be cutting, taping, and super gluing the episode together to feature short clips that highlight how you and the members of the Idle Champion community changed the game! We hope players will enjoy checking out the previous episode's antics in the lead-up to the next episode!

Do you have to vote to collect a reward?

Not for this event. Rewards for past votes are available to all players, regardless of whether they voted during the active 24 hours. You can collect a day's reward by visiting the voting page after its completion. Check back next week, and you'll be able to see how your vote(s) affected the TRPG game! As we get further into Idle Champions Presents, we hope to have many fun clips to share!
