Idle Champions: Greengrass 6
Posted in Idle Champions.

A great cosmic conflict has spilled out upon the prime material plane.

While celebrations to mark the start of spring begin in the quaint Sword Coast town of Triboar, a Githyanki raiding party descents from above, raining destruction.

It's up to the Champions to defend the innocent and figure out what has drawn the attention of the Gith and their Endless War. It's time for Greengrass 6!

Greengrass 6 introduces Antrius, the Human Bard from Deerstalker Picture's 1 for All, and brings back Gazrick Nomrad, the Gnome Druid from Rivals of Waterdeep and Orkira Illdrex, the Dragonborn Cleric of Heroes of the Planes. Players have until Monday, April 24th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Greengrass 6 unlocks and objectives.

New Champion: Antrius

Antrius is your classic fantasy Bard - he’s a lover, not a fighter. His supportive parents paid his way through Bard College, and now Antrius is out on the road trying to make a name for himself with bravado, showmanship, and a seductive smolder.

Antrius is a Support and Healing Champion who empowers his companions with an Inspiring Song. With this song, he increases the damage of nearby companions and gives them temporary health to push through tough enemies. His tales depend on the stories of your Champions, so he buffs his companions based on the number of feats you have unlocked. Once unlocked, you can find this human bard in Slot 4 with Jarlaxle.

For more information on Antrius and his abilities, check out his Champion Spotlight!

Year Six Variants

Mirror, Mirror: Defend Triboar from a Githyanki invasion with Antrius! Antrius starts in the formation (Slot 3) and can not be removed or swapped out. Two reflections of Antrius take up slots in the formation (slots 4 and 5). These reflections are just that, and don't actually have any of Antrius' abilities.
  • Reach Area 75.

  • A Timely Tune: Defend Triboar from a Githyanki invasion with only 1 hit point left! Antrius starts in the formation (Slot 3) and can not be removed or swapped out. Antrius starts out with Inspiring Song unlocked. After area 5, Champions' health is set to 1 and can not be healed above this. 1-3 Skeleton Archers spawn with each wave.
  • Reach Area 125.

  • Pick Your Poison: Defend Triboar from a Githyanki invasion with Antrius's favorite heroes! Antrius starts in the formation (Slot 3) and can not be removed or swapped out. You can only use Champions who are Bards, or have a total ability score of 78 or lower, or are Chaotic.
  • Reach Area 175.

  • Much more detail and information can be found in the game! Enjoy!

Idle Champions: Feast of the Moon 6
    Posted in Idle Champions.

During Feast of the Moon, residents of the Sword Coast pay homage to the deeds of legendary heroes by visiting their crypts and graves.

When the Champions arrive at The Crypt of Legends, they find hordes of undead crawling up from the depths. Something is making the dead heroes rise, and the answer will require a descent into the depths to discover the cause...

Feast of the Moon 6 introduces Virgil, the aasimar storm sorcerer and member of the Rivals of Waterdeep. This event also brings back two Heroes of the Planes: Penelope "Half-Pint", the Circle of the Moon Druid/Warlock, and Widdle, the dhampir gnome wizard! Players have until Monday, November 21st at 12PM Pacific to complete your Feast of the Moon 6 unlocks and objectives.

    New Champion: Virgil

    Dungeons & Dragons Virgil Brian

With unexpected and unwelcome Celestial heritage, Virgil was always trying to get away from both his past and a disapproving family. He put his talents to work on the sea, traveling with crews who he hoped would ask nothing more than that he earn his keep by way of his magic. Eventually he grew tired of wandering and ended up in the quiet lakeside town of Caradoon, thinking he might put down roots. But that all changed when he met and fell for a kindred spirit in the form of a charming and witty Tiefling named Kent. After some over-enthusiastic handling of the local tavern's rat problem, they found themselves on the move again. Fortunately they met Selise Astorio of the Rivals of Waterdeep, and while quickly becoming entangled in the group's adventures they discovered a new family and a new home.

Virgil is a support and speed Champion who is the master of lightning speeds! He makes the attacks of adjacent Champions faster, and speeds up progress if the formation is quickly dispatching enemies. Find out more about him and and his abilities by checking out his full Champion Spotlight!

It's up to the Champions to defend the innocent and figure out what has drawn the attention of the Gith and their Endless War. It's time for Greengrass 5!

Greengrass 5 introduces Gazrick Nomrad, the Gnome Druid from Rivals of Waterdeep, and brings back Orkira Illdrex, the Dragonborn Cleric, and Melf, the legendary Elf Fighter and Wizard. Players have until Monday, April 18th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Greengrass 5 unlocks and objectives.

    New Champion: Gazrick Nomrad

Hailing from the bitter cold of Icewind Dale, Gazrick is at home in the snow. But he was happy to be done with the cold as a traveling merchant, and he headed for the warmer climates of Waterdeep. There he fell into the company of the Rivals, joining them on adventures despite his insistence that he is just a simple entrepreneur. He may not think of himself as a hero, but he's done plenty of heroic deeds!

Gazrick is a member of the Rivals of Waterdeep, and is a Support and Gold Find Champion. He thrives in snowy environments and uses his cold-based attacks to slow and stun enemies. His attacks also reduce how much damage you need to deal to damage armor-based enemies! When you want to add him to your formation you can swap him with Minsc (Slot 7)

For more information on Gazrick and his abilities, check out his Champion Spotlight!

    Year Five Variants

Cool Comrades — Gazrick starts in the formation, and can't be moved or removed. Two Ice Mephits have befriended Gazrick and have joined the formation. It's not weird.
  • Reach Area 75.

  • Brain Freeze — Gazrick starts in the formation, and can't be moved or removed. He's created three Snow Golem companions. Each Snow Golem has an Intellect Devourer perched on their head. Really, it's not weird.
  • Reach Area 125.

  • Armored Assault — Gazrick starts in the formation, and while he can't be removed he can be moved. His Armor Ablation ability starts unlocked. All boss enemies have at least 25 armored health. This is the least weird.
  • Reach Area 175.

How far would you go to celebrate foolishness?

Festival of Fools is a time-honored tradition in Sword Coast communities. Townsfolk engage in the usual gluttonous consumption of food and drink during the festivities, but they also play pranks on each other.

Unfortunately, one prankster has decided to play a practical joke on a Frost Giant nearby...

Festival of Fools 5 introduces Tatyana, the Air Genasi Barbarian Druid played by Becca Scott on The Black Dice Society. Festival of Fools also brings back Alyndra Sarrbarand, Divination Wizard and Cleric of Oghma and Briv Steelmarrow, Half-Orc Paladin (Oath of Heroism). Players have until Monday, March 21st at 12 PM Pacific to complete their Festival of Fools 5 unlocks and objectives.

    I. Tatyana

Dungeons & Dragons Tatyana Key Art
This toweringly tall air-genasi barbarian earned her skills and power in the gladiatorial fighting pits of Koshmarr. Tatyana augmented her rage with the might of the bear totem, and the spirits of the mist connected her to the natural druidic world through the power of the moon. Her fearsome and deadly battle prowess is tempered by a respect for anyone who would return that respect. She is curious and bold, and while she's quick to jump into battle she's just as swift with her forgiveness.

Tatyana is a Tanking, Support, and Speed Champion who is faithful and protective of her friends and allies. When you want to add her to your formation you can swap her with Delina in slot 8.

    II. Tatyana's Stats

Race: Air Genasi Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Class: Barbarian/Druid Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her
    Age: 30
    Affiliation: Black Dice Society

    STR: 16 DEX: 13 CON: 16
    INT: 8 WIS: 14 CHA: 11

    Role: Tanking, Support, Speed
    Eligible for Patrons: Vajra
    Slot: 8 (Delina)

    Dungeons & Dragons Tatyana

    III. Tatyana's Design

Most of the Idle Champions community will recognize Becca Scott from her work on The Black Dice Society, Geek & Sundry, Dimension 20, and many other TTRPG shows and streams. But her work also includes a huge library of content as an actor, host, interviewer, podcaster, voice-over artist, and streamer! Plus she is the co-founder of the channel and production company Good Time Society.

The core of Tatyana's design focuses on how she channels her Fury and Rage into keeping her friends safe. She'll become a Faithful Friend to a random slot in the middle of the formation, encouraging that Champion to do more damage. As she tanks incoming attacks her Rising Fury will grow, gaining stacks of Fury that increase the effect of Faithful Friend. Eventually her Fury turns to Rage, and with bulging muscles and nasty claws she'll stop attacking with her Twin Kukri Strike and instead rely on her Primal Savagery to bite and claw at enemies! When there aren't enemies around to fight, she'll become distracted, heading off to Find a Feast and causing a few enemies to spawn and follow her back to her companions.

For more information on Tatyana and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

    Year Five Variants

    • Adventure Variant 1: I'm HUNGRY! — Tatyana starts in the formation. She can't be moved or removed from the formation. Quest requirements are doubled. Enemies spawned by Tatyana's Find a Feast ability count for 5x quest progress. Tatyana's Find a Feast ability starts out unlocked.
      Complete Area 75.
    • Getting to know Tatyana: When Tatyana hasn't been attacked in a while, she'll run off screen to find snacks (and more enemies to fight).

    • Adventure Variant 2: Exclusive Friend Club — Tatyana starts in the formation. She can't be moved or removed from the formation. In area 51 and beyond, only Tatyana and the Champions affected by Tatyana's Faithful Friend can deal damage.
      Complete Area 125.
    • Getting to know Tatyana: Tatyana buffs a random slot with her Faithful Friend ability. Use her specializations to increase the number of slots affected.

    • Adventure Variant 3: Tanks a Lot! — Every 5 seconds, each Champion takes damage which increases the further you get in the adventure.
      Complete Area 175.
    • Getting to know Tatyana: Tanks like Tatyana often protect your Champions by granting additional health. Include them to offset the constant damage!

    New DLC

    Dungeons & Dragons Shadowfell Tatyana

Also launching with Tatyana is the Shadowfell Tatyana Theme Pack! This pack includes an unlock for Tatyana, the new Shadowfell Tatyana Skin, the Twinkle, the Faerie Dragon familiar, Tatyana's Epic Entertainer Feat, which increases Tatyana's Charisma Score by +2, 1 Epic Potion of the Gold Hunter, and 16 Gold Tatyana Chests with 2 Guaranteed Shiny Equipment Cards.

When the Champions arrive at The Crypt of Legends, they find hordes of undead crawling up from the depths. Something is making the dead heroes rise, and the answer will require a descent into the depths to discover the cause...

Feast of the Moon 5 introduces Widdle, the Dhampir Gnome Wizard, played by Meagan Kenreck who you can see as Widdle on Idle Champions Presents the Trials of Mount Tiamat, airing Mondays at 4PM Pacific on the CNEGames Twitch. You can also catch her as Widdle on Heroes of the Planes Tuesdays at 6PM Pacific on the Demiplane Twitch.

This event also brings back Penelope "Half-Pint", Circle of the Moon Druid and Warlock from Heroes of the Planes, and brings back Sentry, the Warforged Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) from High Rollers: Aerois. Players have until Monday, November 22nd at 12PM Pacific to complete your Feast of the Moon 5 unlocks and objectives.

    New Champion: Widdle

Widdle's life goal is the destruction of Strahd, but with 423 years of gnomish wisdom, she realized she still needed more time. Becoming a dhampir seemed like the best option, and now she uses her enhanced speed and fearsome fangs to help her friends and show that being a dhampir does not make you a monster. With a big personality and an even bigger blunderbuss, she's ready to deal with any challenge!

Widdle is a Support, Healing and Speed Champion who's vampiric charms can buff the damage of her allies while encouraging them to attack faster. But all this battle can make a dhampir hungry, and those she buffs look extra tasty to oncoming enemies, making them spawn faster. When you want to add Widdle to your formation you can swap her with Celeste (Slot 2).

    II. Widdle's Stats

Race: Dhampir Gnome Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
    Class: Wizard Gender: Female
Age: 423 Affiliation: Heroes of the Planes

    STR: 18 DEX: 15 CON: 13
    INT: 17 WIS: 12 CHA: 11

    Role: Healing, Support, Speed

    Eligible for Patrons: Strahd

    Slot: 2, (Celeste)

    III. Widdle's Design

We've been adding the Heroes of the Planes to our Champion roster for quite a while, and it's a wonderful joy to have Meagan Kenreck honor us by bringing the final member to the party! Meagan is a Twitch streamer, graphic designer, photoshop enthusiast, and advocate for inclusivity. She's also known as Sofieus on Silver and Steel, the co-host of "Todd and Meagan talk D&D", and also plays as Widdle in "The Adventures of Widdle and Rend", a D&D one on one show with her Husband, Todd, who plays as Rend.

Widdle always seems to be grinning as she leads the charge into adventure or battle. She focuses on increasing the damage and speed of her friends, boosting adjacent Champion damage with Vampiric Gaze while reducing their base attack cooldowns by encouraging them to Hurry Up Now. Her Specializations boost her damage buff based on specific ability scores, and her Vampiric Bite Ultimate attack not only does enormous damage to a random enemy, but heals herself and her friends.

For more information on Widdle and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

    Year Five Variants

    • Variant 1: Dhampiric Nature — Widdle begins in the formation. She can't be moved or removed. Undead Enemies deal 200% additional damage and move 200% faster. Gold Find is reduced by 99%.
Getting to know Widdle: Widdle charms her adjacent allies with her Vampiric Gaze, increasing their damage. However, as a Speed Champion, she also increases enemy spawn speed with each adjacent ally! Fill in your formation quickly, Widdle's at the wheel!
      Complete Area 75.

    • Variant 2: Strahd's Test — Widdle may have a vendetta against Strahd, but she's also eligible for his Patron variants. As such, the dark lord has set up a test for our latest Champion. At each boss level, an additional undead boss appears:
      • Area 5: Lich
      • Area 10: Zombie Adventurer
      • Area 15: Powerful Will-o' Wisp
      • Area 20: Zombie Kobold King
      • Area 25: Armored Ranged Skeleton
      • Area 30: Weakened Vampire
      • Area 35: Revenant
      • Area 40: Mummy
      • Area 45: Bone Naga
      • Area 50: Strahd on Horseback
      Complete Area 125.

    • Variant 3: A Widdle of This, A Widdle of That — Widdle begins in the formation. She can't be moved or removed. The Base attack cooldown of all Champions is increased by 5 seconds. This increase does not affect Heroes of the Planes Champions. A Giant Rat accompanies the formation, intent on becoming friends with Widdle's pet rat Gerard. Widdle said not to hurt it.
Getting to know Widdle: Widdle's Hurry Up Now ability grants a chance for adjacent allies to have their base attack cooldown reset after attacking. Level her up quickly to gain access to this necessary skill for this variant.
      Complete Area 175.

    Idle Champions: Greengrass 4
    Posted in Idle Champions.

A great cosmic conflict has spilled out upon the prime material plane.

While celebrations to mark the start of spring begin in the quaint Sword Coast town of Triboar, a Githyanki raiding party descents from above, raining destruction.

It's up to the Champions to defend the innocent and figure out what has drawn the attention of the Gith and their Endless War. It's time for Greengrass 4!

Greengrass 4 introduces Orkira Illdrex, the Dragonborn Cleric of Heroes of the Planes, and brings back Melf, the legendary Elf Fighter and Wizard and Aila, Wild Elf Barbarian of the Heroes of Aerois. Players have until Monday, April 19th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Greengrass 4 unlocks and objectives.

Between a strange life filled with monsters, Gods, time and multiplanar travel, death, the destruction of worlds and the saving of others, Orkira has survived and adapted to deal with any situation with a motto of 'One problem at a time.'

Orkira is a Healing and Support Champion who continuously heals non-adjacent damaged Champions with Lesser Restoration, and will Self-Sacrifice if she can prevent the death of one of her companions. She also boosts DPS with Elemental Fire. When you want to add Orkira to your formation, you can swap her with Bruenor (Slot 1).

    Year Four Variants

    • Wise Warriors Wait — Only Champions with a WIS score of 13 or higher can be used. Enemies move 100% faster. Every 25 areas, that speed boost is increased by 100% (additively).
    • Reach Area 75.
    • Volo's Guide to Orkira — Orkira starts in the formation and can't be moved or removed (save for her ultimate, of course). Volo joins the formation and catalogues Orkira's unique capabilities. - Volo forgot to mention that he angered a swarm of spined devils before joining us. They appear in each area and deal 300% additional damage.
    • Reach Area 125.
    • Flayer Whispers — Armored Mind Flayer Guards appear in each area. The Elder Brain slowly drives your Champions mad. When a Champion gets a killing blow, they gain 5-10 stacks of a "Whispers" debuff. When they reach 100+ stacks, they are stunned for 15 seconds. Mind Flayers and the Elder Brain all deal 100% additional damage.

    Idle Champion Spotlight: Orkira Illdrex
    Posted in Idle Champions.

Orkira Illdrex joins her friends Avren, Penelope, Freely, and Briv Steelmarrow, and Alyndra Sarrbarand.

You may recognize Orkira from Heroes of the Planes and D4. Previously, she starred on D&D Beyond's Silver & Steel, Heroes of the Vale.

We are delighted to welcome her Idle Champions roster with your Year 4 Greengrass event. It's time for the latest Idle Champion Spotlight!

    I. Orkira Illdrex

Between a strange life filled with monsters, Gods, time and multiplanar travel, death, the destruction of worlds and the saving of others, Orkira has survived and adapted to deal with any situation with a motto of 'One problem at a time.'

    III. Orkira's Design

We were always excited about the possibility of working with Lauren Urban about bringing her beloved Orkira to Idle Champions, and little did we think many moons ago during our initial planning meetings that we would be welcoming not only Orkira to Idle Champions but also Lauren herself as our Community Manager!

When Lauren isn't working with us at Codename, she's a prolific DM and player on a variety of livestreams and podcasts (Heroes of the Planes, D4, Dungeon Drunks), as well as a professional classical oboist.

Orkira is sweet and straightforward, much like she is on livestream, healing and buffing the party. Orkira continuously heals nonadjacent Champions with Lesser Restoration, like most healing, it's most effective when her allies are damaged. Noble and kind of heart, she will Self-Sacrifice to swap places with a non-adjacent ally when they are about to receive a killing blow. Orkira also aids the party by damaging enemies with Elemental Fire. This is boosted by her Healing Flame.

The Phoenix has played a large role in Orkira's life, and her bond with the Phoenix is explored with her Specializations Breath of the Phoenix to increase damage and Tailfeather of the Phoenix to increase healing.

    IV. Orkira's Abilities

    Basic Attack

    • Burning Hands — Orkira leaps to a random enemy and raises her hands, causing fire to erupt from the tips of her claws in a small area of effect cone.

    Formation Abilities

    • Lesser Restoration — Orkira heals all non-adjacent damaged Champions. Buffed by equipment, feats, and upgrades.
    • Elemental Fire — Whenever Orkira damages an enemy, they receive one stack of Elemental Fire, taking 10% of Orkira's damage per second for 15 seconds and receiving 100% additional damage from all attacks. This ability stacks up to 10 times (additively) and attempting to add another stack will reset the cooldown of all stacks. Buffs to this ability increase only the damage debuff bonus (not the damage over time). Buffed by equipment, feats, and upgrades.
    • Healing Flame — Increase the effect of Elemental Fire by 100% for each order of magnitude worth of effective healing done with Lesser Restoration on the current run. Buffed by equipment, feats, and upgrades. Buffs apply to the post-stack value.
    • Self Sacrifice — If a Champion Orkira is able to heal (ie. non-adjacent) is about to take a killing blow, Orkira instantly swaps formation slots with that Champion for 10 seconds and takes the hit for them. During this time Orkira's overwhelm point is set to twice the other Champion's and neither Orkira nor the other Champion can be moved, removed, or swapped out; after the time expires they swap back regardless of whether Orkira and/or the other Champion died during the time. This effect can only occur once every 60 seconds. This ability is not buffed.

    Specializations

    • Breath of the Phoenix — Increase the size of Orkira's Burning Hands area of effect cone and have Elemental Fire apply two stacks instead of one.
    • Tailfeather of the Phoenix — Increase the effect of Lesser Restoration by 100%. Lesser Restoration will now "heal" undamaged Champions and Healing Flame will count 1% of this non-effective healing as well.

    Ultimate Ability

    • Radiance of the Phoenix — Orkira flies up over the enemies, grasping The Domain of the Phoenix and uttering a prayer, summoning The Phoenix to rain Elemental Fire down upon the battlefield. This deals damage over time and increases the Elemental Fire stacks of affected enemies by 1 every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.

    V. Orkira's Epic Equipment

    Slot 1: Global DPS
    Slot 2: Global DPS
    Slot 3:
    Lesser Restoration
    Slot 4:
    Elemental Fire
    Slot 5:
    Healing Flame
    Slot 6: Ultimate Cooldown

    VI. Conclusion

We are thrilled Orkira is keeping her friends on the Idle Champions roster alive and we are excited to see how well she fits into the meta. If you have feedback, let us know in a Community Q&A or Champion feedback post on the Idle Champions Subreddit, on the Steam forums, or on the Official Idle Champions Discord!
