Idle Champions: Founders' Day 3
Posted in Idle Champions.

The Champions are at the Field of Triumph in Waterdeep for Founders' Day to watch the illusory shows of the history of the city and the Founders themselves.

Archduke Zariel of Avernus sets a plan in motion to harvest souls for the Blood War during the festivities...

Will our Champions be able to stop her in time? Players have until Monday, July 6th at 12PM PDT to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

Founders' Day 3 introduces Freely, the lucky halfling from Beyond Heroes and Silver & Steel, and brings back the Documancer Walnut Dankgrass, and the kolbold bard, Deekin Scalesinger. Players have until Monday, July 6th at 12PM PDT to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

Dungeons & Dragons Freely D&D Beyond B. Dave Walters

Year 3 Champion: Freely

Freely has traveled across multiple Planes, but he has always had his luck to keep him safe. Even an unfortunate detour into being trapped as an Illithid ultimately led him into the company of his new friends, Beyond Heroes! Armed with the magic in his blood, and the Faith that flows through his sword, he always seeks to destroy evil wherever he can sense it. Freely prefers to act first and think later, since hey, things always tend to work out for him anyway, right?

Freely is a Gold Find and Support Champion. He increases your divine favor directly with his Adventurous Tale ability. When you want to add Freely to your formation, you can swap him with Minsc (Slot 7).

For more information about Freely, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Freely dev blog!

Dungeons & Dragons Walnut Dankgrass Aquisitions Incorporated CTeam

Year 2 Champion: Walnut Dankgrass

Walnut Dankgrass (the k is silent) is played by Trystan Falcone on Penny Arcade's The "C" Team.
Walnut is a child of the Enclave Panax Anima, an all-female clan of woodland defenders within the Kryptgarden Forest. Not only a frighteningly enthusiastic member of Acquisitions Incorporated, she also strives to protect the natural world by any means necessary. Did we mention she also has the goddess Mielikki living inside her? That seems important.

Walnut is a versatile Tank and Support Champion. Her Documancer ability can be customized for your formation needs through multiple specializations. When you want to add Walnut to your formation, you can swap her with Delina (Slot 8).

For more information about our Walnut, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Walnut Dankgrass dev blog!

Dungeons & Dragons Deekin Scalesinger Kobold

Year 1 Champion: Deekin Scalesinger

A former member of the Dripping Fang clan, Deekin was once a Skald for a White Dragon named Tymofarrar. Once he was released from Tymofarrar's service, he set out to become the most amazing storyteller in all of FaerÈ—n. He yearns to sing and tell stories of heroic deeds, but his songs often devolve into "tales" of the doom that is coming to him or his companions.
Deekin is a Support Champion. He helps the party by buffing DPS and by attracting enemies (to help clear areas more quickly) with his Song of Doom. When you want to add Deekin to your formation, you can swap him with Bruenor (Slot 1).

For more information about Deekin, check out the Year One Champion Balance Update (March 2020) dev blog!

Year Three Variants

  • Team Smrt Defense Team - Only Champions with an INT score of 12 or lower can be used.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Invasion Nation — Whenever a demon or fiend spawns normally, two more copies of that creature spawn. These creatures don't trigger additional spawns, don't drop gold or count for quest progress, and move twice as quickly as normal ones.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Live Free — Freely takes up slot 6 in the formation with Luck of Yondalla unlocked and can not be moved or removed. Champions placed adjacent to Freely automatically get Luck of Yondalla, regardless of their alignment. Enemies can only be damaged if they are affected by at least one Lucky Break.
    Reach Area 175.

Year Two Variants

  • Rain of Fire — Fireballs occasionally rain from the sky, damaging a random Champion. These Fireballs become more frequent the further you progress.

  • Reach Area 75.
  • Close Quarters Combat — Only Champions with melee Base Attacks may be used.

  • Reach Area 125.
  • Aww, Hells Nuts — Enemies become much more powerful over the course of the adventure. Walnut starts the adventure in your formation and cannot be moved, removed, or swapped out. Demonic Squirrels occasionally spawn. When killed, these squirrels drop Hell-Nuts, which increase the effectiveness of Walnut's Documancer ability and last until the end of the adventure, stacking additively.
  • Reach Area 175.

Year One Variants

  • Spectator Sport — Three local farmers have joined in on the Founders' Day tussle, and won't take the hint that they should probably take a seat. It might be because they are pretty drunk. They take up a slot in your formation and change positions every 25 areas.

  • Reach Area 75.
  • Doom is Coming to Waterdeep — Deekin must sing a song so everyone in Waterdeep knows that doom is coming. I know. We tried talking to him. However, he doesn't know which spot will give him the best acoustics. Deekin is always in your formation and will change positions every 10 areas. Deekin cannot be moved because, well, Deekin is singing a song.

  • Reach Area 125.
  • The Blood War — Whenever you kill a demon, devils get stronger and demons get weaker, and vice-versa.
  • Reach Area 175.

COTLI: Song of Thrones 5!

Seasons change and winters pass, as songs begin to fade,
Monsters skulk trying to hide, a hunter to evade,
Thrones forgotten in the past, their legacies betrayed,
A hybrid dragon stalks her prey with justice as her blade.

A Song of Thrones 5 has arrived, bringing with it the hunter of monsters, Imani Saskien. This year's event runs until Tuesday, June 23rd at 12PM Pacific, introducing Imani Saskien and bringing back Holddoor, The Wolf King, RoboQueen, Zombie Winter, Leerion, the Royal Dwarf, and Brogon, Prince of Dragons!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Imani Saskien

Tags: event, female, dragon, human, magical, support

When you wish to hunt monsters, you need an expert to guide you. Imani Saskien has been tracking and slaying monsters her whole life. Thanks to her unique physiology as a half-human and half-dragon mutant hybrid, she is also incredibly well suited to her profession.

Imani's Basic Scouting and Helpful Potions increase the damage of all Crusaders in the formation, while her connection with Special Kin further boosts DPS for each Dragon tag in the formation. If you happen to have Imani adjacent to Gold Find Crusaders, A Fine Reward increases DPS for each one of them, stacking multiplicatively.

There is a 33% chance that any monster spawned is Marked For Death by Imani, becoming poisoned. Monsters that have been poisoned take ten times more damage from DPS and fifty(!) times more damage from Click Damage. The chances of Marked For Death successfully poisoning enemies is increased by 2% for every Magical Crusader in the formation once you unlock Imani's Spell Practice ability.

Finally, Trusty Mount increases DPS for every Animal tag in the formation, stacking additively.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Imani Saskien | Imani Saskien takes up a slot in the formation. Magical Crusaders in the formation have their upgrades and DPS disabled. Crusaders take damage over time. Healing abilities. Invulnerable Dragon monsters spawn that will instantly kill a Crusader and themselves. When a dragon dies, Imani heals the remainder of the formation to full health. Monsters attack Imani last.
    Reach area 400.

  • Hot Potato Crown | Only Royal Crusaders may be used. Difficulty is increased. Four spots in the formation have random buffs and debuffs; affected formation spots change every 50 areas.
    Reach area 450.

  • Set Dressing | Area quests replaced by the need to find 3 coffee cups. Coffee cups have a much lower drop rate than standard quests.
    Reach area 475.

  • Well-Lit Night Scene | A brazier takes up a slot in the formation. Experience is gained at a fixed rate, and causes Crusaders to deal less damage. Crusaders adjacent to the brazier become exhausted at a slower rate than Crusaders in the dark. The brazier moves every 50 areas.
    Reach area 500.

  • New Show in Town | A minstrel occupies a slot in formation and sings annoying music. Crusaders adjacent to the minstrel are fully disabled; Crusaders two spots away from the minstrel do zero DPS. Your gold bonus is equal to 300% times the number of Crusaders in the formation. Monster difficulty scales slower compared to other Tier 5 event objectives.
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Thrones Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop All Tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crusaders will only appear in All Tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop when you go to purchase chests with real money or event currency.

What About Older Event Crusaders?

Previously-available Song of Thrones Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders are once again available to unlock as part of A Song of Thrones 5. For more information about those Crusaders, check out our Event Blogs from previous years:

Players will have until Tuesday, June 23rd at 12PM Pacific to complete A Song of Thrones 5.

Idle Champions: Dragondown 3
Posted in Idle Champions.

At the mouth of the River Mirar in the northwest of the Sword Coast lies the port city of Luskan, also known as the City of Sails. Officially governed by the five High Captains, Luskan is actually secretly run by Jarlaxle Baenre and the Bregan D'aerthe.

And they need your help.

While celebrating the Summer Solstice with a smaller scale version of Waterdeep's Dragondown festival, Luskan has managed to draw the attention - and the wrath - of a Bronze Dragon and their kin...

Dragondown 3 introduces Nova, the knowledge-hungry Genasi Warlock from High Rollers: Aerois, and brings back the ruthless Lizardfolk Fighter, Korth, and the legendary Dwarf Fighter/Barbarian, Binwin Bronzebottom. Players have until Monday, June 15th at 12PM Pacific to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

Dungeons & Dragons Nova V'Ger High Rollers Kim Richards

Year 3 Champion: Nova V'Ger

Nova V'ger has a voracious appetite for knowledge; she needs to know anything and everything about anything and everything. Her magic powers have been gifted to her by a mysterious entity called Tiangong. She dreams of travelling to the stars and discovering the location of the true genasi homeworld.

Nova is a Tank and Support Champion who understands that knowledge is power. She buffs her most intelligent allies for each monster killed, protecting herself with her Hexblade, Tiangong. When you want to add Nova to your formation, you can swap her with Jamilah (Slot 11).

For more information about Nova, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Nova dev blog!

Dungeons & Dragons Korth Lizardfolk Fighter Samurai Xanathar's Guide to Everything

Year 2 Champion: Korth

Raised as a gladiator in the pit arenas of Kara-Tur, Korth has since traveled the world studying fighting styles and the art of war. Korth is infamous for his skill and efficiency in battle – and for his ruthlessness, as he never spares the lives of his opponents. Those who cross Korth's path do so at their own risk.
Korth is a Support Champion who marks enemies he hits. Attacking marked enemies can increase Champion damage, lower cooldowns, and grant temporary shields. When you want to add Korth to your formation, you can swap him with Celeste (Slot 2).

For more information about Korth, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Korth dev blog!

Dungeons & Dragons Binwin Bronzebottom Scott Kurtz Binwin's Minions AI Acquisitions Incorporated

Year 1 Champion: Binwin Bronzebottom

Binwin Bronzebottom was a member of a rather infamous adventuring group/company, until he left to spend more time with his family. A grumpy and headstrong dwarf with a penchant for springing traps rather than disarming them, if he's not the first into battle then he's disappointed. There's nary a door, tankard, or acid pit that hasn't felt the wrath of Binwin Bronzebottom at one time or another. These days, when he's not adventuring with the likes of Drizzt and Minsc, Binwin leads a small group of incompetent and eminently replaceable minions through perilous adventures.
Binwin is a celebrity dwarf and DPS Champion, played by Scott Kurtz on Acquisitions Incorporated and now the leader of Binwin's Minions. Binwin deals extra damage to objects and armored enemies, and he gains extra attacks whenever adjacent allies attack enemies before he does. When you want to add Binwin to your party, you can swap him with Nayeli (Slot 3).

For more information about Binwin, check out the Year One Champion Balance Update dev blog!

Year Three Variants

  • Failed Perception — Only Champions with WIS 14 or lower can be used. Whenever an enemy spawns, there is a 25% chance that it will be an illusory enemy, and won't count towards quest progress or drop gold. When an illusory enemy is killed with a normal attack, the Champion that killed the enemy is stunned for 4 seconds.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Tranced Travellers — Two of the slots in your formation are affected by a magical spell that's causing folks around Luskan to start snoring! The affected slots change every 15 seconds by moving to a random adjacent slot. Heroes in affected slots must concentrate on not falling asleep, so they do not attack and all their formation abilities and ultimate abilities are disabled.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Dolgrim Incursion — Only Champions with INT 14 or higher can be used. Nova begins in the formation and cannot be moved or swapped out. Two Dolgrims appear with each wave of monsters. They drop no gold and do not count towards quest progress. Dolgrims have increased movement speed and their damage is increased by 400%.
    Reach Area 175.

Year Two Variants

  • It's All Going To Be O.K. — Only Champions with an 'o' or 'k' in their name may be used.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Korth's Kobold Kleanup Krew — Korth begins the Adventure in your formation with his Lizardfolk Tactics upgrade unlocked. Armored kobolds attack the formation. These kobolds are invulnerable until marked by Korth.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Durable Dragon — When the Dragon boss in area 50 is defeated, she immediately resurrects with additional armor hits (+20%), attack speed (+25%) and damage (+33%). She gains additional resurrection (and stacking bonuses) for every 50 areas completed (resurrects once in area 50, twice in area 100, three times in area 150, etc.).
    Reach Area 175.

Year One Variants

  • Awaken the Beasts — Beasts move much more quickly and deal far more damage.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Binwin's Minions — Two of Binwin's Minions take up slots in the formation, decreasing the damage of adjacent Champions by 90% with the exception of Binwin, whom they buff by 400%. Binwin's Minions move to different slots in the formation every 20 areas.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Untrusting — The bronze dragon doesn't trust you to return her egg, so she continuously sends her Wyrmlings to keep an eye on you. Four different varieties of Wyrmling spawn at random.
    Reach Area 175.

See the in-game FAQ for more information!
