Idle Champions: Midwinter 6

Deadwinter Day has arrived once again in Longsaddle. While most citizens keep warm in their homes and exchange gifts to celebrate the midpoint of winter with friends and family, the Champions have been hired by the infamous Harpells to patrol the outskirts of town...

Midwinter 6 introduces Fen, the Drow Dhampir Warlock from the Black Dice Society, and brings back Rust on the Habour, hydrophobic Tabaxi rogue and sometimes member of the Oxventure Guild, and Talin Uran, a Combat Wheelchair-using Tiefling Rogue. Players have until Monday, January 23rd at 12 PM Pacific to complete their Midwinter 6 unlocks and objectives.

I. Fen

Dungeons & Dragons Fen Midwinter
    This Drow Dhampir Warlock has a touch of mischief and sneakiness, but she's loyal to those she cares for and a fearsome opponent for those who have earned her hate. Above all else, everything Fen has done has been for Isolde's freedom. Now she needs a new purpose to fight for, and maybe she can find it among the Society.


Fen is a DPS and Support Champion, and is the newest Black Dice Society member to join the formation. In addition to buffing the damage of Champions in her row, this Warlock/Rogue increases the attack speed of all Warlocks in the formation. Finally, she's keen to help you finish any Patron challenges you might still be facing. Once unlocked, you can find this Dhampir Drow in Slot 6 opposite Asharra.

Year Six Variants


  • Adventure Variant 1: Mirtwinter Day - Patrol the outskirts of Longsaddle on Deadwinter Day with Mirt the Moneylender. Fen joins the formation and can be moved, but not removed. Mirt also joins the formation and only Champions in Mirt's column can deal damage.
    Complete Area 75.

  • Adventure Variant 2: The Wise and the Warlocks - Patrol the outskirts of Longsaddle on Deadwinter Day with the wisest of your Champions. Fen joins the formation and can be moved, but not removed. Vajra and redeemed Zariel also join the formation; they're here for moral support. You may only use Warlocks, Black Dice Society Champions, or Champions with WIS 15+.
    Complete Area 125.

  • Adventure Variant 3: Oh Great, More Mist! - Patrol the outskirts of Longsaddle on Deadwinter Day as the mists of Ravenloft envelop the city. Fen joins the formation and can be moved, but not removed. Since the weather is foggy, you can't use Champions with ranged attacks, except for Desmond. 1-2 zombies spawn with each wave; they don't drop gold or count toward quest progress. Strahd spawns as a second boss in each boss area and he must also be defeated to progress.
    Complete Area 175.

Idle Champions: Simril 6

Someone outside Luskan has been pillaging the food stores in advance of this year's Simril celebration. Residents are becoming worried that there may not be enough to last the long Sword Coast winter to come!

Simril 6 introduces Warduke, the legendary mercenary for hire human fighter! Simril also brings back Yorven Springpaw, the resident murder bunny Harengon Barbarian Druid, and Lucius the High Elf Sorcerer of the High Rollers: Aerois party! Players have until Monday, December 12th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Simril 6 unlocks and objectives.

I. Warduke



    Warduke's services as a remorseless killer-for-hire can be easily bought. The evil swordsman isn't terribly bright, which is why he leaves the plotting and scheming to others. He just likes to hit things with his sword.

This deadly warrior is a Tanking and DPS Champion who grows more powerful the more he swings his sword, all while inverting the positional formation abilities of the other Champions. Once you have unlocked his services, you can swap Warduke with Delina in Slot 8. Year Six Variants


  • A Figure of Action - Simril is ruined! Someone has pilfered the food supplies and the lack of calories is making everyone attack slowly! Warduke joins the formation, and can't be moved or removed. Warduke's normal attack speed cooldown is reduced by 1 seconds while all other Champions have their normal attack speed cooldown increased by 3 seconds!
    Complete Area 75

  • Yield! - Strongheart thinks you are responsible for the stolen food supplies! Warduke joins the formation, and can't be moved or removed. Only Evil Champions, Chaotic Champions, or Champions with the Gold Find role can be used. Strongheart spawns in each boss area and must additionally be defeated to progress.
    Reach Area 125

  • Strike That, Reverse It - Only specific Champions are able to save Simril now! Warduke joins the formation, and can't be moved or removed. You may only use Warduke and Champions that have positional formation abilities.

    Idle Champions: Season 1 Reward Shop Update

    As we approach the end of Season 1: Heroes of Aerois, we have an announcement regarding our plans for the Season 1 reward shop.

    Season 1 will officially end on Wednesday, November 23rd at 12 PM Pacific. However, the Season 1 reward shop will remain open for one additional week. While players will not be able to complete quests during this time, it allows players to spend any remaining currency before the Season 1 reward shop closes on Wednesday, November 30th at 12 PM Pacific.

    The following exclusive items from the Season 1 reward shop will become available in Wild Offers six months after the end of Season 1, on May 23, 2023:

        Season 1 Feats will also become available for 50,000 Gems each.

    • Hither of the Feywild Variant 3: Don't Squeeze the Spiders
    • Venture into the Feywild while fighting spiders resistant to magic.
      • Additional Giant Spiders appear in each area. They don't drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress.
      • Only Champions with a melee or ranged base attack can be used.
      • Champions' base attack cooldowns are increased by 3 seconds.
      • Complete area 450.

    • Prince of a Thousand Enemies Variant 3: Where the Magic Happens
    • Head further into Hither with your best magical attackers.
      • Only Champions with a Magical base attack can be used.
      • Whenever a Champion attacks and doesn't kill at least one monster, the Champion is stunned for 5 seconds.
      • Complete area 500.

    Idle Champions: Seasons

    There are many reasons our players enjoy Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms: the challenge of formation strategy, the joy of playing with familiar Champions, an appreciation for the D&D story and lore...and of course, cool rewards! So we're excited to introduce Seasons as another way to have fun and get awesome rewards in the process!

    What are Seasons?

    Seasons are multi-month events that run roughly 10 weeks. During a Season, you can complete daily, weekly, and Season-long quests, increase your Season level, and purchase Season Rewards from the Season Shop. Seasons have a wide variety of rewards for players of all levels, including exclusive skins, feats, and even modron cores!

    Each season focuses on a group of five existing Champions. The chosen Champions receive balance changes at the start of the Season, and the rewards for the season are focused on those five Champions.

    What can I earn during Seasons?

    Season rewards include basic items like potions, chests, and contracts, but also include unique items such as skins, feats, and even a modron core. There are also exclusive, one-time item level boosts for the Season Champions, meaning those Season Champions will come out of the Season with a significant amount of power!

    There is also a Season-long Buff that gets more powerful as you level up your Season level or buy rewards, and focuses on buffing the season Champions. If a Season has a modron core as a reward, the core's outputs will usually mimic some of the Champion-specific power gained from the Season Buff. At the end of the Season, you can convert your Season favor into favor for ALL of your permanent campaigns deities!

    Do I need to buy a Season Pass to participate?

    A Season pass is not necessary to participate in the Season system, though many of the more exclusive rewards require it. You can complete Season quests, claim many rewards, and convert your Season favor when the Season ends all without a Season pass.

    What are Season Quests?

    Season Quests are like patron challenges. They come in three varieties: Daily Quests, Seasonal Quests, and Milestone Quests. All Season Quests reward Season XP, Season Favor, and Season Currency when completed.
    • Three new Daily Quests are made available every day. These are simple quests that can be completed quickly and easily. If you get a Daily Quests you don't want, you can optionally replace it with another. You can only do this once per day for each Daily Quest slot.
    • Seven Seasonal Quests are released each week. You have until the end of the Season to complete these quests, though only ten of them can be active at a time. These are generally more challenging quests that will require a bit more time or imagination to complete, so don't delay!
    • Ten Milestone Quests are available from the very beginning of the season, each having ten tiers. Completing one tier of a Milestone Quest will unlock the next tier of that Milestone Quest. These are challenging, long-term Quests which will require significant investment to complete all ten tiers.

    What is Season XP?

    Season XP is earned by completing Season Quests and used to increase your Season Level. When you level up, you unlock an additional effect for your Season Buff and may unlock new reward tiers.

    What is Season Favor?

    Season Favor is earned by completing Season Quests. When a Season ends, you will convert your Season Favor into favor for all of your unlocked permanent campaigns. The more you have, the bigger your boost will be!

    What is Season Currency?

    Season Currency is earned by completing Season Quests and used to purchase Season Rewards from the Season Rewards Shop.

    How do I unlock new reward tiers?

    New Reward Tiers are unlocked in the Season Rewards Shop by leveling up your Season Level. You can do this simply by completing Season Quests!

    What happens when a Season ends?

    When a Season ends, all incomplete Season Quests are abandoned. Any unpurchased rewards are forfeited and your Season Favor can be converted into favor for all of your unlocked permanent campaign deities. Unpurchased premium items will be added to the wild offer pool at some point in the future.

    Will there be more Seasons in the future?

    Our current plan is to run four Seasons per year, using them as an opportunity to highlight and potentially majorly rework up to twenty Champions per year.

    Season One Begins September 14th, 2022 at 12pm Pacific!
    Champions: The Heroes of Aerois: Aila, Qillek, Sentry, Nova, and Lucius

    All five Aerois affiliated Champions have received balance changes, with the most significant going to Nova and Lucius. The main thrust of the design changes was to make the Aerois Champions work well together, with their high-level focus being on slowing, stunning, and rooting enemies. When this occurs, they get more powerful.

    Additionally, Time Gate costs for the Heroes of Aerois will be cut in half during Season 1! So until the end of Season 1, all Time Gates for Aila, Qillek, Sentry, Nova, and Lucius will cost 3 pieces instead of the usual 6!

    Aila

    Aila's Aerois Synergy ability has changed to add stack each time an Electrified enemy is attacked, so that it can stack up even when a single enemy remains on screen. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks affects the damage done to electrified enemies. Both Shielding Storm and Aila's ultimate, Storm Herald, were adjusted to scale based on Aerois Synergy stacks. Storm Soul's damage bonus is now increased more by Electrified boss enemies. Finally, Aila's fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

    Qillek

    Qillek's Aerois Synergy ability has been changed to stack up the longer you're in an area, rather than being a complicated algorithm based on effective healing that only stacks high with certain enemy attacks. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks continues to affect Bless. Aside from that, a new ability, Slow Sanctions, has been added to increase gold drops from stunned, slowed, or rooted enemies. His existing specializations were tweaked and a new one was added to support his new gold find ability. Finally, Qillek's fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

    Sentry

    Sentry's Aerois Synergy ability has been changed to stack each time an enemy spawns and each second a boss is alive. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks continues to affect Guardian of Solwynn. Speaking of Guardian of Solwynn, this ability no longer requires Sentry to be in the front-most column to have an effect -- instead a new specialization choice increases its effectiveness in exchange for adding this existing restriction back on. This new specialization replaces Sentry's old Echo's Will specialization, which increased the effectiveness of Sentry's speed ability Echo Resolution. But don't worry, that effectiveness increase is now available all the time via a new Feat. Finally, as with the previous Champions, Sentry's fifth equipment slot now increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

    Nova

    Nova has been completely reworked from the ground up. Curiosity has been replaced by a new ability with the same name that increases the damage enemies take the longer they are alive. Discovery has been replaced by a new ability called The Crew which increases the damage of Champions near Nova based on the sum of those Champions' levels, stacking multiplicatively. Nova's Close Encounters ability has been removed. Failsafe has been changed so that the damage shield also applies to other Champions in Nova's column and now includes a big damage buff while the shields remain. It also scales with Nova's HP rather than a fixed amount. Nova's Aerois Synergy now stacks whenever an enemy is stunned, slowed, or rooted. Stacks are lost upon changing areas and the number of stacks increases the effect of The Crew. Slow and Protective Field remain the two only unchanged abilities. Nova's specializations have been adjusted to support her new abilities. Her ultimate, Active Tiangong, now scales with Aerois Synergy stacks, and finally, her fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

    Lucius

    Lucius has also seen significant changes that realign him as a main DPS rather than a quasi-support. Rather than a DoT, Arcane Chromat - Acid now increases Lucius' acid damage during subsequent attacks against the same enemies, stacking multiplicatively. Arcane Chromat - Cold now does massive damage to enemies that are slowed, stunned, or rooted (especially ones with multiple slows, stuns, or effects on them). Elemental Adept now scales its damage based off of Aerois Synergy stacks. Lucius' Aerois Synergy continues to stack when Elemental Adept triggers, but has been tweaked to be more similar to the other Aerois Champions' new Aerois Synergy abilities. It also now applies to all of Lucius' damage, instead of just his Acid damage. Lucius' specializations have all been reworked to support his adjusted abilities, and as expected, his fifth equipment slot increases the effect of Aerois Synergy instead of increasing ultimate damage.

    Conclusion

    In addition to the ability changes, all five Aerois Champions received a full second look at their upgrades, resulting in higher base multipliers for many of them.

    Taken together, the Aerois team now focuses on slowing, stunning, and otherwise delaying enemies from reaching the front lines, while simultaneously having a beefy front line that can hold back enemies long enough for Lucius to shred them to pieces, especially when combined with the team's stuns, slows, and roots. Aerois works well with other Champions that stun, slow, or root with their base attacks, such as Wulfgar or Penelope. We hope these changes, along with the excitement of the new season, will help you have a lot of fun playing with the full Aerois team!

    Idle Champions: Weekly Party

    The weekend buffs have been an excellent opportunity to take advantage of more powerful Champions and push through a tough variant or patron challenge. So we thought it would be fun to offer some more opportunities for Champions to get buff. So this week we're introducing a new weekly feature to Idle Champions: The Weekly Party!

    The Weekly Party feature runs from Noon Pacific on Monday to Noon Pacific Friday every week and functions similarly to weekend buffs, but with some important differences and improvements.

    Notably, the Weekly Party highlights just three Champions instead of five. One of the three Champions will be the same for all players each week (this first week is Widdle starting Sept 12!), while the other two will be randomly selected based on each individual player's Champion usage from the past several weeks. In this way, the Weekly Party will almost always include powerful Champions that you are actively using in your formations. All three Champions receive buffs to their abilities for the duration of the Weekly Party.

    In the shop, rather than having unique chests that contain gear for all three Champions, special chest packs are available while the weekly party is running that contains individual chests for each Champion. Some of these packs award more overall chests than normal for the price point, resulting in a quasi "bonus chests sale" for the chosen Champion chests each week. Additionally, the bonus Golden Epic equipment awarded for your first purchase is randomly selected from the pool of GEs available for the three Champions, increasing your odds of seeing a GE that you can immediately use. Finally, pack purchases during the Weekly Party will increase your Weekly Party buffs, making the chosen Champions even more potent.

    Please note that the release of the Weekly Party system will be delayed on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. We plan to roll Weekly Party out on those platforms in the coming weeks!

    We hope you enjoy this new feature and can make use of the buffs to push through a tough variant or patron challenge.     The new series of our colorful, popular, and adorable comic Pack Antics has returned with an exciting Spelljammer adventure! This time Krydle, Nayeli, Makos, Reya, Shandie, and Tyril have all been polymorphed into small kobolds, and geared out to take on whatever Wildspace can throw at them!

    Seeking rest and respite from a year of adventure, the Champions arrive in the tranquil town of Longsaddle - only to find it under siege! Drow from the Underdark are on the hunt in Longsaddle for a Harpell artifact, and it's a race against time to find it before they do...

    Brightswords 5 introduces Dob the upbeat, half-orc bard from The Oxventure crew, and brings back his teammate Corazón de Ballena, the dashing Human Pirate, and Lazaapz, the Goblin Armorer Artificer. Players have until Monday, September 5th at 12PM PDT to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

    I. New Champion: Dob

      Dob never knew his parents. When he fell ill as a baby, his sister Suzette searched far and wide for a cure. She successfully saved his life, but on the last of her trips out to find medicine, Suzette never returned. So Dob became a self-taught traveling bard, sleeping under the stars and roaming town to town in search of his lost sister. This brought him into contact with the Oxventurers, with whom he shares in many bizarre adventures, including one that did indeed see him reuniting at last with his long-lost sister!

    Dob is a Support and Gold Find Champion, increasing the damage of Champions not next to him while boosting gold find based on how many Champions are adjacent. He has the unfortunate habit of dumping all that hard-found gold into a nearby lake to keep it safe, but he'll make sure to make it up to the formation!     Year Five Variants

    • Half-Orc's Charm - Dob starts in the formation, and can't be moved or removed. Champions next to Dob deal no damage.
    • Complete Area 75.

    • Making Friends - Dob starts in the formation, and can be moved but not removed. Only Champions with a Charisma and/or Dexterity of 17+ may be used.
    • Reach Area 125.

    • Skeletons! (on Strike) - Dob starts in the formation, and ce can be moved, but not removed. His Ultimate starts unlocked and its cooldown duration is half as long. Each wave spawns a relentless Striking Skeleton, who is slow, but deal 400% damage. In addition, if they are defeated, they respawn in the same location after 5 seconds.
    • Reach Area 175.

    It's time to challenge your formation skills in these 10 new adventure variants! But don't worry, escorts drawn from our livestream show A Familiar Quest, Champions from previous years, and an updated Vi will be right there to help.

    A Familiar Quest Series Two

    Dungeons & Dragons Idle Champions A Familiar Quest S2 The second series of A Familiar Quest returns to Mondays at 5pm Pacific starting August 15th! In this next round of episodes, LaTia Jacquise takes over the DM seat, with players Emme Montgomery, Michelle Nguyen Bradley, Gabe Hicks, and Eugenio Vargas! The cast will also be joined by additional guest players, like Hope LaVelle as Dottie! New familiars are joining some of the previous familiars, who now have a new look. Make sure you watch the show to see what adventures they will all experience!

    Starting on August 8th you can purchase A Familiar Quest Series Two familiars in Idle Champions, so they can help you in your adventures!     Dungeons & Dragons Idle Champions Grand Tour of the Sword Coast Variants

    Grand Tour of the Sword Coast Adventure Variants

    • Orcs are Wild Variant 3: A Familiar Friend
    • Aid an Orc in taking back control of his tribe with a familiar friend, Moogin the Swarm of Quippers!
      • Only Champions next to Moogin can deal damage with normal attacks. This does not affect Ultimate attacks.
      • Enemies have +4000% health, but take an additional 10% damage each time they take damage
      • Complete area 375.

    • The Sunless Citadel Variant 3: Evergreens with an Evergreen
    • Split the party and follow the trail of goblins with a coniferous companion.
      • Only Evergreen Champions can be used on this adventure.
      • An Evergreen Treant joins the formation. They're so big they take up three spots in your formation and throw giant rocks at the enemies dealing 1 second of BUD damage per hit.
      • Complete area 375.

    • Waterdeep Under Siege Variant 3: In The Beginning
    • Race the Xanathar to the Vault of Dragons with Champions from Year One.
      • Only Event Champions from Year One can be used.
      • Complete area 325.

    • Vault of Dragons Variant 3: Vault of Cuteness
    • Stop the Xanathar from raiding the Vault of Dragons while being overwhelmed by cuteness.
      • Marvel the Imp joins the formation. Champions next to Marvel have their normal attack cooldown increased by 5 seconds due to the cuteness overload.
      • 1-2 adorably cute enemies from The Sketching Hour with 5 armored hit points each join in with each wave. They don't drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress.
      • Complete area 350.

    • A Tale of Two Cities Variant 3: A Tale of Two Years
    • Head south to confront the evil growing there using Champions from Year Two.
      • Only Event Champions from Year Two can be used.
      • Complete area 350.

    • The Dead Three Variant 3: Sneak Attack
    • neak through the streets of Baldur's Gate and survive its seedy underbelly.
      • Pest the Gremishka joins the formation
      • You can't use Champions with the speed role.
      • When you enter a new area, the area requirements are reduced by 5% for each Champion with a Dexterity score of 15 or higher.
      • Complete area 375.

    • The Giant's Bane Tavern Variant 3: Power of Three
    • Enter Icewind Dale with Champions from Year Three.

    • The Everlasting Rime Variant 3: Only Human
    • Continue to Ten-Towns with a human Champion of OUR choice.
      • A random Human Champion is immediately unlocked, added to the formation, and can't be removed.
      • Other Human Champions cannot be used.
      • In each area, enemies move 2% faster and deal 4% more damage
      • Complete area 325.

    • The Witchlight Carnival Variant 3: A Familiar Behind Us
    • Uncover the mysteries of the Witchlight Carnival with your most charismatic Champions.
      • Gale the Miniature Giant Seahorse joins the formation. Champions next to Gale have their normal attack cooldown decreased by 1 second for each familiar assigned to click enemies.
      • Champions' normal attack cooldown is increased by 5 seconds.
      • Only Champions with a Charisma of 16 or higher may be used.
      • Complete area 350.

    • Thieves of the Coven Variant 3: Go Fourth
    • Dive deeper into the mysteries of the Witchlight Carnival with Champions from Year Four.
      • Only Event Champions from Year Four can be used.
      • Complete area 400.


    Update to Vi

    Vi - Vi receives a small buff during our Spring Balance Update, and now we've had a chance to update a few more of her abilities:
    • Vi should always finish her current attack before switching to her "Bored Now" attack (so that Catch and Release has a chance to trigger).
    • When changing areas, Vi's Baubles is destroyed and the bonus gold is immediately collected.
    • The gold bonus of Vi's Bauble remains even if she is benched.

    Familiars
