BW2: Enter the Flungeon 20.0
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Tired of completing the same Flux field over and over for Flux Dust while you wait for the next update? This update is for you! A brand new endless dungeons system in the Flux 20.0! The new way to get Flux Dust! Achieve more rewards and goals in addition to Flux Dust in a more interesting system.

Enter the Flungeon

Behold the Flungeon 20.0 (aka the Flux 20.0 Dungeon)! It features a new endless dungeon system where you collect Flux Dust and other unique currency in a progressively challenging series of fields and puzzles.

Now, let’s talk more about what’s in the Flungeon 20.0…

Dungeon Depths

The Flungeon is an Endless Dungeon: a series of small areas, or 'depths', where you solve puzzles until you reach the bottom of the 'tier'. There, you earn a reward and return to the entrance. From there you can enter again, but this time you must go deeper! The deeper you go, the more costly the bush whacking becomes.

Upon completing the puzzle at a given depth, a chest is revealed! These Depth Chest rewards are comparable in value to similar drops in Quester's Satchels, but scale with your level.

And for those who found the 144 piece Flux puzzles hard to see due to how small the pieces are, the Flungeon puzzles are only 100 pieces!

Reward Paths

After opening the chest at a given depth, 3 paths are revealed. Each path indicates the reward you’ll get in the next depth chest if you go that direction. These paths let you pursue your own goals, be they accumulating Gold, Gems, XP, or more Flux Dust in the form of Flux Flax Seeds! *NEW* You can also find more rare rewards, including Pet DNA & Treats, Mount Feeds & Vouchers, Alchemy Powders & Luck Orbs, Premium Seeds, and Tokens, and more! Boss chests have a better chance of having rarer loot, so you'll typically have better choices for upcoming boss rooms.

One of the paths is always locked! Unlock it using a Flungeon Key for even more rewards, boosting the contents of that path by 50%!

Flungeon Keys can drop from depth chests, so keep an eye out for them on the reward paths. And if you really can’t let an opportunity go to waste, you can buy a limited daily amount of Flungeon Keys for Bush Bucks at the glitch near the gate (more on that below).

Reward paths after opening the chest

Area Effects

For those craving more variety, each depth has a chance to have different effects. These effects might change your bonuses, add special bushes, or even replace the bush field with a puzzle to solve, like Sudoku or Slide Puzzles!

The Fountain Depth

Starting at depth 6, a special fountain zone might appear instead of a field or puzzle zone. Here you'll find a fountain to restore a portion of your energy, mana, and power, as well as a fishing spot, and a curious dungeon dweller. After visiting the fountain zone, you won't see it again for at least another 15 depths, so savour the visit!

*New* The Flungeon Terminus

At the end of every tier you complete in the Flungeon, you will arrive at the Terminus. This is a unique room that reflects your progression through the Flungeon. Here you can turn in trophies, fish, and unlock things based on your highest tier unlocked.

You can also visit the Flungeon Terminus on demand by paying 1 Flungeon Key at the Glitch near the door in the Flux 20.0.

The Dungeon Area Bar

While in a dungeon, a special UI piece will show under your XP and Power bars on the top left. This has several pieces to it: The progress bar tells you what tier of the dungeon you're on (Tier X) and how far through that tier you are (Y/Z) Clicking the door button will open the Dungeon Area Dialog, where you can view your progress through that tier of the dungeon, the difficulty at your current depth, and view a summary of the loot you've found in dungeon chests so far. Icons below the progress bar indicate effects in that depth of the dungeon, like energy and mana cost increases, whacking effects, and/or special effects like unique bushes or puzzles.

The dungeon area bar, which shown while you’re in a dungeon area

Boss Bushes

Every 5 levels is a massive bush you must cut down! These are Boss Bushes. These fearsome foes will be revealed once you solve the puzzle. Once they reveal themselves, you'll have to cut them down with many whacks. Different whacks have different properties against these burly bushes: Quick Whacks can deal up to 6 hits, storing a loot per hit, sometimes dropping one loot Mana Whacks deal up 6 hits but only stores or drops one loot Power Whacks deal hits equal to the power consumed! Loot multiplying effects still apply! This is the fastest way to cut down these stalwart shrubs Upon defeat, all stored loot gushes out from the stump of the boss bush. Loot can occasionally drop on a hit as well.

Tier Completion

After completing the last depth of a tier, an exit symbol will appear on the ground. Clicking it will pop up the "Tier Complete!" dialog, detailing what you earn from depth chests in that tier, and taking you back to the dungeon entrance.

The completion popup for a run of Tier 1 in the Flungeon 20.0

Rebooting the Dungeon

Rrrrreboot! Since the costs to whack bushes (manual whack, quick whack, and mana whack) increase with each depth and tier, you will inevitably reach a point where you cannot afford to whack in the dungeon! This, or sometime before this preferably, is when you would reboot the dungeon. Rebooting is part of how you progress deeper into the dungeon and earn special rewards!

When you reboot: You earn Flungeon 20.0 Data, based on how many depths you completed since your last reboot of the dungeon. Flungeon 20.0 Data helps you make sense of the dungeon, reducing how much the cost to whack increases throughout the dungeon. The reduction per Flungeon 20.0 Data does not scale 1:1. As you accrue more data, each data makes less and less of reduction. This gradual tapering of data potency is part of what makes the endless dungeon endless. You can earn Glitch Nexus Cores, but only once for each tier you've completed. The amount you earn per tier is relative to the cumulative number of depths required to complete that tier. For instance, if you completed Tier 1 this reboot, you'll earn 3 Glitch Nexus Cores. The next time you reboot, you cannot earn Glitch Nexus Cores for completing Tier 1. Instead, you'll have to complete higher tiers to earn more, but will earn more for these higher tiers.

Why not always reboot after the first tier, you might ask? Because the tier rewards get better the higher your tier! Plus, as you reboot, the bush whacking costs will level out at the lower levels, letting you reach the higher tiers for no additional whacking cost anyways. This is all aside from earning the currency and achievements associated with reaching the higher tiers!

The Dungeon Rebooted dialog, after having rebooted at Tier 4, claiming tiers 3 and 4 for the first time

Community Goals

After completing tier 1, you’ll notice a glitch outside the dungeon gate in Flux 20.0. Clicking this glitch gives you access to the Flungeon Franchise store, the Flungeon Key Kiosk, and also a list of community achievements!

What kind of achievements? It tracks the first player to complete each tier! Not only is that player’s name recorded for all to see, but by completing that tier for the first time, they unlock a Flungeon Key reward for everyone in the community! Each player can claim any unlocked keys at the glitch outside the dungeon gate in Flux 20.0.

A Delver’s Quest

Once you open the Flungeon 20.0, you’ll start a quest. This quest will help guide you through the process of delving into an endless dungeon. So heed its guidance, and earn its rewards!

Plus, there are 17 achievements related to your progress through the Flungeon 20.0!

Beyond the Flungeon 20.0

Our plan is to add unique Flungeons for each of the future Fluxes. So there will be a Flungeon 21.0 with the next major content region. You’ll earn the same rewards, but it will be in a fresh dungeon. This has the advantage of letting you claim those easier early rewards, in case you’re struggling with the later ones of the past dungeon.

And if this format is popular, we might add different dungeons throughout Bushwhackia. These dungeons could be hidden or in plain sight, and have distinct rewards and quests. Perhaps there’d be an Alchemy Dungeon, where the rewards are different Powder Vials and Rune Recipes! Your thoughts on these sorts of ideas are encouraged.

And that’s the jist of it! As always, please post your questions and feedback on the forum thread.

If you encounter any bugs, alert the developer pronto with a support ticket or email bw2support@codenameentertainment.com!

FAQ

Q: How long does the Cost Reduction last?
  • If you're Boosting the reduction, it only lasts until you complete that tier of the dungeon (which can be a while in the later tiers).

  • The reduction you get from data after Rebooting lasts for that specific dungeon forever.
Q: The armored/boss bushes aren't working!
Try walking out of the field then back into it. If it persists, alert the developer with a support ticket or email bw2support@codenameentertainment.com!

Q: The Dungeon Area and Enter Dungeon pop-ups say I can reduce the whacking costs using Delver's Data. What is it?
Delver's Data is a premium item included in the Flungeon Starter Pack. If you don't have any Delver's Data, you can reduce the cost using Bush Bucks instead.
Q: Is Delver's Data the same as Flungeon Data?
No. Flungeon Data is gained only by rebooting the dungeon, and cannot be spent. Whereas Delver's Data is a premium item you can spend to temporarily reduce a dungeon's whacking costs, lasting until you complete the current tier or reboot it.
Q: Special Bushes are annoying, particularly since they don't spawn right away so I can't plan the right whack!
The Flungeon Franchise store has a trinket that can help with this: The Spawn Frequency Tuner! This trinket causes bushes to spawn immediately after whacking them, letting you plan out each whack in advance.
Q: Where is the Glitchkeeper?
The Glitchkeeper is in the Fountain Depth, left of the pool. The Fountain Depth has a chance to appear after depth 5.
Q: Does the amount on the locked path sign include the +50%?
Correct! For instance, the base amount of Flungeon Keys is 2 Keys, 50% of 2 is 1, so 2 + 1 = 3 keys, which is what you'd see on the gold/locked path sign.

Updates

The May 18th, 2022 update included a slew of improvements to the Flungeon 20.0! Read the Change Log.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Blooshi I
Posted in Idle Champions.

Death is not the end of adventure for everyone. Some Champions have a strong enough spirit that they will continue to fight!

Blooshi is the latest Evergreen Champion, joining our roster from the Wild Beyond the Witchlight!

I. Blooshi I

Blooshi has always been different than the other Bullywugs. She never had others who understood her, but after she picked up a strange skull, she finally found someone who does. Thanks to that skull, Blooshi formed a warlock pact with an undead entity! Now whenever she dies she comes back as a much tougher ghost, smashing her assailants before being sucked back into her body and returning to life. She's pretty pleased, as it's very useful and goes with her whole dark vibe. Surely there will be no repercussions!

Blooshi is a Support and Tank Champion who hails from the Soggy Court in Prismeer. She enjoys taunting her enemies, and when she becomes overwhelmed relies on the power of her undead patron to return as a spirit and a formidable tank. Starting on March 23rd, 2022 you can unlock Blooshi by first completing The Fairy Rings of Thither adventure in the Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign, and then completing that adventure variant Bully For You! Once unlocked you can add her to your formation by swapping her out with Celeste (Slot 2).

II. Blooshi's Stats

Race: Bullywug Alignment: Neutral Evil
Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 11.5 Class: Warlock

STR: 10 DEX: 14 CON: 16
INT: 13 WIS: 8 CHA: 18

Role: Tanking, Support

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Vajra, Strahd, Zariel

Slot: 2 (Celeste)

Dungeons & Dragons Blooshi Key Art

III. Blooshi's Design

Inspired by the Wild Beyond The Witchlight Bullywugs and a Champion that would pair well with Ulkoria, the design team set to work crafting a magic tank with a focus on souls! Blooshi is a Soul Gatherer, collecting the souls of any enemies killed, and gaining power the larger her Soul Stack becomes. Champions in the two columns behind her get a damage increase depending on how many Soul Stacks she has gained. Taking a protective position in front of her companions, Blooshi's regular attack is a Taunting Blast using her eldritch magic, and if the enemy survives they prioritize attacking her in retaliation.

But Blooshi is a bit squishier than a normal tank, and tends to die. A lot. Fortunately death is not the end for Blooshi! Her Spirit Carries On after she falls, and as a Spirit continuing to buff her allies and attack as normal, plus gaining the health needed to keep tanking! While in Spirit form she will remember A Life Well Lived and boosts the Soul Gatherer damage depending on how many bosses she made it through alive. Being in Spirit form is certainly A Grave Situation so she increases how many Soul Stacks she can have, and adds even more to her stack when a boss is killed. As a Spirit Blooshi is extra protective of her companions, and she'll increase the max health of all other Champions, telling them Don't Croak!

Blooshi has two Specializations. The first affects how many souls she can collect as a Soul Gatherer, choosing to gain twice the number of Soul Stacks generated for Sliced Souls, Skewered Souls, or Charred Souls. The second Specialization affects her Spirit form, either making her a more Resilient Spirit by taking less damage, or a Wild Spirit and increasing how many Soul Stacks she gains thanks to A Grave Situation. When things have become too dire, Blooshi will use her Ultimate Attack to summon a Spirit Charge, causing Bullywug spirits to fly across the battlefield grabbing enemies as they go! Each enemy is tossed away from the formation, and take a hard fall filled with damage as they land.

IV. Blooshi's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Taunting Blast — Blooshi attacks the closest untaunted enemy with an eldritch blast magic attack that causes one hit. If the enemy survives, it is taunted. A taunted enemy prioritizes attacks against Blooshi if possible; melee characters will move towards her and attack her if she's in the front, ranged/magic will shoot at her. If all enemies are currently taunted, she attacks a random enemy instead.

Formation Abilities

  • Soul Gatherer — Whenever an enemy dies, Blooshi gains 1 Soul Stack from normal enemies and 15 Soul Stacks from Boss enemies. Blooshi increases the damage of Champions in the two columns behind her by 1% for each Soul Stack, stacking additively. When changing areas, she loses 20% of her Soul Stacks. Soul Stacks cap at 10,000 in her non-spirit form.
  • Spirit Carries On — When Blooshi dies, she is replaced in the formation with her Spirit. The following rules apply to Blooshi's Spirit:
    • The Spirit still buffs the formation with all of Blooshi's normal formation abilities and buffs.
    • The Spirit continues to attack and can be attacked like normal. She can be "killed", at which point she stops granting all effects like any dead Champion would.
    • Blooshi's Spirit counts as "dead" for the purposes of effects that are triggered by dead Champions, but "alive" for all other purposes.
    • Blooshi does not fully "resurrect" when changing areas like a normal Champion would. If her Spirit is killed, then her Spirit will reappear at full health upon changing areas.
    • In adventure with perma-death, Blooshi doesn't count as actually dead until her Spirit is killed.
    • Whenever you collect a boss loot bag, her "next of kin" returns to the formation, and the number after her name will increase by one. The roman numeral is reset at the end of the adventure.
    • While in Spirit form, her health is increased by 125 and her overwhelm is increased by 20.
  • A Life Well Lived — While Blooshi is in Spirit form, Soul Gatherer's damage boost gets a +10% increase, stacking multiplicatively, for each boss level that Blooshi had made it through alive during this adventure.
  • A Grave Situation — While Blooshi is in Spirit form her base Soul Stack cap is increased to 100,000. Enemy attacks against her increase her current Soul Stacks by 1% and boss attacks increases her current Soul Stacks by 15%
  • Don't Croak! — Increase the max health of all other Champions by 25% of Blooshi's Spirit Carries On health bonus.

Specializations

Blooshi's first specialization affects how many souls are generated for Soul Gatherer:

Idle Champions: Festival of Fools 5
Posted in Idle Champions.

How far would you go to celebrate foolishness?

Festival of Fools is a time-honored tradition in Sword Coast communities. Townsfolk engage in the usual gluttonous consumption of food and drink during the festivities, but they also play pranks on each other.

Unfortunately, one prankster has decided to play a practical joke on a Frost Giant nearby...

Festival of Fools 5 introduces Tatyana, the Air Genasi Barbarian Druid played by Becca Scott on The Black Dice Society. Festival of Fools also brings back Alyndra Sarrbarand, Divination Wizard and Cleric of Oghma and Briv Steelmarrow, Half-Orc Paladin (Oath of Heroism). Players have until Monday, March 21st at 12 PM Pacific to complete their Festival of Fools 5 unlocks and objectives.

I. Tatyana

Dungeons & Dragons Tatyana Key Art
This toweringly tall air-genasi barbarian earned her skills and power in the gladiatorial fighting pits of Koshmarr. Tatyana augmented her rage with the might of the bear totem, and the spirits of the mist connected her to the natural druidic world through the power of the moon. Her fearsome and deadly battle prowess is tempered by a respect for anyone who would return that respect. She is curious and bold, and while she's quick to jump into battle she's just as swift with her forgiveness.

Tatyana is a Tanking, Support, and Speed Champion who is faithful and protective of her friends and allies. When you want to add her to your formation you can swap her with Delina in slot 8.

II. Tatyana's Stats

Dungeons & Dragons Tatyana

III. Tatyana's Design

Most of the Idle Champions community will recognize Becca Scott from her work on The Black Dice Society, Geek & Sundry, Dimension 20, and many other TTRPG shows and streams. But her work also includes a huge library of content as an actor, host, interviewer, podcaster, voice-over artist, and streamer! Plus she is the co-founder of the channel and production company Good Time Society.

The core of Tatyana's design focuses on how she channels her Fury and Rage into keeping her friends safe. She'll become a Faithful Friend to a random slot in the middle of the formation, encouraging that Champion to do more damage. As she tanks incoming attacks her Rising Fury will grow, gaining stacks of Fury that increase the effect of Faithful Friend. Eventually her Fury turns to Rage, and with bulging muscles and nasty claws she'll stop attacking with her Twin Kukri Strike and instead rely on her Primal Savagery to bite and claw at enemies! When there aren't enemies around to fight, she'll become distracted, heading off to Find a Feast and causing a few enemies to spawn and follow her back to her companions.

For more information on Tatyana and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

Year Five Variants

  • Adventure Variant 1: I'm HUNGRY! — Tatyana starts in the formation. She can't be moved or removed from the formation. Quest requirements are doubled. Enemies spawned by Tatyana's Find a Feast ability count for 5x quest progress. Tatyana's Find a Feast ability starts out unlocked.
    Complete Area 75.
  • Getting to know Tatyana: When Tatyana hasn't been attacked in a while, she'll run off screen to find snacks (and more enemies to fight).

  • Adventure Variant 2: Exclusive Friend Club — Tatyana starts in the formation. She can't be moved or removed from the formation. In area 51 and beyond, only Tatyana and the Champions affected by Tatyana's Faithful Friend can deal damage.
    Complete Area 125.
  • Getting to know Tatyana: Tatyana buffs a random slot with her Faithful Friend ability. Use her specializations to increase the number of slots affected.

  • Adventure Variant 3: Tanks a Lot! — Every 5 seconds, each Champion takes damage which increases the further you get in the adventure.
    Complete Area 175.
  • Getting to know Tatyana: Tanks like Tatyana often protect your Champions by granting additional health. Include them to offset the constant damage!

New DLC

Dungeons & Dragons Shadowfell Tatyana

Also launching with Tatyana is the Shadowfell Tatyana Theme Pack! This pack includes an unlock for Tatyana, the new Shadowfell Tatyana Skin, the Twinkle, the Faerie Dragon familiar, Tatyana's Epic Entertainer Feat, which increases Tatyana's Charisma Score by +2, 1 Epic Potion of the Gold Hunter, and 16 Gold Tatyana Chests with 2 Guaranteed Shiny Equipment Cards.

For information on previous years' variants, check out the Festival of Fools 4 blog. And if you have feedback, let us know in a Community Q&A or Champion feedback post on the Idle Champions Subreddit, on the Steam forums, or on the Official Idle Champions Discord!

Idle Champion Spotlight: Tatyana
Posted in Idle Champions.

Some see this giant blue warrior as a bit of an 'air-head' but those who know her best recognize that this lightness comes from a deep knowledge that the current moment is all we have, and death may lurk around any corner!

Tatyana is a fierce guardian of her friends from the Black Dice Society, and will bring both her barbarian rage and druidic magic to bear on anyone who threatens them! She joins the Idle Champions roster during Festival of Fools 5.

Eventually her Fury turns to Rage, and with bulging muscles and nasty claws she'll stop attacking with her Twin Kukri Strike and instead rely on her Primal Savagery to bite and claw at enemies! This epic transformation also inspires her Faithful Friend to do even more damage. Since Tatyana is always a Loyal Protector she'll increase the health of all other Champions by 25% of her max health. But when there aren't enemies around to fight, she'll become distracted, heading off to Find a Feast and causing a few enemies to spawn and follow her back to her companions.

Tatyana's Specializations offer unique ways to modify the slots affected by Faithful Friends. If Your Friends Are My Friends then it will also affect Champions in slots adjacent to the Faithful Friend slot, and By My Side lets all Champions in the same column as the Faithful Friend slot gain the bonus. But if Tatyana just wants to help her Best Friend Forever then her buff will continue to only affect one slot, but the effect will increase by 400%! Finally Tatyana's Ultimate Attack taps into her druidic abilities as she summons a gnarly stripe of roots to Entangle enemies right in front of the formation! The roots do damage to all enemies inside it, as well as any enemy who enters the stripe while it's still active.

IV. Tatyana's Abilities

Basic Attack

Tatyana has two attacks, and which she does depends on how many Fury stacks she has.
  • Twin Kukri Strike — While she has 0-50 Fury stacks, Tatyana strikes at the closest enemy with two Kukri strikes, one Kukri in each hand, for two hits.
  • Primal Savagery — While she has more than 50 Fury stacks, Tatyana strikes at the closest enemy with a bite and two clawed swings for three hits.

Formation Abilities

  • Faithful Friend — A random slot from the middle columns of the formation is chosen. Tatyana increases the damage of the Champion in that slot by 100%. Tatyana gains the benefit of this if she happens to be in that slot.
  • Rising Fury — Each time Tatyana is attacked, she gains one Fury stack. The effect of Faithful Friend is increased by +100% for each Fury stack, stacking additively and then applying multiplicatively. She loses 10% of her Fury stacks every 15 seconds that she is not attacked.
  • Rage — When Tatyana reaches 50+ Fury stacks, and for every 15 seconds she's above 50+ Fury stacks, she gets a Rage stack, up to 6. With at least 1 Rage stack, she rages and her base attack changes. For each Rage stack, Faithful Friend gets a 400% bonus, stacking multiplicatively. If she goes below 50 Fury stacks, she loses all Rage stacks.
  • Find a Feast — If Tatyana is not attacked for 15 seconds, and the formation is in non-boss area with no barriers, she briefly runs ahead off the right side of the screen. She returns 2 seconds later from the right side with 2-3 additional enemies that simultaneously spawn. After she returns, the 15 seconds counter starts again from 0 seconds.
  • Loyal Protector — Tatyana increases the health of all other Champions by 25% of her max health.

Specializations

  • Your Friends are My Friends — Tatyana's Faithful Friend now affects all Champions in slots adjacent to the Faithful Friend slot, and the effect is increased by 100%.
  • By My Side — Tatyana's Faithful Friend now affects all Champions in the column containing the Faithful Friend slot, and the effect is increased by 200%.
  • Best Friend Forever — Tatyana's Faithful Friend continues to only affect one slot, however the effect is increased by 400%.

Ultimate Ability

  • Entangle — A stripe of entangling roots appears to the right of the front column, dealing damage to all enemies inside it, and all enemies that enter it during its duration. Enemies standing in the stripe deal 50% less damage. The stripe lasts for 30 seconds.

COTLI: Hermit's Premature Party 7!

Hermit is always extra excited at this time of year, though this year even he is surprised at how quickly it came!

As St. Patrick's Day approaches, the Washed-Up Hermit triples his efforts to provide the latest Premature Party, drawing the attention of a being ancient and wise. Inviting himself to this year's soiree is Farmer Brown!

It's time for Hermit's Premature Party 7!

New Tier 7 Crusader: Farmer Brown

Tags: Event, Male, Human, Flora, Support, Gold, Magical, Angel

Farmer Brown was a very fine farmer. He watched over his fields, tending them with attentiveness, rotating fields every few years, rotating the crops in those fields, even reading them bedtime stories over the PA system. His vegetables were known as the best and biggest in the area and though other farmers asked for his secrets, they just couldn't implement them as well as he did.

That might have been because of the other secret to his success: magic!

Though one day, tragedy struck and Farmer Brown lost control of his combine, leading to an unfortunate accident. Thankfully, his beloved crops merged with his body and resurrected him. Though his community was a little wary around him now.

When you come across him in your travels and offer him the chance to join your motley crew, he accepts!

You can find Farmer Brown in seat 35 on the bench.
