Idle Champion Spotlight: BBEG
Posted in Idle Champions.

Behold the evil architect behind everything! The horrific lich surrounded by zombies who has been responsible for all the terrible things that The Awful Ones have...

...no, not familiar? Never seen him before? Then it's time for you to witness, and maybe this time remember, the Big Bad Evil Guy!

I. BBEG

BBEG is the Big Bad Evil Guy, a Drow necromancer who believes immaculate planning will always lead to success. Unfortunately his constant failures contradict this conviction. BBEG likes to monologue and taunt his opponents, leaving his summoned zombies to engage directly in combat.

BBEG is a support and speed Champion that chews the scenery so much he breaks through the 4th wall. As the Big Bad Evil Guy of the Awful Ones campaign, this necromancer stands back and lets his less intelligent zombie minions do the hard work. His strength lies in being able to railroad the Champions through to more exciting parts of the adventure. Once unlocked, you can find this Drow necromancer in Slot 3 opposite Nayeli.

II. BBEG's Stats

Race: Elf (Drow) Alignment: Lawful Evil
Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 500
Affiliation: None (but Awful Ones adjacent) Class: Wizard

STR: 10 DEX: 13 CON: 8
INT: 18 WIS: 15 CHA: 12

Role: Support, Speed

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Strahd

Slot: 3 (Nayeli)

III. BBEG's Design

Every Dungeon Master wants to craft a story that is entertaining and engaging. But what happens when your players stop paying attention? Pat, the DM of the Awful Ones from 1 For All, is understandably frustrated by this lack of recognition. Despite his best efforts crafting an extremely powerful and memorable antagonist for his campaign, no one seems to recall who BBEG is, or be challenged by him in any battle.

As the sworn enemy of the Awful Ones, BBEG will follow them into any adventure that any of them are eligible for. He uses his Chill Touch to strike at the most healthy enemy on the field, and summons shambling zombies to attack anything they come across. The Awful Ones provide a great source of fresh corpses for his undead army, so the more of them there are in the formation, the faster he can summon his minions. BBEG, believing himself to be the smartest, strategically surrounds himself with less intelligent minions to boost his own perceived brilliance as the Evil Overlord, increasing the damage of Champions with an Intelligence of 12 or less.

BBEG wants to get the adventure over with as quickly as possible, so he'll increase his damage bonus for each potion that is active, and reduce the next area's quest requirements if the formation plows through the current area quickly enough. His Specializations will further boost that damage buff depending on the types of companions he is surrounded by. Fill the formation with Evil Champions and pick Powergaming, or Champions with a total ability score of 78 or less to choose Min-Maxing, or use a bunch of Lawful Champions and pick Rules Lawyering. If that still isn't fast enough, he will appeal to his eldritch lord Balgronuuth for the ultimate power to summon two zombies at a time instead of just one!

Show the other Champions just how epic and incredible BBEG can be, and maybe they'll remember him the next time he joins the formation!

IV. BBEG's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Chill Touch - BBEG conjures a spectral hand over the enemy with the most health and touches it, dealing one hit.

Passive Abilities

  • Awful Nemesis - As the sworn enemy of the Awful Ones, BBEG is eligible for any adventure that any of them are eligible for. However, they still don't remember who he is.

Formation Abilities

  • Evil Overlord - BBEG increases the damage of all Champions with an Intelligence of 12 or less by +100%.
  • Homebrew - BBEG increases the damage bonus of Evil Overlord by 100% for each active potion, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Rise, My Minions! - Every 10 seconds BBEG creates a plodding zombie that appears in front of the front-most column and slowly moves across the screen from left to right. It takes 30 seconds for a zombie to plod from its spawn point to the right-side of the screen where it despawns. Zombies persist with area changes. Enemies near the zombie take 0.2 second worth of BUD-based damage per second.
  • Sources of Corpses - The time it takes for Rise, my Minions! to summon a zombie is reduced by 2.5 seconds for each Awful Ones affiliation member in the formation, and the damage bonus of Evil Overlord is increased by +100% for each summoned zombie, stacking multiplicatively, with buffs applying to the pre-stack value.
  • Railroad - If the current area is completed (for the first time) in 5 seconds or less, BBEG reduces the next area's quest requirements by 25%.

Specializations

  • Powergaming - BBEG increases the damage bonus of Evil Overlord by +200% for each Evil champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Min-Maxing - BBEG increases the damage bonus of Evil Overlord by +150% for each Champion with a total ability score of 78 or less in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Rules Lawyering - BBEG increases the damage bonus of Evil Overlord by +100% for each Lawful champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • Balgronuuth's Undead Horde - Balgronuuth's symbol appears in the air for 30 seconds. While the symbol is in the air, every time Rise, my Minions! summons a zombie, it summons two instead of one.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Evandra
Posted in Idle Champions.

"Swords and metal can settle scores!"

Evandra is always ready to charge into a fight for treasure, glory, or simply because she's feeling a bit bored. Because why waste time talking or throwing spells around when you’ve got a trusty sword?

I. Evandra

Rough and tumble, and ready for action, Half-Elven Fighter Evandra brings the muscle. Evandra ran away from home when her father discovered that she had been training in strength and combat. He tried to force her into an arranged marriage with an elven nobleman, but Evandra rejected this on both principle and taste. She decided instead to become an adventurer, free from her father’s judgment.

Evandra is a Support, Tanking, and Gold Find Champion who's always willing to lend a hand as long as a fight is involved. She empowers all neutral champions, and brings the Awful Ones together, especially if the Witchlight Carnival is involved. Once unlocked, you can find this Half-Elf Fighter in Slot 5 opposite Calliope.

II. Evandra's Stats

Race: Half-Elf Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 27
Affiliation: Awful Ones Class: Fighter

STR: 17 DEX: 12 CON: 16
INT: 12 WIS: 9 CHA: 11

Role: Support, Tanking, Gold Find

Eligible for Patrons: Vajra

Slot: 5 (Calliope)

III. Evandra's Design

Evandra is the tank of the Awful Ones from 1 For All, leading the way into whatever dangers they might encounter. She increases the damage of all Neutral Champions on the good/evil axis with her Freedom's Fury, and buffs everyone's health as well as any healing effects they receive thanks to her Inspiring Fortitude. Fighting is hard work and deserves compensation, so she's always trying to Find the Secret Stash by increasing the formation's gold find.

If Evandra is horribly wounded in battle, you’ll find that she’s Never Completely ‘Armless. If her health is ever brought to zero she will sacrifice her own arm in order to survive and get back into the battle with whatever weapon she can wield. Sometimes that's her Trusty Sword, but she'll make do with whatever arms are available. When she’s in big trouble, Evandra can use her Ultimate attack to “disarm” a nearby mechanical menace and strike her enemies with Improvised Arms. While wielding this automaton’s arm, Evandra increases her attack rate and greatly increases her damage.

The damage bonus her Freedom's Fury provides is increased depending on what other Champions join her formation. Her Specializations let you choose between Powerful Allies, which raises the bonus for each female or nonbinary Champion in the formation, Fighting Force that increases it for each fighter, barbarian, ranger, or paladin, and Carnival Crew for each Champion with a total ability score of 78 or less. Since Evandra is such a huge fan of the Witchlight Carnival, she's eligible for all Wild Beyond the Witchlight adventures and variants no matter the restrictions. And she'll extend that ability to her fellow Awful Ones if the Carnival Crew Specialization is chosen.

Evandra's strength and confidence are great additions to the formation, even as she charges into battle head-first and full of bravado!

IV. Evandra's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Trusty Sword - Evandra moves up next to the closest enemy and swings her sword, dealing 1 hit to all nearby enemies.

Passive Abilities

  • Evandra, the Magnificent - Evandra can be used in any Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign adventure or variant, even if she would not normally be available to be used due to variant or patron restrictions.

Formation Abilities

  • Freedom's Fury - Evandra increases the damage of all Neutral Champions (on the Good/Evil axis) by 100%.
  • Find the Secret Stash - Increase the formation's gold find by 100%. Every time a Champion attacks but does not defeat an enemy, increase this bonus by 50%, stacking additively up to 120 times and applying multiplicatively. Bonus resets when an enemy is defeated.
  • Inspiring Fortitude - Evandra increases the health of all other Champions by 25% of her max health, and any healing effect on those Champions is increased by 25%.

Specializations

  • Powerful Allies - Evandra increases the damage bonus of Freedom's Fury by +100% for each female or nonbinary Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Fighting Force - Evandra increases the damage bonus of Freedom's Fury by +125% for each fighter, barbarian, ranger, or paladin in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Carnival Crew - Evandra increases the damage bonus of Freedom's Fury by +150% for each Champion with a total ability score of 78 or less in the formation, stacking multiplicatively. In addition, all Awful Ones Champions are available to be used if Wild Beyond the Witchlight is the current campaign, even if they do not currently qualify based on variant or patron restrictions.

Ultimate Ability

  • Improvised Arms - A mechanical guard spawns on the right side and quickly moves to the middle of the enemy's side of the screen. Evandra moves up, attacks the guard, and instantly "disarms" it and defeats it. Then Evandra uses the guard's arm as a weapon for the next 15 seconds instead of her sword. For the duration, Evandra's attack deals an additional 3 seconds of BUD damage, her normal attack speed cooldown is faster by 2 seconds, and Freedom's Fury is increased by 100% for the duration.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Nixie
Posted in Idle Champions.

"If the trees are thin, let the flames begin, if the trees are tight, do not ignite."

Some folks never bother to ask how big the room is; they're always ready for a fireball. And Nixie is the quintessential firecracker, able to light up a room with her bright smile and her flaming hot spells!

I. Nixie

Nixie is a charismatic tiefling who grew up in a wealthy but oppressive household, and punished for using magic despite her natural talent. In a rebellious move, she stole the family grimoire to teach herself dark sorcery only to result in the burning down of her family manor and all her family inside. Despite this tragedy, Nixie is now on a journey to enjoy her newfound magical freedom and find a new family.

Nixie is a DPS and Support Champion who gives charismatic Champions like herself a big boost. When force is required, she casts Fireball, and when stealth is required...she casts Fireball. But her magic isn't perfect as she inadvertently triggers the occasional wild magic surge. Once unlocked, you can find this Tiefling Sorcerer in Slot 1 opposite Bruenor.

II. Nixie's Stats

Race: Tiefling Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 19
Affiliation: Awful Ones Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)

STR: 8 DEX: 14 CON: 17

Slot: 1 (Bruenor)

Dungeons & Dragons Nixie Marketing Gif

III. Nixie's Design

When 1 For All crafted characters for their fantasy comedy web series, they leaned into some of the beloved tropes that can be found in many D&D PCs. The joy of casting a fireball never grows old, and it can be fun to create a chaotic character who crafts flames with unbridled enthusiasm!

Nixie is sparkly, cute, and uncontrollably deadly! She delights in jumping into the throes of battle casting fireballs, despite it possibly harming her own team members. With her Blazing Charisma she gleefully increases the damage of other charismatic Champions, but every spell cast is a chance to cause a random Wild Magic Surge. Some surges cause a bonus effect on the battlefield, like engulfing enemies in flames, creating a coin cascade, summoning a random monster, causing a stunning shockwave, or enlarging both her size and her damage! But sometimes she'll turn into a potted plant, or her skin will turn blue. That's the risks that come with being a Wild Magic Sorcerer.

Despite the unpredictability of her magic, Nixie is always ready to launch a flaming attack on her enemies. Normally it's a smaller Fireball?. But occasionally it's time for a FIREBALL!!! This ultimate, gigantic fireball engulfs all enemies on the field, burning them to a crisp. Those flaming spheres can cause even more damage depending on which Specialization Nixie chooses. Each one boosts the damage bonus of Blazing Charisma based on who else is in the formation. Infernal Impact focuses on the number of Tieflings, Anarchy Amplified works with Chaotic Champions, and Flawed Force counts the number of Champions with a total ability score of 78 or less.

Nixie's natural talents bring a chaotic element to the party, and she'll charm you over with her bright smile and even brighter explosions!

IV. Nixie's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Fireball? - Nixie attacks with a ball of fire centered on a random target, dealing 1 hit of damage to all enemies in a small radius.

Formation Abilities

  • Blazing Charisma - Nixie increases the damage of all Champions with a Charisma of 17+ by 100%, including herself.
  • Wild Magic Surge - Each time Nixie makes a normal attack, there is a high chance that a random wild magic event happens.
    • No Effect (20%) — No Effect
    • Engulfing Flames (20%) — Nixie lights the area of her attack on fire for 20 seconds. While lit, it deals 1 second of BUD to enemies in the effect each second.
    • Potted Punch (10%) — Nixie turns into a potted plant for 5 seconds and can't attack, increasing the damage bonus of Blazing Charisma by +100% while in that form, and for 15 additional seconds afterwards.
    • Coin Cascade (10%) — Gold coins also fly out from her attack's explosion, worth 10% of a normal monster kill.
    • Shockwave (10%) — Nixie's attack also sends out a shockwave that stuns Monsters in the attack's area for 5 seconds.
    • Feeling Blue (10%) — Nixie's skin turns blue for 10 seconds. There are no other effects.
    • Eldritch Entourage (10%) — A random monster is summoned.
    • Enlarge (10%) — Nixie's size and damage increases by 100% for 20 seconds.
  • Gigantic Growth - Increase the damage bonus of Wild Magic Surge: Enlarge and Wild Magic Surge: Potted Punch by 100%.

Specializations

  • Infernal Impact - Nixie increases the damage bonus of Blazing Charisma by +200% for each Tiefling champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Flawed Force - Nixie increases the damage bonus of Blazing Charisma by +150% for each Champion with a total ability score of 78 or less in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.
  • Anarchy Amplified - Nixie increases the damage bonus of Blazing Charisma by +100% for each Chaotic champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively and applied multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • FIREBALL!!! - Nixie casts a gigantic fireball that engulfs the entire enemy's side of the screen, dealing 1 ultimate hit to all enemies. In addition, there is a 10% chance for each monster hit by this attack to be surrounded by Engulfing Flames from her Wild Magic Surge ability.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Antrius
Posted in Idle Champions.

"No 'I' in team, but there’s an ‘A’ though, which stands for Antrius!"

With a beautiful voice and a glorious mane of hair, Antrius is always ready to charm everyone around! His swordcraft may be mostly flourish and fancy footwork, but he backs up his friends with inspiring words while viciously mocking his enemies!

I. Antrius

Antrius is your classic fantasy Bard - he’s a lover, not a fighter. His supportive parents paid his way through Bard College, and now Antrius is out on the road trying to make a name for himself with bravado, showmanship, and a seductive smolder.

Antrius is a Support and Healing Champion who empowers his companions with an Inspiring Song. III. Antrius's Design

1 For All is an original fantasy comedy web series, which makes bringing their characters to life in our game a wonderfully unique experience! Antrius is played by Forgeling, who creates the character along with the rest of the folks at Deerstalker Pictures. This means we have a whole team of people to collaborate with to help craft Champions that their fans will love to see!

Antrius is a glorious performer, always focused on making his Inspiring Song bigger and better. Inspiring Song boosts the damage of adjacent Champions while also keeping them safe by providing some temporary hit points. Other Champions with a Charisma of 17 or higher will extend this benefit to more of the formation. The bigger the crowd, the better Antrius performs, so the more Champions affected by Inspiring Song, the bigger the damage bonus and number of temporary hit points it provides. And that damage bonus is further increased for every Feat your Champions have unlocked! His Specializations also focus on buffing Inspiring Song's damage bonus, choosing between the number of Bards, Chaotic Champions, or Champions with low ability scores in your formation.

Providing inspiring battle music isn't the only skill Antrius brings to the formation. With deadly wit he will attack his adversaries with Vicious Mockery. And his looks are just as lethal, using his Ultimate attack to turn a shattered mirror in to a Cloud of Daggers to eviscerate his enemies!

Fill the formation with fans of Antrius and surround him with a crowd of Champions, and Antrius will provide the most epic buffs to inspire your party to victory!

IV. Antrius's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Vicious Mockery - Antrius attacks the enemy with the most health, dealing 1 hit and causing it to take +100% damage until he attacks again.

Formation Abilities

  • Inspiring Song - Antrius inspires each adjacent Champion giving them 10 temporary hit points every 5 seconds and increasing their damage by 100%. Any Champion with a Charisma score of 17 or higher further inspires all unaffected adjacent Champions, and this continues to cascade. Antrius' song is so inspiring that he also inspires himself, granting himself temp hp and the damage bonus. The total shield amount on each Champion is limited to 10 times the Champion's max health.
  • The Hardiest, Bardiest Bard - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's temporary hit point bonus by 100% for each Champion affected by it, stacking additively.
  • Suave and Sophisticated - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's damage bonus by 100% for each Champion affected by it, stacking multiplicatively. Buffs apply to the pre-stack value.
  • Can't be De-Feat-ed - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's damage bonus by 100% for each feat your Champions have unlocked, stacking additively.

Specializations

  • Bard College - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's damage bonus by 200% for each Bard in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Truly Awful Stats - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's damage bonus by 150% for each Champion in the formation with a total ability score of 78 or lower, stacking multiplicatively.
  • The "A" In Chaotic Is For Antrius - Antrius increases Inspiring Song's damage bonus by 100% for each chaotic Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • Cloud of Daggers - Antrius takes a hand mirror out and smiles into it, which causes it to shatter. Shards of glass fly out and create a medium sized cloud that swirls around the location of the enemy with the most health, and deals 1 hit of ultimate damage every 0.5 seconds to all enemies in the area for 10 seconds. The cloud does not move after it has picked a location.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Miria
Posted in Idle Champions.

Few have the cunning and capacity to resist the overwhelming power of Lord Soth. But this ambitious necromancer managed to break free of his trap, and now is relentlessly hunted across Krynn. Miria Elithren knows there are other realms, and with considerable determination and ruthlessness she seeks to escape to the worlds beyond!

I. Miria

Born under an ill-omen of the Dark Moon, Nuitari, Miria had an unhappy childhood that caused her to flee her homeland and seek tutelage in advanced magical arts beyond Elven lands. After passing the Test of High Sorcery, she briefly allied with Lord Soth until he tried to turn Miria into an undead creature subservient to his will. Miria escaped Soth’s trap at the cost of the flesh and muscle of her right arm.

Slot: 12 (Arkhan)

Dungeons & Dragons Miria Marketing Gif

III. Miria's Design

When we bring an affiliation of Champions into our game, it can be difficult to find a way to include the Dungeon Master of that group. Idle Champions Presents: Fury of the Black Rose offered a unique opportunity to work with the fantastic Mark Hulmes as more than the DM for High Rollers. They created a brand new character crafted specifically for both the livestream and the Idle Champions roster, with a unique backstory connected to the game and an interesting power set for the Champion!

Miria is a formidable necromancer with training in advanced magical arts, but she knows supporting the formation with her undead powers is the best way to ensure her own safety. Her training as a Mage of High Sorcery helps her increase the damage of all adjacent Champions, and that bonus is increased for every defeated enemy she captures in her Soul Cage. She helps buff the front-most column of the formation by sending her Zombie Bodyguards up to absorb damage, and will use Life Transference to increase the health of all Champions so they can soak up more damage. If none of these protective measures help keep Miria alive, she has one more contingency in place with a stash of clones that she can draw from to regain her health!

Miria's Specializations determines the type of heroes that she prefers to have in the formation, and will increase the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery for each Champion who fits her requirements. Lawful Champions can be Methodical and she appreciates their predictability. Those that show they have a high intelligence appeal to her Intellectual nature. But she also respects those that are unaffiliated for remaining Independent. When adversaries come close, Miria will fire a Ray of Sickness at the nearest one to weaken them. And when her bodyguards are not enough, she will cast Danse Macabre to summon five skeletons to the battlefield and command them to brutally attack her enemies!

IV. Miria's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Ray of Sickness - Miria fires an energy ray at the nearest enemy, dealing one hit of magical damage and the target's damage is reduced by 50% for 6 seconds. Does not stack.

Formation Abilities

  • Mage of High Sorcery - Miria increases the damage of all adjacent Champions by +100%.
  • Soul Cage - When an enemy is defeated, Miria can capture its soul and gain a Soul Cage stack. Her maximum number of Soul Cage stacks is 1 for every 20 areas completed in the current adventure, rounded up. Miria increases the damage bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Soul Cage stack she has, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Zombie Bodyguards - While Miria is alive, a Zombie Bodyguard that shares hit points with Miria appears in front of each Champion in the front-most column of the formation. When a Champion in that column takes damage, the Zombie Bodyguard takes 90% of the damage instead, while the original target takes the remaining 10%.
  • Clone - Miria maintains a stash of clones in her Inner Sanctum with a count equal to her Soul Cage stacks. If Miria is defeated, a clone immediately appears and takes her place at full health. This does not reduce the number of Soul Cage stacks she has. Her stash of clones are regenerated when the party changes areas. For each clone summoned in the current area, the effect of Mage of High Sorcery is increased by 25%, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Life Transference - Miria increases the health of all other Champions by 1% of her max health for each Soul Cage stack she has, stacking additively.

Specializations

  • Methodical - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Lawful Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Intellectual - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Champion with an INT score of 15+ in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Independent - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Unaffiliated Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • Danse Macabre - Miria summons 5 skeletons to the battlefield. The skeletons deal 15 attacks to the enemies before vanishing. All enemies are slowed by 50% for the duration due to the confusion on the battlefield.

III. Solaak's Design

Our community is already familiar with the wonderful Gabe Hicks thanks to his appearance in Season 2 of A Familiar Quest. They have an extensive resume as a game designer, voice actor, cosplayer, and both player and GM for many livestreams. We were very excited to work together to craft a fully unique character, one that would join the Idle Champions Presents: Fury of the Black Rose cast as well as becoming a Champion in our roster!

The Drakewarden Solaak is a bit different from the usual Champion. Instead of fighting in the formation, Solaak rides his dragon companion Tempest into battle just behind the rest of the Champions. Meanwhile their pet pseudodragon Levits takes his spot in the formation in order to help pass along any positional formation abilities. With his custom-carved longbow in hand, Solaak fires a Knockback Strike at the closest enemy, damaging and pushing them away from the formation.

Their focus is on supporting other ranged Champions. He appreciates those Compatriots who also have a ranged base attack, and gains a Reach stack for each of those Champions in the formation. The bigger the stack, the bigger the damage increase for all ranged Champions! When an enemy is knocked back by any Maneuvers, the damage bonus he grants his Compatriots is increased. For each Reach stack Solaak has, he increases the effect of all outgoing positional formation abilities for all ranged Champions. And the more stacks they have, the greater the chance that ranged Champion base attack cooldowns will instantly reset.

Solaak can specialize in three different ways. If he is Unwavering then he will attack faster and increase the effect of Maneuvers. If they become Emboldened then his attacks will harm a small radius of enemies, and those hit will take additional damage. Or he can be a Confidant and add a Reach stack for each formation slot occupied by an escort. While they usually strike from the back of the formation, when the time for an ultimate attack is right Solaak and Tempest will fly over the battlefield. The drake's lightning breath scours his enemies, sending them flying back stunned!

IV. Solaak's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Knockback Strike - Solaak fires an arrow at the closest enemy, dealing 1 hit and knocking it back a short distance.

Formation Abilities

  • Drakewarden - Solaak's pet pseudodragon Levits takes Solaak's slot in the formation while Solaak rides his drake companion, Tempest, into battle. He attacks from Tempest. If Levits is knocked out by enemies, Solaak and Tempest retreat from the battlefield until you change areas.
  • Compatriots - Solaak gains a Reach stack for each Champion with a ranged base attack in the formation (including himself). Each stack increases the damage of these Champions by 400%, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Maneuvers - The effect of Compatriots is increased by 25% each time an enemy is knocked back, stacking multiplicatively to a max of 50 stacks. Stacks reset when changing areas.
  • Critical Mass - Solaak increases the effect of the outgoing positional formation abilities of all Champions with a ranged base attack by 25% for each Reach stack he has, stacking additively.
  • Blitzing Barrage - Each time a Champion with a ranged base attack attacks, there is a 5% chance per stack of Reach that their base attack cooldown is instantly reset.

Specializations

  • Unwavering - Solaak's base attack speed is reduced by 2.0 seconds. Additionally, the effect of Maneuvers is increased to 30% per stack.
  • Emboldened - Solaak's normal attack deals damage to all enemies in a small radius and all enemies hit take an additional 400% damage for 5 seconds.
  • Confidant - Each formation slot occupied by an escort adds 1 Reach stack for Compatriots.

Ultimate Ability

  • Tempest - Solaak flies over the enemies on Tempest's back while Tempest's lightning breath deal 1 hit of ultimate damage, knocking them back a medium amount and stunning all enemies for 5 seconds.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Brother Uriah
Posted in Idle Champions.

It can be difficult to find faith in the domains of dread, and almost impossible to find a truly good person. Which is why Brother Uriah is absolutely exceptional, and a cherished member of the Black Dice Society! He is the final member of that affiliation to join Idle Champions, and brings his do-good nature to the roster during Grand Revel 6.

I. Brother Uriah

Dungeons & Dragons Uriah Midwinter
Brother Uriah Macawber is a native of Ravenloft, born in the dread domain of Darkon under the iron rule of Azalin Rex. After a horrifying childhood encounter at the Carnival with the demonic entity known as The Caller, Uriah would embrace the worship of the goddess Ezra, Lady of the Mists, offering protection from the forces of darkness to all those in need. Upon joining with the other future members of The Black Dice Society, Uriah would go on to find friendship, true love, and dark truths about himself and his past.

Brother Uriah is a Support and Healing Champion that completes the Black Dice Society affiliation. As a faithful Cleric of Ezra, Brother Uriah heals nearby champions as well as increasing their damage. In stressful situations, he becomes possessed by the spirit of Azalin Rex. While possessed, he increases the damage of Nahara and any Evil champions in the formation. Once unlocked, you can find this human cleric opposite Makos in Slot 9.

II. Brother Uriah's Stats

Race: Human Alignment: Lawful Good
Class: Cleric Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 33
Affiliation: Black Dice Society

STR: 10 DEX: 10 CON: 12
INT: 12 WIS: 22 CHA: 15

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Zariel
Slot: 9 (Makos)

III. Brother Uriah's Design

The Idle Champions community is very familiar with Mark Meer and the excellent work he does as an actor, voice over artist, and TTRPG player in a huge variety of places. He's also helped us bring Baeloth the Entertainer to life in the game as well as several seasons of Idle Champions Presents! But this is the first chance we've had to bring in a Champion he has created wholly himself.

Dungeons & Dragons Fen

Brother Uriah is designed to work well with the Black Dice Society affiliation, featuring multiple positional formation abilities for Valentine, a dead/escort synergy for Desmond, a buff for Nahara and evil champions, and is the first healer for the group. With Doomed in Darkon he increases the damage of Champions in his column and behind, while healing all Champions within two slots of him with Ezra's Embrace. After a while he succumbs to being In The Grip of Azalin Rex, who focuses on increasing the damage of Nahara as well as all evil Champions in the formation.

There are two different books that Brother Uriah can choose from when picking a specialization. The Book of Exalted Deeds encourages the destruction of Undead and Fiends, making them his Favored Foes and buffing all Champion damage against them. But if he chooses the Book of Vile Darkness he'll further increase the damage bonus to Nahara and all evil Champions. Brother Uriah prefers to attack damaged enemies with Toll the Dead, and when a more Ultimate attack is necessary he will create a Blade Barrier that whirls across the screen, slashing at enemies with razor-sharp blades of magical energy!

IV. Brother Uriah's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Toll the Dead - Brother Uriah points at a random enemy and deals one hit of magical damage. Brother Uriah prefers to attack enemies that are already damaged.

Formation Abilities

  • Doomed in Darkon - Brother Uriah increases the damage of all Champions in his column and the column behind him by +100%.
  • Ezra's Embrace - Brother Uriah heals all champions within two slots for 5 health per second. This effect is increased by 25% for each formation slot containing a dead champion or an escort, stacking additively and applying multiplicatively.
  • In the Grip of Azalin Rex - After 100 normal attacks by Champions in the formation, Azalin Rex takes over Brother Uriah for 20 seconds. While controlled by Azalin Rex, Brother Uriah increases the damage of Nahara and all evil Champions by +1000%.

Specializations

  • Book of Exalted Deeds - Brother Uriah reads from the Book of Exalted Deeds, making Undead and Fiends his Favored Foes and all Champions deal +200% damage to them.
  • Book of Vile Darkness - Azalin reads from the Book of Vile Darkness, increasing the effect of In the Grip of Azalin Rex by 100%.

Ultimate Ability

  • Blade Barrier - Brother Uriah creates a wall of whirling, razor-sharp blades of magical energy to appear in front of the formation, quickly slides across the screen, ending close to where enemies are spawned. Each enemy that passes through the barrier (or has the barrier pass over) takes one hit of ultimate damage. The barrier lasts for 10 seconds after it reaches its final location. If an enemy is pushed back through it and/or walks through it a second time they take another hit.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Fen
Posted in Idle Champions.

The mists of Ravenloft are full of stealthy hazards and creeping horrors. But this traveler from the Underdark is just mischievous and dangerous enough to survive!

Fen left her home to protect her family, and arrived in the domains of dread to find a new one. She joins her companions from the Black Dice Society in the Idle Champions roster during Midwinter 6!

I. Fen

Dungeons & Dragons Fen Midwinter
This Drow Dhampir Warlock has a touch of mischief and sneakiness, but she's loyal to those she cares for and a fearsome opponent for those who have earned her hate. Above all else, everything Fen has done has been for Isolde's freedom. Now she needs a new purpose to fight for, and maybe she can find it among the Society.

Fen is a DPS and Support Champion, and is the newest Black Dice Society member to join the formation. In addition to buffing the damage of Champions in her column, this Warlock/Rogue increases the attack speed of all Warlocks in the formation. Finally, she's keen to help you finish any Patron challenges you might still be facing. Once unlocked, you can find this Dhampir Drow in Slot 6 opposite Asharra.

Dungeons & Dragons Fen

III. Fen's Design

It's a rare treat to get the opportunity to work with a creator for several different characters, so we're thrilled to welcome Tanya DePass back to help us craft Fen from the The Black Dice Socity in Idle Champions! Previously we added her paladin Selise from the Rivals of Waterdeep, and she helped create Fenris the Dire Wolf Pup as a charity familiar. Outside of the work she has done with us, Tanya is the founder and Director of I Need Diverse Games, part of the development team behind Into The Mother Lands, and a prolific writer and consultant on a variety of projects.

Fen likes to get the job done as quickly as possible, so she focuses on making warlocks like herself faster and more deadly. She increases the damage of herself and all the Champions in her column because she is Mischievous, but Dangerous. That effect is boosted for fellow wise Champions or those from the Black Dice Society as she says I've Got You, Friends. She helps anyone who has made a Warlock Pact by increasing their attack speed, and her Patron's Oath means patron challenge progress will happen faster.

Depending on which Specialization Fen takes, she will focus on either her DPS or Support abilities. When the whole formation needs help, she'll call on the Shadows of the Underdark to imbue her blade with eldritch energy, increasing the effect of Mischievous, but Dangerous. If Fen embraces the Curse of the Dhampir she'll greatly boost her own damage. With her regular attack she darts out to slash at the closest enemies with her Pact Blade, and her Ultimate attack lets her take on her Form of Dread. Draconic wings sprout from her back and she leaps into the air to charge across the battlefield in a flurry of slashes and knockbacks!

IV. Fen's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Pact Blade - Fen darts out to the closest enemy and slashes with her longsword, dealing 1 hit to all nearby enemies.

Formation Abilities

  • Mischievous, but Dangerous - Fen increases the damage of all Champions, including herself, in her column by 100%.
  • Warlock Pact - Fen reduces the normal attack speed of all Warlocks, including herself, in the formation by 0.1 seconds for each point of Wisdom an adjacent Champion has above 10.
  • I've Got You, Friends - Fen increases the effect of Mischievous, but Dangerous by 100% for each Champion in the formation that is either a Black Dice Society affiliation member or has a Wisdom of 15+, stacking multiplicatively and then applying multiplicatively.
  • Patron's Oath - While Fen is in the formation and you are in a patron variant or free play, patron challenge progress made by her party is increased by 100%.

Specializations

  • Shadows of the Underdark - Fen imbues her blade with eldritch energy, increasing the effect of Mischievous, but Dangerous by 100% and causing her normal attack to deal an additional 5 seconds of BUD based damage with each hit. Buffs of this ability increase the effect of Mischievous, but Dangerous.
  • Curse of the Dhampir - Fen embraces her Dhampir heritage and increases her damage by 1000%.

Ultimate Ability

  • Form of Dread - Fen transforms into her dread form. She sprouts wings, leaps into the air, and charges directly across the screen, dealing one hit of ultimate damage to all enemies she passes and knocking them back a short distance.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Imoen
Posted in Idle Champions.

"So, you ready to go? I'd prefer to travel with you, if I could."

With a lighthearted outlook and a care-free disposition, Imoen has managed to remain cheerful even in the face of deadly enemies and startling revelations. With her thieves tools in one hand and powerful magic in the other, she is ready to deal with any challenge the formation encounters when she joins the Champions during Wintershield!

I. Imoen

Dungeons & Dragons Imoen Key Art
Imoen is a surprisingly cheerful young woman considering she eventually discovered that she was the child of a deadly murder god. As an orphan, she moved to Candlekeep at the age of 10 with her adoptive father and innkeeper, Winthrop. Soon she traveled to Baldur's Gate with a childhood friend, where she joined forces with powerful Champions like Minsc and Jaheria.

Imoen is a Support and Healing Champion who complements her thieving abilities with spells! She boosts her party's damage whenever a Favored Foe is defeated, and while not primarily a spellcaster, she doesn't mind stepping in with an occasional Polymorph or Stoneskin spell. Once unlocked, you can find this Human Rogue/Wizard in Slot 11 opposite Jamilah.

II. Imoen's Stats

Race: Human Alignment: Neutral Good
Class: Rogue/Wizard Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 20 Affiliation: Heroes of Baldur's Gate

STR: 9 DEX: 18 CON: 16
INT: 17 WIS: 11 CHA: 16

Role: Support, Healing
Eligible for Patrons: Mirt, Vajra, and Strahd
Slot: 11 (Jamilah)

Dungeons & Dragons Imoen Gif

III. Imoen's Design

As a recurring character in the Baldur's Gate series of video games, Imoen has proven herself as a valuable party member to join you on your quests. She also appears in several Baldur's Gate novels and even appears on a Magic: the Gathering card! When things are bleak, Imoen will be there with a joke to try and lighten spirits, and is excited to use her unique mixture of roguish and wizarding talents for good uses.

Imoen is focused on supporting the formation against her Favored Foe. She helps keep Optimism high by increasing the damage of adjacent Champions. With Perseverance she'll increase Optimism's damage boost every time any Champion's Favored Foe either appears or is defeated. For monsters that are not on her special list, Imoen can magically Polymorph them into an enemy that is the same type as her Favored Foe. Since the front-most column of the formation takes the brunt of attacks, she'll help them out by casting Stoneskin to give them a temporary hit point boost.

There are four Specializations that Imoen can choose from, making her regular attack do more damage against a specific type of enemy. She can focus on beasts, dragons, monstrosities, or aberrations, making them her Favored Foe and turning her ammo into Slaying Arrows for that specific type of creature. Usually Imoen attacks at range with her Short Bow, but if it's time to get up close and personal with her Ultimate, she'll pull out her short sword and lockpicks to leap into the fray! She'll Disarm Traps and strike multiple times dealing extra damage against hits-based enemies, proving as deadly with thieves' tools as she is with a weapon.

IV. Imoen's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Short Bow - Imoen makes a ranged attack against a random enemy, dealing one hit. Once her specialization is unlocked, Imoen prioritizes attacking Favored Foes, and she deals an additional 5 seconds of BUD-based damage with every hit to these enemies.

Formation Abilities

  • Optimism - Imoen increases the damage of adjacent Champions by 100%.
  • Perseverance - Any time any Champion's Favored Foe appears or is defeated, Imoen increases the effect of Optimism by 50%, stacking multiplicatively and then applying multiplicatively. Stacks up to 50 times. Stacks are reset each time the Champions change areas.
  • Polymorph - Before every third attack, Imoen polymorphs a random non-boss non-static enemy into a monster with the same type as her Favored Foe, but only 10% of its original health. She can not polymorph enemies that are already polymorphed by this ability a second time.
  • Stoneskin - Before every eighth attack, or upon entering a new area, Imoen casts Stoneskin on all Champions in the front-most column of the formation, granting them 300 temporary hit points. The amount is increased by 5% (additively) for each Favored Foe that is alive.

Specializations

  • Beast Slaying Arrows - Beast enemies become Imoen's Favored Foe. Her Short Bow attacks against Beast enemies deal an additional BUD-based damage with each hit.
  • Dragon Slaying Arrows - Dragon enemies become Imoen's Favored Foe. Her Short Bow attacks against Dragon enemies deal an additional BUD-based damage with each hit.
  • Monstrosity Slaying Arrows - Monstrosity enemies become Imoen's Favored Foe. Her Short Bow attacks against Monstrosity enemies deal an additional BUD-based damage with each hit.
  • Aberration Slaying Arrows - Aberration enemies become Imoen's Favored Foe. Her Short Bow attacks against Aberration enemies deal an additional BUD-based damage with each hit.

Ultimate Ability

  • Disarm Traps - Imoen leaps out into the fray, attacking five enemies in sequence with her short sword in one hand and her lockpicks in the other. She prioritizes enemies with hits-based health and deals 5 hits per attack. If no hits-based enemies are available she deals normal ultimate damage to enemies she attacks.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Warduke
Posted in Idle Champions.

“I speak with the flames and razor-sharp edges of my sword. They beat words to hell.”

No one knows what Warduke looks like under his dread helm. He never removes that helmet to reveal his face to others, only showing his piercing, red, glowing eyes. This Simril he dons that signature helmet again to take his place in the Idle Champions roster!

I. Warduke

Warduke's services as a remorseless killer-for-hire can be easily bought. The evil swordsman isn't terribly bright, which is why he leaves the plotting and scheming to others. He just likes to hit things with his sword.

This deadly warrior is a Tanking and DPS Champion who grows more powerful the more he swings his sword, all while inverting the positional formation abilities of the other Champions. Once you have unlocked his services, you can swap Warduke with Delina in Slot 8.

II. Warduke's Stats

Race: Human Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 39 Class: Fighter

STR: 19 DEX: 11 CON: 17
INT: 9 WIS: 11 CHA: 11

Role: Tanking, DPS

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt & Vajra

Slot: 8 (Delina)

Dungeons & Dragons Warduke Marketing Gif

III. Warduke's Design

Fans of D&D will recognize Warduke from his most recent appearance in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, working for the League of Malevolence as they try to acquire a powerful staff. But this imposing warrior has been in the D&D world for over 40 years, including appearing alongside Dungeon Master in the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon, and becoming an action figure produced in the 1980s! He's even a foe our players have already encountered in Idle Champions, so it's fun to be able to secure his services to help the Champions instead!

Warduke is A Trained Killer who relishes in battle, becoming more powerful every time he attacks or takes damage. He's often seen serving The League of Malevolence, as the odious assemblage of villains provides a convenient arrangement for achieving his goals. As a Bodyguard for the Highest Bidder he'll make sure his employers stay alive long enough to pay him, increasing the health of all Champions in the formation. However if a better offer were to come along, he would have no qualms about changing his allegiances. Those chaotic tendencies affect the rest of the Champions as well. Warduke inspires a Chaotic Inversion of positional formation abilities. This means when Champions in the formation have an ability that only affects certain slots, he will invert it so it affects the opposite slots instead! He's also Drawn to Power as his damage is increased for each positional formation ability affecting him.

This evil swordsman will work for anyone who has the coin, but Specializes in a few specific formations. If Chaos Reigns then Warduke will increase his damage for every fellow chaotic Champion in the formation. Or he can draw power from other evil Champions as if surrounded by the League of Malevolence. But if getting paid is all that matters, this Mercenary for Hire will hit harder the more gold find Champions there are! With his epic sword Nightwind in hand, Warduke is a deadly foe as he leaps forward to slash through multiple enemies. And when it's time to turn up the heat, Nightwind ignites into a Flame Tongue Sword so Warduke can deal the ultimate amount of damage possible!

IV. Warduke's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Nightwind - Warduke moves up to the closest enemy and swings his sword, dealing one hit to all nearby enemies with a melee attack.

Formation Abilities

  • A Trained Killer - Each time Warduke attacks or is damaged, he gains a Remorseless stack. Warduke increases his damage by 100% for each Remorseless stack he has, stacking additively. Stacks are reset when traveling to a new area.
  • Bodyguard for the Highest Bidder - Increase the health of all Champions by 25% of Warduke's max health.
  • Chaotic Inversion - Most positional formation abilities' targets are inverted. Affected abilities will have "(Inverted)" appended to the ability name everywhere it is used.
  • Drawn to Power - Warduke's damage is increased by 100% for each positional formation ability affecting him, stacking multiplicatively. Buffs apply to the pre-stack multiplier.

Specializations

  • Chaos Reigns - Warduke's damage is increased by 100% for each chaotic Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Mercenary for Hire - Warduke's damage is increased by 300% for each gold find Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • League of Malevolence - Warduke's damage is increased by 500% for each evil Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • Flame Tongue Sword - Warduke's sword Nightwind ignites in flames for 30 seconds. For the duration, Warduke deals an additional 1000% damage with his normal attacks and he takes half damage from all sources.
