BW2: Trinket sets update!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Join the ranks of the Trinket Slingers

Many bush whackers bemoan having to change their trinkets, and rightly so. But that changes today! A new talent has emerged among the Bush Whackers, and a proud organization around it. It's time to join the Trinket Slingers!

Proving Yourself

After reaching level 75, after having unlocked all 8 of your normal trinket slots, you may notice a new section in your inventory, but alas it is locked!

At this time, a new quest chain becomes available. Someone in the Deep Swamp will train you in the ways of Trinket Slinging, an art built around the use of special Trinket Bandoliers. Complete their quests to earn yourself your first two Trinket Bandoliers and join their ranks!

Trinket Bandoliers

Once you've got your bandoliers, you can start using trinket sets! You'll find the new interface above your trinkets in your inventory. Click the save button to open the save menu, allowing you to save your currently equipped trinkets to the corresponding set button.

Mouse over a saved set button to see a preview of what trinkets it contains, and what bonuses that set provides. Note that this does not include bonuses from your pet, mount, or sword runes.

You can unlock up to 5 trinket sets by purchasing more bandoliers for Gold and Gems. Each new bandolier costing more than the last.

If you've got a saved trinket set, the trinket sets toggle button will show up on your bottom bar! This lets you equip your trinket sets without having to open your inventory. You can also use the keyboard buttons Q, W, E, R, T equip the corresponding trinket set without having to click the buttons with your mouse.

We've added a couple related improvements and fixes to your inventory with this update, which you can check out in the Release Notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I get trinket sets?
You have to be level 75, have unlocked all 8 of your normal trinket slots, and completed the quests that become available in the Deep Swamp zone. You'll see this requirement when you mouse over the new trinket set interface in your inventory.

  • How do I unlock the other 3 sets/slots/buttons/bandoliers?
The other three sets unlock at levels 120, 170, and 220 respectively. If you meet the level requirement, the corresponding button will show a dollar sign. Clicking it will let you buy the slot for Gold and Gems. The amount of Gold and Gems increases for each slot.

  • Where do I save my trinket sets?
In your inventory above your trinkets. There's a line of numbered square buttons, and a save button. Click the save button then the number of the set you want to save your currently equipped trinkets to. The button will spin when you've saved to it.

  • How do I equip a trinket set I've saved to?
Simply click the square button of the set you saved to, and you'll instantly equip those trinkets! You can also press a key on your keyboard to do the same thing. The tooltip shown when you mouse over the button says what the hotkey is.

  • Can I clear my saved trinket sets?
Yes! Click the save button in your inventory, and then click the X button at the top of the list. You'll get a confirmation popup, asking if you want to clear all your trinket set saves.

  • Will I know if I have equipped a save slot?
Absolutely! If you have the same trinkets equipped as saved to a set, the set button will have a yellow arrow pointing on it.

  • Why don't Power Whacks count towards the unlock quests?
It's a technical limitation, sorry! I tried to phrase the objective to match how it works. It counts if the type of item you find in a bush is Fruit/Mana/Power/Gold/Gem, not how many of them pop out. Any bonuses that create extra fruit, like Nothings to Fruit/Energy, will count though!

  • Can I use the same trinket in multiple sets?

BW2: Thankful Thanksgiving Event 2020
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Thanksgiving Time!

The residents of The Commons are preparing for a massive feast to celebrate the end of harvest season, and of course they need your expertise at finding things in bushes!

First and foremost, it's all about helping the chefs fill their food stations to the brim - and beyond. There's three of them for three types of meals, so you'll be collecting Meat, Veggies and of course Desserts to feed the hungry masses of Bushwhackia! Can you make all the Pristine Food? Keep doing turn-ins to achieve it!

On the subject of food - four of the guests have promised they would bring a dish to share, but they've forgotten ingredients.

And then, there's the problem of the Turkeys. Apparently, they need to be rescued in some fashion, so you'll need to get on that. You have the whole event to complete it.

Once again we're celebrating other harvest festivals around the world and hosting an inflatable surprise. They'll unlock as the event goes on. And tune later in the event for a parade!

Of course, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the Black Friday questline introduced in a previous year, and a fridge to store all those leftovers!

If you can complete the event with 100%, you'll earn the Thanksgiving Pet Piece! Collect all 2020 holiday pet pieces to craft a unique pet!

BW2: Halloween Event, 2020 Edition!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

The Haunted Mansion Has Materialized!

Who doesn't love a good haunted mansion? Well, that's what Halloween in Bushwhackia is all about! But to decorate your very own, you need to do what you do best! Go out into the world and whack bushes to find Pumpkins. Once you have found a patch of pumpkins, you can buy decorations from Glenda outside the mansion, or from the "Store" button while you're in Build Mode inside. Once you feel you've got enough, start laying out your design inside. (You can also purchase the same decorations for Bush Bucks from the Cop in the event area.)

You do not have to place all your collected decorations on display in the Mansion in order for them to count towards "Halloween Collector," they will count so long as they are within your haunted house inventory.

The goal is to scare the 8 children standing in front of the house, all of varying levels of bravery. The more you scare them, the more candy you'll earn in return. And you're going to want that candy so you can trade it for the custom items at the event store! You can try scaring them every 20 hours after you scared them the first time.

Glenda the Good Witch isn't just for buying decorations with Pumpkins. You will also be getting several quests from her throughout the event for special interactive decorations. As you complete each of her four quests, you can request help from your friends* by talking to the Construction Worker to increase the decoration's scariness.

The Haunted Mansion Photo Contest

The Haunted Mansion Photo Contest will be starting on Monday October 26th on Codename Games only! You'll need 250 mansion spookiness before you can submit a screenshot.
Due to the recent platform migrations, Codename Games will be the only platform participating in the contest. Any players still on Facebook, Kongregate, or Armor Games should migrate their accounts to Codename Games ASAP to participate in the contest!
See the notice above the game for details on how to migrate your account.

Gotta Collect them all!

What can possibly make your house scarier? How about some Creatures which wander around your mansion! Each creature will become available for a set amount of dates which you can then request from friends* by talking to the the Cop.

Creatures are available on the following schedule:
Black Cats - AVAILABLE at Event launch, UNTIL Sun Oct 25, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Witches - AVAILABLE Sun Oct 25, Noon PDT UNTIL Tues Oct 27, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Zombies - AVAILABLE Tues Oct 27, Noon PDT UNTIL Thurs Oct 29, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Bats - AVAILABLE Thurs Oct 29, Noon PDT UNTIL Sat Oct 31, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Spiders - AVAILABLE Sat Oct 31, Noon PDT UNTIL Mon Nov 2, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Ghost Butler - AVAILABLE Mon Nov 2, Noon PDT UNTIL Wed Nov 4, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Franken-Dogs - AVAILABLE Wed Nov 4, Noon PDT UNTIL the Event End

*The Sparkly Vampire is still available for Bush Bucks if you want it in your haunted house.

Candy! Candy! Candy!

To buy the custom items, you need your Candy! Not only do you get it from scaring those insolent little kiddies, you also net some from completing the various quests given to you by the Halloween NPCs hanging out in the event area!

Plus from Thursday October 31st until the end of the event, you can hunt down denizens of Bushwhackia and Trick-or-Treat with them for Candy goodness! There will be a spooky character standing in front of a pile of Candy in each of the major areas! So 1 in the Mysterious Forest, 1 in the Shady Detour, etc. NPCs have been added up to the Salt Desert!

New for 2020:

If you can complete the event with 100%, you'll earn the Halloween Pet Piece! Collect all 2020 holiday pet pieces to craft a unique pet!

Plus, carve all new custom pumpkins with the pumpkin carver this year! You can buy the old ones in Ye Olde Hallow's Eve Emporium.

And the witch has a new special item to craft for your haunted mansion in their new Imp Duty quest. You can copy a permanent version of it for your ranch in the Fox's Moulder Most Foul quest line. There's also 2 new Haunted Mansion decorations: The Broken Mirror, and Grimoire Lecturn.

Finally, the Bone Doctor will give you a reward for completing each of his Necromancy Reagents daily quests, available in your 3rd year of playing this event.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I find the Pumpkins?
Just keep whacking. The Holiday Item runes and pets will help attract them as well.

  • How do I decorate my Mansion?
You need to whack up Pumpkins. You can buy decorations from Glenda in the event area, or from the Store when you're in Build mode inside the Mansion. Once you have decorations, you can place them like you're decorating your ranch using Build mode.

  • How do I scare the Kids?
Just keep buying decorations and getting friends to up the scare level of your interactive decorations. As your event progress increases, you will scare the kids more and more. As well, when you reach a certain level of scariness, the kids will elect to no longer tour your house.

  • Does the Timey-Wimey watch or Time Turner affect the Kids?
No, the kids do not have quest cooldowns, so trinket effects that work for quests will not apply to them.

  • What adds to my event progress?
Making your mansion as scary as possible by buying decorations (but you don't have to place them all.)

  • Do I have to do the achievements?
No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.

  • Where can I see all the achievements available and how to get them?
Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

BW2: Coppers of the Creature Collector - Werepires!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Coppers of the Creature Collector

The eccentric Creature Collector has returned to the Commons, this time with a trio of Werepires!

Head to the event area and choose one to train. You have until noon on Wednesday September 9th to complete the collector's four daily quests, level up your chosen creature, earn Creature Coppers to spend in their store, and get another page to your Creature Collector's Compendium!

The Compendium Page will be given after the event ends. If you don't have the Creature Collector's Compendium ranch item, you'll get it when you get your first page.

After the event, the collector will be taking their creature back unless you adopt it by purchasing its corresponding pet pack, available starting Monday October 19th.

Train hard, Bush Whackers!

Note: The VIP "Quest Reset" power does not reset these mini event quests, and they are not affected by the Time Turner and Timey Whimey Watch.

Ye Olde Creature Collector's Galleria - Pets

When you speak to Tanela Tiva in the event area, you can select the "What past pets are for sale?" chat option.

This will open a new store, which will contain 3 non-event premium pets you have never owned! They cost Bush Bucks, like in event stores. The selection will change next time Tanela Tiva visits to event area.

We've done this in response to players asking to see old premium pets they've missed out on, to help you fill out your pet collection. Snag those old-school pets you're missing out on!

Chat about this mini-event on the forum!
