COTLI: Emo's New Moon 5

The entity stood before them on four legs, a malignant hulk of flesh and skulls and candles. It had no eyes. It had too many teeth. Yet despite its gruesome appearance, the Crusaders found themselves strangely comforted by its presence. The Evanescent welcomed the Crusaders like a shepherd would their flock, ready take them on a journey into the beyond.

"Come with us," spoke The Evanescent, its mouth filled with row after row of jagged teeth. "We will show you the way..."

The skies have darkened and Emo's New Moon has risen once again. For our second Tier 5 Event, we welcome a new and truly otherworldly new Crusader. Are you ready to journey across the veil with this eldritch monstrosity?

Emo's New Moon 5 runs until Tuesday, November 5th at 12PM PST, introducing The Evanescent and bringing back Wendy the Witch, Jack O'Lantern, Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul, Fright-o-Tron 4000, Viktor the Vampire, and Trixie the Treater!

New Tier 5 Crusader: The Evanescent

Stories tell of beings that escort souls from one existence to another. The Evanescent is one such being, an entity tied to the entropy and transition of all things into... what comes next.

When it comes to your formations, The Evanescent brings something unique to Slot 22. They use The Great Equalizer to grant the base tags of each Crusaders in The Evanescent's column to each other Crusader in the column. For example, if you have Zoraeban, Demonic Angel in your column along with The Evanescent, every Crusader in that column will be an Angel and a Demon in addition to their other base tags.

Vanitas, Bring Me to Life, and Memento Mori each offer more straightforward Global DPS buffs. Candle in the Window buffs Crusaders behind The Evanescent in the formation for each Enchantment Point (EP) from heroes not in the formation, while Until the Mourning increases the potency of the buff. Finally, Samhain increases Global DPS for each unique tag in the formation.

The Evanescent awaits all things. After all, we all die eventually...

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit The Evanescent | The Evanescent takes up a slot in the formation and disables the DPS and upgrades of adjacent Crusaders with the Support tag. Reach area 400 with the new difficulty scaling.

  • Rest in Pieces | Only Angels, Demons, and Undead Crusaders - along with Trixie the Treater - may be used. Reach area 450.

  • Dreams on Yew Street | Special Freddie monsters have a chance to spawn with each wave of monsters. The Freddies will take out the DPS and upgrades of a Crusader, one Crusader per Freddie on screen. The Freddies disappear when they hit the formation. Reach area 475.

  • The Henry Spooky Photo Show | Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul begins in your formation, and cannot be moved or swapped out. Other Crusaders do no DPS. Riff Raff and Magenta also occupy slots in the formation, changing to different slots every 100 areas. Reach area 500.

  • Halloween Potluck | Wendy the Witch starts in your formation and cannot be moved or swapped out. Damage done to monsters is based on the lowest DPS Crusader in your formation. Trick or Treat Monsters have returned. Each area has double the number of enemies or bosses. Finally, enemies drop less gold and quest items, and the requirements to pass an area are doubled. Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Halloween Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop All Tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crusaders will only appear in All Tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop when you go to purchase chests with real money or event currency.

What About Older Event Crusaders?

Previously-available Emo's New Moon Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders are once again available to unlock as part of Emo's New Moon 5. For more information about those Crusaders, check out our Event Blogs from previous years:

Players will have until Tuesday, November 5th at 12:00PM PST to complete Emo's New Moon 5. Good luck!

COTLI: Carnival of Sorrows 5!

Come one, come all and step right up! That's right! No mirrors, no tricks! It's just magic!

The fifth edition of the Carnival of Sorrows event is now live, and adds a magic show to its attractions!

This is also our first Tier 5 event! Read on for more details about what's new for this year of events!

Carnival of Sorrows 5 runs until Tuesday, October 15th at Noon Pacific Time, and introduces conjoined twins, Carmen and Petunia!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Carmen and Petunia

Carmen and Petunia both love stage magic. Petunia's specialty is tricks with turning balls into fruits while Carmen is so good at slight of hand, you'll wonder how she did it. Finding less than stellar success advertising as just a magic act, they've embraced being conjoined twins and have been making the money ever since with their new marketing angle: conjoined magicians!

Once you've recruited Carmen and Petunia, you'll find them providing support to your formations that contain female and human Crusaders, and they'll provide their financial skills to help your gold find. They occupy seat 32 on the bench.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Sashimi the Seal, Chiyome, The Half-Blood Elf, Mindy the Mime, Mister the Monkey, and Pete the Carney are all once again available to unlock!

What's New for Tier 5

Another year of events means some changes to how events work, and we hope you like them!
  • Accessing the Event | The Fourth Time's the Charm Talent now unlocks Tier 4 objectives and higher, which means it unlocks the Tier 5 objectives if you have it purchased, and it will unlock additional higher objective tiers in the future.

  • Event Idol Bonus | The buff to Idols for completing event objectives now buffs the Boss Idol drops in addition to the normal Idols you earn, though at a different rate from normal Idols.

  • Event Free Plays | Good news everyone! You can now increase the Free Play bonus for free plays on permanent campaigns by completing areas on the event free play!

  • Event Currency Costs | Since there are now 5 tiers of objectives to complete in an event period, we've lowered the cost of the objectives for Tiers 1 to 3, to help those players who are playing catch-up with an event.

  • Starting EP | Tier 5 event Crusaders will come with 450 EP when you recruit them.

  • Tier 5 Objectives | Rather than just go further and further, we're trying something different. The areas you are required to reach to complete the Tier 5 objectives are lower, but the difficulty of the monsters scales up much more quickly.

  • Bonus Skin! | The reward for completing the 5th Tier 5 event objective has been changed. Instead of awarding a Tier 5 event Jeweled chest, the reward is now a skin for one of the event Crusaders! For the Carnival of Sorrows event, the lucky Crusader getting a skin is Chiyome! This skin does not have an effect associated with it, but does make her fit in more with her fellow Carnival Crusaders when she wears it.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Carmen and Petunia | Carmen and Petunia occupy a slot in the formation. They reduce the effectiveness of other columns' formation abilities by 50%. Reach area 400.

  • The Prestige | A dunk tank occupies a slot in the formation and every few seconds a Crusader drowns. Reach area 450.

  • The Illusionist | A crystal ball occupies a slot in the formation and summons visions of your potential future self. Reach area 475.

  • The Carnivorous Carnival | A beast tamer occupies a slot in the formation and summons savage beasts randomly. Only the front spot of the formation can deal DPS to dispatch your enemies. Reach area 500.

  • Fortune's Fool | Some days you just spend it all on trying to win the supreme prize on a rigged carnival game. In this objective, your Idols provide no Gold bonus. Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Carnival Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop.

You'll have until Tuesday, October 15th at 12:00pm Pacific Time to complete Carnival of Sorrows 5!

COTLI: Littlefoot's Big Adventure 4

Nothing says 'summer' like going on adventures in the wilderness! Join Littlefoot and her entourage of Crusaders who love the great outdoors for another one of Littlefoot's Big Adventures!

Littlefoot's Big Adventure 4 introduces Langley, the Conductor and brings back Ranger Rayna, Littlefoot, Penny the Park Planner, Beary McBearFace, and Rosie the Rocklechaun. The adventure ends on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Langley, the Conductor

Langley is a naturally adventurous person. While on vacation, they came across the rest of the Crusaders and decided to join them on Littlefoot's Big Adventure!

If you're hoping for extra Gold Find and Support, Langley is here to help! Their Chew Chew ability increases Gold Find for each adjacent Crusader in the formation while also increasing the damage of Crusaders two or more spaces away. Ticket Please and Whistle all the Way increase your Gold Find even more. With My Friend Thomas Langley will throw a toy train at an enemy, causing the monster killed by the train to drop even more gold. Flip the Switch allows formation abilities affecting Langley to also apply to those Crusaders in the column directly behind Langley and All Aboard increases the effect of Chew Chew for each boss area you clear for the first time on the current reset.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Ranger Rayna, Littlefoot, Penny the Park Planner, Beary McBearFace, and Rosie the Rocklechaun are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

  • Recruit Langley, the Conductor | Langley, the Conductor and their friendly train take up slots in the formation. Reach area 600.

  • Back to Nature | Only Animal Crusaders and Littlefoot Crusaders can be used. Reach area 700.

  • Trail Mix | Only 10 bench slots are availiable. The available slots change every 100 areas. Reach area 750.

  • Divergent Evolution | Monsters alternate between being immune to DPS, click damage, and projectiles. Reach area 800.

  • The Lost Grove | Trees gradually take over the formation. Reach area 850.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Bigfoot Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop all-tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders will only appear in all-tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop.

You'll have until Tuesday, August 13th, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT to complete Littlefoot's Big Adventure 4!

COTLI: Alien Invasion 4

You fought on the beaches, you fought on the landing grounds, you fought in the fields and the streets, you fought them in the hills, and you never surrendered...

Now, a fourth invasion has begun, here to annihilate the Crusaders and all they hold dear. But you're not alone, dear Crusaders — another alien has joined your forces! Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic is here to help you rally against Alien Invasion 4!

Alien Invasion 4 introduces Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic and brings back President Billy Smithsonian, Kizlblyp, the Alien Traitor, Slisiblyp, the Alien Scientist, Red, the Ace Pilot, and First Lady Betty Smithsonian! The invasion ends on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic

When the fate of the world is at stake, the Cruaders need all the help they can get — luckily, Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic is here to Support the Formation!

Xygallix is here to increase Global DPS in every way possible. Peace Bribe and Machine Talk will increase the damage of your Formation. New Friends will buff all the non-Alien Crusaders in your formation. We Can Rebuild It increases the DPS of your formation based on the amount of Robot Crusaders in the formation, but at the cost of their health.

With Fleet Tactics, Xygallix will buff the DPS of any Crusader less than three formation slots away. And finally, Xygallix's Hourly Rate ability allows you to buy Global DPS upgrades indefinitely — though the price increases with each purchase.

You know, because mechanics always cost more than you think they will. We know, it's a bad joke ;)

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. President Billy Smithsonian, Kizlblyp, the Alien Traitor, Slisiblyp, the Alien Scientist, Red, the Ace Pilot, and First Lady Betty Smithsonian are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

  • Recruit Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic | Xygallix, the Alien Mechanic takes up a slot in the formation. Only Robot Crusaders do DPS. Reach area 600.

  • Special Defense | Only Alien Invasion Crusaders may be used. If Slisiblyp and Kizlblyp and/or if Billy and Betty are adjacent to each other, you are granted a bonus. Reach area 700.

  • Banelings Return! | The Banelings have returned — and this time they have shields! Reach area 750.

  • Alien Experience | Take you time reaching area 800. Only Healers, Tanks and Gold Finders may be used. Area quest requirements are extremely inflated, but Thoonoose takes up a spot in formation to help you out. Reach area 800.

  • My Friend the Alien | Only Crusaders next to Alien Crusaders can do DPS. Reach area 850.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Independence Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop.

You'll have until Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT to complete Alien Invasion 4!

COTLI: Gardeners of the Galaxy Vol. 4

The fourth installment and third sequel to Gardeners of the Galaxy is here — and you know what they say about sequels to sequels to sequels: it's time to change things up! Usually this is the point in the franchise where you take things to space, but since we're already here it's time to fight plants with fungus!

The latest addition to the Gardeners of the Galaxy is Mycall the Mushroom, and they are here to boost your formation with the power of fungus! Breathe in some of these spores and you'll have more than enough firepower to take down even the most colossal of evil plants! GARDENERS, ASSEMBLE!

Gardeners of the Galaxy Vol. 4 introduces Mycall the Mushroom and brings back Robbie Raccoon, Broot, Spaceking, Grandmora, and Rex the Wrestler! The party ends on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Mycall the Mushroom

Fungi may be categorically gross on average, but this frenzied fungus is one you'll want propagating in your formation!

Mycall the Mushroom is a Support Crusader who uses spores that heal Crusaders with their Herbal Healing capabilities, and has a tendency to Grow in the Dark, buffing your formation. In fact, most of Mycall's abilities buff the formation one way or another - they excel at boosting their allies! Mycall has Fungal Frenzy and Mushroom Soup for improving Global DPS, Propagation for boosting adjacent Crusaders based on how many Formation Abilities are targeting Mycall, Germination to increase the DPS of all Crusaders based on the number of EP in the formation, and, well, you get the idea...

Spores = Good! We are Broot.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Robbie Raccoon, Broot, Spaceking, Grandmora, and Rex the Wrestler are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

  • Recruit Mycall the Mushroom | Mycall the Mushroom takes up a slot in the formation. If he dies, you have to restart the Area. Reach area 600.

  • SuperGRO | All plant monsters are stronger and have a ranged attack. Reach area 700.

  • Sprinkled | A sprinkler goes back and forth over the formation. Crusaders in the affected columns lose their DPS. Reach area 750.

  • Capped Out | Only Crusaders with Legendary items have DPS and their formation abilities active. Reach area 800.

  • Down and Dirty | Mounds of dirt take over the formation slowly. Each mound of dirt increases the global DPS for each Flora Crusader in formation. Reach area 850.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Gardeners Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop.

You'll have until Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT to complete Gardeners of the Galaxy Vol. 4!

COTLI: Superhero Spring 4

Ominous Voiceover: "The situation has never been more dire — certainly not last year, nor the previous two years before that. It's bad. Like, really, really bad. And, once again, it's up to the Crusaders to stop--"

Deathpuddle: "BO-RING! Lets talk about me!"

Ominous Voiceover: "--I was getting to that--"

Deathpuddle: "News flash: nobody cares! About what you're saying, I mean. What they do care about, is who the next Crusader is — and it's me, Deathpuddle!"

Ominous Voiceover: "Aren't you just a ripoff of Dead--"

Deathpuddle: "Shush, you! Okay, so players, I'm coming to the game as part of Superhero Spring 4, the latest Tier 4 Event coming to Crusaders of the Lost Idols. I'll be joining the company of such copyright infringing Event Crusaders as The Bat Billionaire, The Metal Soldierette, Arachnobuddy, Foresight, and Thoonoose — and just in time for Endgame, to boot! The party stops and I take off on April 11th at noon PDT, so be sure to unlock me and get all my stuff before then!"

New Tier 4 Crusader: Deathpuddle

Deathpuddle: "Are you wondering how good I am? Of course you are. Spoiler alert: I am awesome at everything — assuming you want everything to die, that is.

I'm a killer of things. I get better at killing things with most of my upgrades. And, if you do somehow manage to get me killed, don't worry! Death is only temporary and I come back BETTER THAN EVER.

Seriously, I'm the best. Buy me!"

Crusaders Return

Deathpuddle: "I guess if you're already here you should maybe consider unlocking some of the other Crusaders who call themselves 'heroes' but really aren't all that special. Until April 9th you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their boring objectives. The Bat Billionaire, The Metal Soldierette, Arachnobuddy, Foresight, and Thoonoose are okay in a pinch, but they're no Deathpuddle!"

New Tier 4 Objectives

  • Recruit Deathpuddle | Deathpuddle takes up a slot in your formation. Lucky you! Crusaders lose 5% of their maximum health each second, and every 15 seconds or so I get bored and randomly kill an adjacent Crusader. Reach area 600.

  • Death Totally Crushes Me | The Death takes up a spot in the formation. Death randomly kills two Crusaders in each area. Reach area 700.

  • Accelerated Healing | You can only take Deathpuddle and Healer Crusaders on this adventure! Reach area 750.

  • Enter the Soul Stone | Minions of Thoonoose occupy several slots in the formation. Thoonoose increases global DPS by 100% per Superhero Spring and Gardener of the Galaxy Crusader in the formation when he occupies the center slot. Reach area 800.

  • Secret Identity | 'Normal people' take up spaces in the formation. Only Superhero Crusaders, Nate, and Bush Whacker may be used. Reach area 850.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Deathpuddle: "You can find loot in SUPERHERO CHESTS, of course! Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Superhero Spring Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or spend your sweet, sweet, money on in the shop. Is that all of it? Sheesh, that was a long paragraph.

You'll have until Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT to complete Superhero Spring 4! Do it! Do it now!"

COTLI: Merci's Mix-Up 4

The life of a Mad Wizard is a lonely one, and for Merci the Mad Wizard it is lonelier than most. This year, Merci has a plan — one sure to mend his own loneliness through the power of Love Magic!

But it appears Merci has miscalculated, accidentally opening a portal to Super Love Land — and the dangers beyond... Merci's Mix-Up 4 introduces Ishtar the Fire Queen, and brings back Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, and Frankie the Demon Crooner! The romance comes to a finish on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 12:00PM PT!!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Ishtar the Fire Queen

Legends tell of Ishtar the Fire Queen, a supernatural fertility demon who knows just how to get the most out of each and every Crusader in her formation.

Ishtar's Fertile Thoughts increase Global DPS and her Starlight increases the potency of angels and demons. Her allure knows little bounds, as she is able to attract Fire Sprites that increase Gold Find and speed up quest progress.

Female Crusaders who follow Ishtar will see improvements to their DPS, as long as they don't become too close, and when Ishtar tells Whispered Stories, Global DPS increases for every Royal Crusader in the formation. Don't worry if you cannot find enough Royal Crusaders to boost your formation, for the glorious Ishtar is able to elevate worthy Crusaders to royalty — provided they first become close to The Fire Queen...

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, and Frankie the Demon Crooner are all once again available to unlock!

Additional blue and green monsters spawn; killing the blue monster will cost Crusaders half their health, while killing the green one will improve Global DPS for 15 seconds. Reach area 700.

  • Fly Me to the Stars | Three 'Stars' occupy slots in the formation, changing positions every 75 Areas. Each Star disables the DPS and formation abilities of adjacent Crusaders who are not an angel, demon, supernatural, magical, royalty, or a dragon. Reach area 750.

  • My Funny Valentine Candy | Heart Candies spawn at random and are very difficult to kill. Each Heart Candy disables a random Crusader in the formation while it is alive. Reach area 800.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Carnage Cup Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop.

You'll have until Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 12:00PM PST to complete Carnage Cup 4!
