It's that time of the year again - and we're not talking about Christmas, though Christmas is pretty great - it's time for Codename Entertainment Extra Life 2019!
For those who may not know, Extra Life is a wonderful program set up to raise donations for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. The money raised is donated as unrestricted funds for hospitals to use as needed. But the best part? We can help by doing what we love to do: gaming!
Plus more!
Also, you can check out the Codename Entertainment Extra Life page here.
When do you Start?
We have time-gated our stream to this coming weekend, starting on Friday, November 22nd, at 9am PST and running for 24 hours until Saturday, November 23rd at 9am PST. You'll be able to watch the event in all its glory over on the Codename Entertainment Twitch.
With your help we managed to raise more than $13,000 in support of Take This, helping to fund AFK Rooms not just for PAX West 2019, but for future PAX Events as well.
On behalf of all of us at Codename Entertainment, we would like to offer a massive ‘thank you’ to the fans and supporters who made this happen. It is thanks to you that PAX attendees will have access to these invaluable spaces to recharge.
Also, a very special thank you to Amy T Falcone, the creator of Vizier, and her fans who helped make this a giant success too.

We hope your August has been filled with joy and adventures, both inside and outside Idle Champions. It's a very busy month for us here at Codename Entertainment, not just because we continue to work on live servicing our games while half our staff go on holiday, but also because we're gearing up for PAX West.
Wait -- did we mention that we'll be at PAX West again this year? Whoops. Let me start over. We're going to be at PAX West again this year! And not only are we hosting our very own booth (#7301 on Floor 6) but we will be featuring a whole bunch of fun stuff. Read on to learn more...
Put a Bird on it for Charity
Some of you may remember that last year we did a charity fundraiser for Take This and AFK Rooms at PAX, raising over $11,500 in support of Mental Health Awareness!
Would you like to know more? We have a video for you!
Through August 27th, 2019, all net proceeds from the Vizier the Steller's Jay Familiar Pack will be donated to Take This in support of AFK Rooms at PAX events. It's a fantastic cause and one we really believe in, so we hope you'll help!
Meet the Cool Kids
What fun is a PAX without your friends? This year we're hosting some amazingly-talented folks over at Booth 7301 for signings/meet & greets, and when we're not already introducing you to awesome people our artists will be drawing caricatures of PAX attendees as D&D classes. Ever wanted to have your likeness immortalized as a Warlock or Barbarian on a fragile sheet of paper? PAX West is your chance!
PAX West Booth 7301 Schedule
Note: subject to change, because, well, things happen and you adapt ;)
Yes, you read that right: it's all caricatures, all day long on Monday, September 2nd. Many PAX attendees wait until Monday to get their caricatures done, and that's awesome - but keep in mind that the queue for caricatures does tend to fill up quickly!
Free PAX Stuff™
At past events we've always had a selection of Champions for players to pick up through Champion Postcards. This PAX we're going to put a little bit of a spin on it and make things far more simple. There will be one giveaway to rule them all: Rockstar Jim Darkmagic!
Anyone who drops by Booth 7301 can pick up a Champion Postcard that unlocks Rockstar Jim Darkmagic, a costume based on Mike Krahulik's cosplay at Acquisitions Incorporated Live - PAX West 2018. And, if you don't already have Jim Darkmagic unlocked, the Rockstar Jim Darkmagic Postcard will unlock him for you as well.
I can already hear the collective groan of players who will miss out on PAX West and their chance to get Rockstar Jim Darkmagic. Worry not, friends — we will be making Rockstar Jim Darkmagic available again in the future. So while PAX West 2019 will be your first chance to get this exclusive outfit, it will return, and in the meantime you'll be at least as cool as Jim!
Is that it?
No, that's not all! But the other stuff isn't quite ready to be shared. We have a rather ambitious idea for our booth setup this year and we're still working on it, unsure about whether or not this crazy idea will work. We hope to share that info soon, but everyone may have to wait until the doors open to PAX West and then head on over to Booth 7301 on Floor 6 in order to find out...
In the meantime, we hope you'll consider contributing to Take This by grabbing your very own Vizier the Steller's Jay Familiar!

Like in previous years, the Codename Entertainment team will be playing all kinds of games, including TRPG games, board games, card games, and of course, video games. Dave even built a VR streaming setup!
The 24 hours of streaming include:
Two Eberron-based D&D sessions, each influenced by donations to the Idle Champions Extra life Page. Two different teams of thieves will attempt to complete Adam's all-new scenario: LIGHTNING TRAIN HEIST!
Art galore! Michelle and Alexis will be drawing sketches with pencil and paper and Kat will be drawing a tavern scene! Donations to Kat's Extra Life page get you a character added into the final scene! Follow Kat on Twitter to see her final image!
A founders Q&A hour with co-founders Dave and Justin!
A Magic the Gathering tournament!
Classic SNES games played by Justin and friends!
CNE plays the VR game Beat Saber!
Our very own version of Hot Ones, mixed with party board games!
Plus more!
And when we're not doing scheduled content, you get a bird's eye view of the office, awesome elevator music, and a custom stream overlay made by Dave and Adam, listing our schedule and current donations!
How Can I Help?
We've got a few different things happening this year for Extra Life.
Each of our actively supported games (Bush Whacker 2, Crusaders of the Lost Idols, and Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms) has a special item available for you to purchase in the game. Starting today, and until 10:00am Pacific Time on Wednesday November 21st, all net proceeds from purchases of these special in-game items will be donated to Extra Life!
Additionally, if you are feeling generous and want to donate more, you can contribute to any of the game's pages on Extra Life:
Plus you can check out the Codename Entertainment Extra Life page here.
When do you Start?
We have time-gated our stream to this coming weekend, starting on Friday, November 16th, at 9am PST and running for 24 hours until Saturday, November 17th at 9am PST. You'll be able to watch the event in all its glory over on the Codename Entertainment Twitch.
In 1980, Terry Fox set out on the Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer research. To commemorate his efforts, we're running a Terry Fox Charity Drive.
Until Noon PDT on Wednesday September 19th, you can buy Charity Marathon Waters to restore your energy. All of our proceeds here at Codename Entertainment from those sales will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation, which maintains the vision and principles of Terry Fox, and continues to be a leading national investor in cancer research. You can learn more about the charity here.
We are delighted to announce that the Stinky the Cranium Rat DLC pack has raised more than $11,500 for mental health at game conventions!
With the help of our fans, we managed to raise an astounding $11,542.05 in support of Take This, helping to fund AFK Rooms not just for PAX West 2018, but for future PAX Events as well.
On behalf of all of us at Codename Entertainment, we would like to offer a massive ‘thank you’ to the fans and supporters who made this happen. It is thanks to you that PAX attendees will have access to these invaluable spaces to recharge.
Also, a very special thank you to Holly Conrad, whose fantastic imagination created Stinky, and whose own fans helped make this a giant success too.

In honor of Stephen Hawking's recent passing, we're running an ALS Charity drive this weekend.
Until Noon PDT on Monday April 9th, you can buy a unique pet in one of three different packs. All of Codename's share of the proceeds will be donated to ALS Canada, a charity dedicated to supporting Canadians living with ALS and investing in research to make ALS a treatable, not terminal, disease.
At the same time, there's a visitor in the Commons that needs your help with their limited time quest!
It's that time of the year again - and we're not talking about Christmas - it's time for Codename Entertainment Extra Life 2017!
For those who may not know, Extra Life is a wonderful program set up to raise donations for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. The money raised is donated as unrestricted funds for hospitals to use as needed. But the best part? We can help by doing what we love to do: gaming!
We're glad you asked! Like last year, Codename team donations will be going to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. In previous years we have managed to raise upwards of $5000 and dress Clive up like a princess. This year we want to do even better!
For starters, we're stepping up our streaming game this year. Some of you may have noticed that we now stream weekly on the Official Dungeons & Dragons Twitch. The side effect of taking that on is that we have an all-new streaming studio, handcrafted, hand-painted and painstakingly assembled by our very own cofounder, David Whittaker. On top of the Codename Streaming Studio we are aiming to have several camera feeds this year, focused on:
Tabletop — all things boardgames and a three-part epic Dungeons & Dragons adventure crafted by Lead Artist Adam Kosh, in which he intends to put our characters through the ringer. Seriously, it sounds nasty, and he never stops cackling about it when we ask him.
Multiplayer — the best way to play games is against your friends and in earshot so they can hear your cries of victory and so they are close enough for you to curse them out in defeat. What's it going to be this year? Mercenary Kings? Hellriders? Overcooked? Whatever it is, challenge accepted.
Singleplayer — We have some pretty hardcore gamers among our ranks, so from time to time they'll take the spotlight away from the rest of the stream to show us how it's done (or earn our mockery forever). Time to put our money where our mouths are.
We are here for your entertainment, and more importantly, to raise money for kids. There will also be some fun and special donation rewards/perks, like rewards in Codename Entertainment games for all players and the ability to troll our D&D game.
You can find the Codename Entertainment Team Page here.
When do you Start?
We have time-shifted our stream to this coming weekend, starting on Saturday December 2nd at 9am PST until Sunday December 3rd at 9am PST. It has been a hectic couple months dealing with the release of our newest game, Idle Champions, and various other engagements (TwitchCon, Blizzcon, PAX, etc) preventing the gathering of the studio as a whole.
November 11th is Remembrance Day, which marks the date when armies stopped fighting in World War I, and is when we take time to remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve during times of war, conflict and peace. This weekend, we'd like to raise money for the Canadian War Amps, a Canadian registered nonprofit organization, established in 1918 to meet the needs of war amputees. Read more about the War Amps here.
So, for the next few days you can buy Poppy Cupcakes, of which 100% of our proceeds will be donated directly to the Canadian War Amps. Talk to the veteran in the Commons by the Town Hall to learn more about the opportunity.
The Poppy Cupcakes will be available to purchase until Monday November 13th at Noon PST. Thank you in advance to those of you who donate to this cause.
We'd like to extend a big thank you to all the players who bought Charity Coffees this past Alzheimer's charity drive. In just 48 hours, from noon on September 25th to noon on September 27th, we were able to raise over $1000 USD for the Alzheimer's Coffee Break Charity. Give yourselves a pat on the back!
