New Halloween Event!

Halloween comes early this year with our second limited time event. If you've ever wondered why Emo Werewolf is so emo, you'll have the chance to learn the legend first-hand.

You'll discover the shaggy Crusader's tortured past that includes lost love and a feud with a dead rival. And it's all set against the backdrop of teenage angst, at a high school.

Starting today and running until November 4th, the Halloween event campaign features four new objectives and two brand new Crusaders. Once you've convinced them to join your party by completing their respective objectives, you'll be able to include them in your formation.

"liek dis if u cry evry tim"

To enter the event, you must collect candies dropped by monsters when you destroy them in any objective. The first of the Halloween objectives costs 100 candies as the price of entry. Once you've saved up some candy, use Nate Dragon's "Reset the World" ability to view the event objectives.

Wendy the Witch is the first new Crusader you'll unlock. She draws power from her enemies and deals more damage the more monsters there are on the screen. Once she's on your side, she can be swapped with Prince Sal, the Merman. The second new Crusader is Jack O'Lantern, a tank that pairs well with Jason, Master of Shadows to bust down boss levels and tank up a storm. Each monster attacking him, trying to knock out his bonus health, will add a 10% DPS boost to your whole formation! He can be swapped in for Natalie Dragon.

"My enemies think to overwhelm me; they only make me more powerful"

However, it's not going to be that easy! When attempting to rescue the witch, she'll debuff the DPS of every Crusader adjacent to her for every extra monster on screen. Jack O'Lantern will make the two columns in front of him take more damage until you've recruited him to your side.

"Not so gooey after all"

One additional change we've made is to make those surplus Event Tickets more useful. If you manage to stockpile an extra 15,000 candies you can trade them for a Jeweled Halloween Chest! As a reminder, these special chests contain the exclusive gear for the two new Crusaders once you have added them to your roster.

However, take note: You can only trade surplus candies for Halloween Event Chests while the event is running (but you can continue to buy the Jeweled Halloween Chests two days after the Halloween event has finished).

Break out the holy water and stakes, dig out the pumpkin carver and silver bullets, Crusaders. You'll need to this Halloween.

The event will run until Wednesday November 4th at Noon PDT.

Upgraded Buffs!

Introducing New Buffs

Over the past few weeks we've received a lot of feedback from players regarding clicking related buff cards found in chests. Based upon this feedback, we decided to replace a couple of the clicking related buff cards in the game with different, and hopefully more interesting, buff cards. This week we ran a poll in-game to gather additional feedback, and based upon that and our own internal discussions we've made a few changes to the buff cards in-game:

The buff cards that used to increase your Critical Click Damage Multiplier now increase Monster Spawn Speed instead. This new buff type allows you to progress through easier levels much, much faster, though it's efficacy trails off as you're no longer able to quickly kill your enemies. We expect this buff to be prized by players attempting to speed through the first hundred levels or so of a reset.

The buff cards that used to multiply your Base Click Damage now cause a percentage of your DPS to hit all active enemies. This new buff type allows you to mow through large groups of enemies with a much higher efficiency. The more enemies on your screen, the higher the effectiveness of this buff, assuming you don't get overrun. We expect this buff to be useful in giving you that extra boost you need to overcome a difficult boss encounter.

The buff cards the used to increase your Critical Click Chance now also increase your Critical Click Damage Multiplier. This card absorbed the effect from one of the cards that had its effect replaced, making it much more powerful as it buffs two important clicking stats at once.

Overall we hope that the changes make the consumable buff cards feel a little more powerful and thus a little more desirable, such that an otherwise exciting chest opening won't be spoiled by a buff card you'll never use.

FAQ

How exactly do the new Spawn Speed buff cards work?

The Spawn Speed buff cards increase the velocity at which new monsters appear on screen. If you're quickly killing monsters as they spawn, this means that they'll be attackable much sooner after they've appeared. These buff cards do not decrease the time between wave spawns if you are unable to kill a wave before the next one appears.

How exactly do the new Splash Damage buff cards work?

A percentage of your total DPS will be applied to all attackable monsters on the screen. Your total DPS will still attack the front-most enemy. This buff does not affect clicked damage, but does stack with DPS increasing buffs.

What happens to the old buff cards I had?

All of your Critical Click Damage Multiplier buff cards will be replaced 1-to-1 with Spawn Speed buff cards. All of your Click Damage Multiplier buff cards will be replaced 1-to-1 with Splash Damage buff cards. All of your Critical Click Chance buff cards now also increase your Critical Click Damage Multiplier.

Don't the Spawn Speed buff cards make speed run objectives/achievements trivial?

Yup, we thought of it. Speed based objectives disable the Spawn Speed buff cards so you can't use them while on the objective, and using a Spawn Speed buff card during a run will invalidate you from earning the current speed based achievement. Look for special restrictions/caveats on achievements and objectives in the future for specific details on which buffs are allowed.

First New Event! Carnival of Sorrows

Today we're introducing a brand new feature for Crusaders of the Lost Idols, and it's a major update to the game! We have created new limited time events where you can unlock brand-new Crusaders among other rewards.

Carnival of Sorrows

The inaugural event is The Carnival of Sorrows. This dark and demonic funfair has rolled into the Crusaders world with some twisted new objectives to complete. However, entry to the objectives requires you to have earned enough tickets to spend on unlocking them. Tickets can be earned by killed monsters.

Once you have enough tickets, you'll have to complete the four new objectives and claim your rewards before the Carnival packs up and leaves on Tuesday, October 13 at Noon PDT.

New Crusaders

The opening two objectives are the first time you'll meet Pete the Carney and Mister the Monkey, two prisoners of the Carnival of Sorrows whom you need to rescue. The evil circus members have trapped them in their warped traveling carnival.

You must help break them out of the demonic spell by liberating them from the carnival. It won't be easy as they will debuff your Crusaders and take up a slot in your formation. However, completing the objectives will release them from their captivity, and they'll join your ranks. Once recruited you'll be able to select the character for all your formations by using the all-new swap button.

Mister the Monkey can be switched for Kaine while Pete the Carney can be switched for Jason by choosing the switch option just above the enchantment points.

Pete the Carney

Pete the Carney packs some new unique upgrades. A lifetime of traveling with the twisted carnival has built up his arsenal of improvements. His Bad Jokes are so bad that the Crusaders furthest from Pete receive a 50% boost to their DPS. As well, his level 200 bonus is Clown Rage that even has Pennywise diving for cover.

Mister the Monkey is no slouch either. He can buff all the Crusaders in the column behind him to find 25% more Gold, and fling a little poop while he's at it. Monkey see, monkey do.

Elephants of DOOOOM!

The remaining two objectives are Elephant of DOOOOM, where two elephants block valuable formation slots raising the challenge, and Carnival of Death, featuring double the number of monsters per area. These objectives reward Jeweled Carnival chests!

Of course, if you have extra tickets and want to get more gear for your new Crusaders while you can, you can run the Free Play mode. You get a guaranteed Silver Carnival chest for completion that has a chance to be upgraded to a Jeweled Carnival chest!

You have 11 days to beat the event and rescue Pete and Mister the Monkey. Can you do it?

The event ends Tuesday, October 13 at Noon PDT.
